This has been an annual girls weekend for about the last decade for my friends and I. It's not too far of a drive from Louisville and we make a weekend out of it. Over the years the festival has changed a bit. There is now a wine tent, a beer tent and a craft beer/spirits tent. Each tent has its own admission charge. So in addition to paying the $5/$7 (depending on the day) to get into the festival, you could also pay 3 separate admissions for the drinking. We only go for the wine tent so this isn't a huge deal for us.The wine tent was $20 this year and includes all the samples, a glass and a small cheese tray. Don't get too excited about the cheese tray as it is literally 6-8 cubes of cheese and 2 packets of club crackers. Luckily, there is plenty of food outside the tent as part of the festival. There are normally 10-11 wineries and plenty of wine to sample. Some wineries do small pours while others "sample" half a glass. It's very easy to reach your limit quickly if you aren't paying attention. I typically use this festival as a quick way to stock up on my favorite wines without having to go to the winery. Most of the wineries have bottle discounts and some will even double their discount on Sunday. The festival itself has a few craft vendors and different booths to shop at. I picked up a few candles this year as well as some slushie mix for tailgating. There is free parking as well and they have done groupons for discounted entry in the past.

I don't think they left anything out for this event except a little more wine. Going the first day is free to enter. They have rides for kids, booths selling a variety of things and food trucks galore. Today I tried lobster chips for the first time ever...It was an interesting fair food, but hey, I wanted to try something different. As you walk around you'll see several bands playing, pageant competitions and grape stomping on different days of the week. I think this festival is a great event for all ages. Lots of free parking available.Behind one of the bands was boat ramp, we stopped to take a look around at the Ohio river. A staff member picked up a piece of drift wood as we were about to pass it. They take great pride in keeping the grounds clean and safe. Have fun everyone.

It was a gorgeous Saturday, and we'd been seeing signs all over Northern Kentucky advertising the Swiss Wine Festival in Vevay, IN. Always up for a road trip (and wine), I invited my mom, loaded up the wee girl and off we went! We stopped first in Warsaw (KY), to eat at Jewell's on Main, because the food is excellent and I knew we'd pay out the wazoo for marginal concession food at the festival. This was the highlight of our road trip, unfortunately.Arriving in Vevay, it was bustling--I was excited! We avoided paying the $3.00 to park and take a tractor shuttle, by parking a block higher, across the main street and walked (because our legs work). It was a gorgeous night, so we chose to enjoy the walk. $4.00 a person to enter the festival..which turned out to be way too much. The rides were extra and the "arts and crafts" were more like something you would see at a flea market (save one vendor with great Halloween items). Now, let's talk about the real reason we came to the WINE festival-- the wine. The wine tasting tent was near the river. There were no other smaller locations or booths to purchase wine from the participating vineyards. $13.00 to ENTER the wine tasting tent (which was crowded. Too crowded). I assume that the fee covered tasting from all participating vineyards, but I couldn't be sure since I was unable to take my daughter with me. When I approached the tent a sign read "No Strollers. NOONE under 21 can enter." Since it was my mom, me and the girl, I certainly didn't want to leave them alone so that I could go inside and taste wine. So, I elected to not go. I mean, after all, $13.00 to simply taste wine is a bit much--because then you want to actually buy a bottle and that's considerable expense after a time. On the way out of Vevay, we stopped at the local BP for some waters for the road. The BP had a nice selection of Indiana wines right there on the shelves...

You are essentially paying the vendors $20 00 to try to sell you their wine from their vineyards after sampling their wines and being pushy to buy several expensive bottles Do yourself a favor and buy your own wine elsewhere and have a nice picnic by the river The wine is average to very good But mostly very expensive on top of the admission fees Unless you come on the free day Or on the last day in the last hours for free admission and wine tasting My family has a family Vineyard with bonfires and festivities with no charge for admission in Franklin Kentucky This is a total waste of time and money. Most people go to socialize and drink with the locals and listen to the bands I live here in Vevay Indiana Don't waste your time and money on the garbage food that is cheap fair junk food And the vendors are overpriced cheap trash items like for in the 1970s This is not a true wine festival It's a gimmick Including the trash fair rides overpriced Who wants to drink and then spin around? It's not a family event It's an alcohol sales event Along with old women wearing low cut tops trying to sell you some expensive wine
