The Bakery House

Looking for comfort food and delicious baked goods? The Bakery House has got it. Tucked away in the quiet southern Indiana town of Washington, you might drive past and never know it's there. I tried the beef Manhattan for lunch and it was served on homemade bread along with a generous portion of mashed potatoes, noodles and gravy smothered beef. There were several sides to choose from, but I went with double noodles and that was an excellent choice. These are homemade too with almost a dumpling type consistency. A great meal for those looking for some home cooking and it was enough to split with a friend if I'd wanted to. Not sure if the menu changes or not, but I would like to go back to try some pastries too!Tip - there isn't any seating inside and very little seating outside so you might have to eat in your car or get it to go. We grabbed a picnic table but there are only a couple.

We went there in afternoon on Friday. Pastries were somewhat dried out, The cinnamon long John had very little filling. There were places with no filling. When I buy a long John I want it to be stuffed with filling.

Great baked goods! They made our wedding cake and it was just what I wanted! Simple and delicious

Look going in this place is like walking into a nightmare for diabetics. I mean there is just icing and sugar and goodness everywhere. I love their long johns, twists, Easter bunny(at Easter) and Strawberry Pie.

Bit of a disappointment when we walked in at 1225 and they said they turned the grill off a half hour early. So why not just close a half hour early?? Man! Well didn't look like a place to eat breakfast food anyways. Maybe try the pastries. Went to Benjy's instead.

They have great donuts and cakes. They also amazing service and great deals. Almost every day they have free sample

I think it's sad when you call to order cakes/pies/cookies, and they turn you down because of MarchMadness... Are you a bakery, or sports diner?? Needless to say, we will never call to order anything from there again....

The best breakfast I've had in a long time! Their amazing breakfast sandwiches are made with homemade bread, the donuts are wonderful, biscuits and gravy were good, and they made the best Belgian waffle I've ever had. We were just passing through on I-69 and stumbled upon it. It's not far from the interstate and it is completely worth it! They also have lunch items (tenderloin sandwiches), cakes, pies, cookies, turnovers, etc.
