The Bagel Bistro

It can't get any better than a local bagel shop across from West Baden Springs! Everything about this place says "we are local." The menu is simple-in a world of complex choices-it is refreshing. The coffee was spot on and huge fan of steamed bagels. Who knew steamed was better than toasted!! I am so glad we stopped here. It will be a top recommendation from me for visitors looking to get away to Southern Indiana.

Locally owned bistro with freshly made bagels and sandwiches. Had a breakfast sandwich, 2 eggs and a whole wheat bagel w cheese. Service was prompt, 7-8 minutes as advised on menu and signage due to made to order bagel. Worth the wait! Dining area was comfy and there are local meat, cheese and jellies for sale. Counter service was friendly and clean dining area.

This was probably the most underwhelming bagel I have had. We ordered the You Had Me At Nutella bagel. It came with Nutella, peanut butter, and honey on a blueberry bagel. There was not near enough filling. The filling was super thin. For $7 I was expecting it to be filled way more.The egg-splosion bagel sandwich was very average. Again, not enough toppings. It was listed as having a pepper jelly inside, but you couldn't even taste it. I understand they are steamed bagels, but they seemed soggy to us. We spent $17 and left still being hungry.

We tried this quaint breakfast cafe this morning. The bagels were steamed and the sandwiches were delicious. I had a bagel with bacon and added some cream cheese to it. It hit the spot. We also ordered a fully loaded sandwich and that yummy too. I had a toasted marshmallow latte and it was a slam dunk for my morning coffee fix! There's plenty of seating and the historical building is a great setting for this place. The owner was really sweet and friendly too!

We ventured into this little bistro after touring a potential wedding venue for a friends upcoming nuptials. Walking in the place smells absolutely divine! I had to ask what it was and the sweet gal behind the counter smiled and said it was the bagels. The place was cute. They had a good selection of local goods for purchase; jams, jellies, pickled veggies, art, and local honey. I had intended just to have a latte but the smell enticed me to order the Little Piggy on an Asiago Bagel. It was absolutely delicious. The latte was good but didn't knock my socks off. If you find yourself in the area I definitely recommend popping in for a delicious bagel sandwich.

The BALT sandwich was amazing and creamy. The coffee is top notch as well. Very nice family with nothing but respect for the customer. The culture in the shop is very relaxing for a lot of my traveling work done.

Love this place and visit everytime I am in town. The food is awesome and nice compared to the resort. Service is always friendly. This is a required breakfast stop if you are in town.

I read before I went that it can take awhile to get your food after ordering, so I decided to place a to-go order over the phone. I was told it would be ready in 20 minutes, and it was ready in about 25, so not bad. While waiting for my food, I noticed all the bagels were in bags, so I asked if they made their bagels in house, and she confirmed that they did not. I was immediately disappointed.The food was pretty terrible. The bagels were similar to frozen Lenders bagels. No flavor, not the right texture. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich with garlic and herb cream cheese. The bacon was the pre-cooked microwaveable bacon, that had no flavor. The cream cheese was more like a garlic aioli. Very thin and only tasted like garlic. We also got a toasted blueberry bagel and plain bagel with cream cheese, and the bagel with peanut butter, jam, honey, and granola. The best by far was the pb&j bagel, but still was not great because of the bagel. They definitely didn't put nearly enough cream cheese on the bagels either. The staff (two young teenagers) was very friendly , and the store is cute. Just disappointing that an establishment called The Bagel Bistro doesn't have authentic bagels.

We were excited to see French Lick has a Bagel place.....we walked in on a Saturday morning to be greeted by the staff person who informed us he was the only person working and the wait would be long - like 20-30 minutes. The store looks really nice so we said we would wait. What is curious about this store is that no where did we see a listing of the flavors of bagels they offer. What we did see is a welcome screen that stated "Your time is just as important as ours so be respectful" as the first point. Followed by a number of other things they are not or won't do. See photo. The one employee continued to work on orders in front of us while we waited without ever taking our order. After about 30 minutes we left, never able to place an order. The store property is a gem. We want all small businesses to succeed and respectfully suggest you look at the culture of your store. Maybe look at a successful Bagel store for some lessons on signage, service, etc. We agree our time is equally important. We wasted quite a bit of ours on a Saturday morning along with many others. Hoping to see your store open and thriving in the future.

Prices are too high. My bagel was good but small. Nice quiet atmosphere. Located in an old building. They have a nice area to enjoy your meal both inside the restaurant and outside in the hallway.
