Visited for my first time. Located in St Mathews I found very friendly and informative staff. I was able easily find my choice beverage. Great selection of different spirits. Fair pricing. At check out here was Covid19 precautionary measures. On time I admire was speaking to the clerk I was asked if found everything I wanted? I was happy to feel the personal touch and to please return soon. I told him it was my visit and would surely return. Side note limited parking in front yet extra parking on side lot.

A great neighborhood liquor store. They seem to have everything. Sam and Bruce, the owners, know what their clientel wants and strive to always have their favorites in-stock.

I always start at 4 stars for a place, by default. I go in hoping it's good, but not great, and deduct accordingly. So bear with me here. Reasonably large liquor store. It seems like it used to be a Walgreens. I came in here today and was a little disappointed. I was hoping to find some beer that I hadn't tried before. I don't think I found it (that led to it losing a star). What I did like was that they were willing to mark down beers they were trying to clear, which is not something a lot of liquor stores do in this town (that led to it gaining a star back). But, the owner had Fox News or Rush Limbaugh playing, and I think having a political show playing in a store is incredibly inappropriate (so I had to rescind that last star).I'm not going to talk about my political leanings here. I also don't think the liquor store owner should subject us to his.

Great service and knowledgeable staff. I'm visiting from out of town, and the folks who work here told me all the good local beers and breweries.

I used to come into this store a few times per week for wine and also to shop for special bottles for my clients. They always had a pretty good wine selection and very interesting bourbons. Sam and Bruce - the old owners - were always able to help me find something special. They also had an employee, Becca, who was very good with bourbon and wine and I believe was a bourbon instructor as well. Everything changed when they sold their store in April. The new owners did keep Becca on as the buyer for a while, so I was still able to get good suggestions for a couple of months. But now that they let her go for unknown reasons absolutely nobody who works in that store knows anything about the products they sell. That was a huge mistake to let go of their final asset left at that store. The new owners know literally nothing about wine. Nothing. They are also pushy about selling cigars and overpriced Buffalo Trace products. One of the new owners even told me he doesn't drink bourbon unless it is Pappy Van Winkle. Talk about out of touch! It is clear he is only drinking it for the name and prestige and doesn't actually know what makes good bourbon...This is all very concerning. The store has been around for nearly 100 years and has been a neighborhood staple. It is safe to say the new owners know nothing about the rich history of the store. They are turning it into a convenience store with alcohol. If you want to interact with anyone half way knowledgeable about alcohol? Pass on this store. If you want to patronize a local business where your money goes back into the community and the owners treat their staff with the respect they deserve? Also pass.Again, what a shame!

State used to be my go to liquor store in the neighborhood but with the new ownership it is terrible. Every product is more expensive then the store 100ft away, their knowledge is heavily lacking, and barely speak English.

Place is a fire hazard with empty boxes laying in the aisles. No one seems to care as you have to step over cardboard or walk around the mess.Total wine and more could also teach them something about customer service.

This is my favorite liquor store in town. I used to live pretty close and this was my go-to. Now, whenever I'm in the neighborhood, I make it a point to stop in and pick something up. They have a good selection and friendly service. They aren't the biggest but they are well-stocked with a good variety of just about anything you may want. And if they don't have what you're looking for, chances are good they can order it in.The history of the store is interesting and it should probably be classified as a historical landmark by now.

Prices are good and location is convenient. Selection is great and easy to navigate. Could do without Fox News always blaring in the background and the Pro-45 discussions at the counter. If that's you're thing or you don't care, this is your store. Will probably go next door in the future.
