Taylor's Asian Market

This wasn't a huge market, but it had enough things to be worth looking at. The selection wasn't quite matched up with my needs, with, for example, no fresh noodles that I could find, no vegetable dumplings, and no broad beans. I still found a few handy things. As these places go, this one definitely is high on the sorts of ingredients that are likely to horrify someone like me; a bucket of something soft and pink, for example, I suspect was full of severed pig ears. I try to live and let live with these things, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me a bit uncomfortable. Anyway, I haven't really found my ideal Asian market in Lexington, but no hard feelings towards this one.

I usually love stopping in this store because of the variety of foods which are hard to find in other places, but today the smell was so bad upon walking in that I was there only a matter of minutes before I had to leave. It's unfortunate, because I really enjoy browsing, but man..

As soon as you walk in you are hit with the rancid smell of improperly stored seafood. Very messy and hard to shop with the lack of labels or pricing. Did not have that great of a selection in my opinion. I ended up not purchasing everything I needed since I wanted to get out faster than I came in.

I have visited twice more. My earlier reviews were partly critical. I am happy to say staff has been much more helpful, more items have English labels and clearly written prices. They often have tanks of live seafood (fish, crabs & lobster), and freshwater fish, plus lots of fresh seafood on ice and hard to find vegetables and fruit plus ample dry goods and frozen items.This market deals in a LOT of perishables, so they don't have all things every day. Buyers for other businesses shop here, so watch the facebook page and come early to get those rare and delectable items that sell out quick. I managed to get LIVE King Crab and fresh mantis shrimp.For Asians, those things you thought you could not find on the shelf in Lexington, look here. For foodies who can cook (like me) splurge a little here, it is cheaper than ordering these items online.

This store is fantastic! Great prices, lots of perishables that either can't be found elsewhere or are more expensive elsewhere. Their selection of fish cakes and fish balls for eomukguk and hotpot is the best I've found in the city!I've not had any issues with staff having attitudes or being unhelpful, and I've been numerous times. Perhaps it's because I don't act like an entitled ass and understand there are cultural differences in customer service. Whenever I have asked for help, they've been helpful, otherwise I'm left alone to shop at my own pace. As someone that likes to shop in peace, I enjoy that! I do recommend following them on Facebook and keeping up with what is coming in and when; they sell to a lot of restaurants, so harder to get things go *fast.*

Okay I'm no vegan by any means but I do believe in being humane...when I say I was almost startled at the living conditions of these living animals I mean it. There was probably 6 tanks maybe 3 feet by 2 feet, completely disgusting probably has never been cleaned and I almost wonder how the hell they pass inspections. The crabs were so smushed in the tank half of them were missing legs or dead and the few that were alive looked like they were sick... I left after about 5 minutes after realizing the situation and kind of wish I got some pictures to share. My fiance who hunts and fishes with me and isn't very emotional especially about animals actually got in the car saying he was sad for these animals and it made him want to cry. There's a big difference between being humane and raising these animals correctly and just being plane abusive. Do better.

Have fresh vegetable and fresh seafood every weekend! And friendly people. #food #goodservice

I do not recommend going to this store staff is really i mean really REALLY rude and racist. And as soon as you walk in the smell omg! Check out is a nightmare i gave her my card and after i payed instead of giving it to me hand to hand she just threw it out there for me to pick up. They definitely don't deserve any stars
