My first visit! I am part of Facebook plant groups local to Louisville and they speak highly of this spot. I was excited to bid on a gift card during Make a Wish's auction - and lucky for me I won! As soon as we got out of the car, someone greeted us and he let me know where to find the annuals, perennials and houseplants. Everything was beautiful and healthy, some varieties I was surprised how nice they looked because elsewhere they've dried up. Inside are pots, mulch, soil, garden decor, bird feeders and SO MANY AWESOME HOUSEPLANTS AND SUCCULENTS. I also enjoyed the team working, and learned so much about plant care. It was nice to speak to someone that just work at a plant shop but loved and lived with plants too, that understood the quirks of each one. Prices were good, for everything. I've seen them cheaper and I've seen them much higher. All plants are not equal even when the tag says so, it's about the people that care for them before someone adopts them. Plus, the service. We even had a young man carry things to the car. I left with a full car ... I love snake plant varieties. There's so many other things I'll go back for! If you love pony tail palms, theirs are amazing. I've been smiling all day.

I've been coming here for several years now and have never been disappointed with the quality of plants and the friendly knowledgeable staff. Recently I had a weeping spruce (falling waters) delivered and planted into a large container. It looks like a tree from a Dr Seuss book - love it. It's a great local plant nursery.

I have always been very happy with St. Matthews Feed and Seed. I always went to Buntons downtown for my heirloom seeds and plants until they closed. SMFS bought Bunton's stock and sells their seeds. I am so pleased with their store. THE place for heirloom tomato plants and other heirloom vegetable garden items. There were a dozen different varieties of tomatoes at least. Staff is always helpful but not pushy and hovering over you. Since it is a small store, help is not hard to find if you need it. I have had extensive discussions with the staff about seed and plant selections, and their guidance has always been spot on. I highly recommend St. Matthews Feed and Seed if you are a gardener that is looking for quality, non-gmo seeds and plants.

Terrible customer service. I was refused access to the restroom as a customer. I will not go back! If small businesses want to compete with corporate stores, customer service is key!

Stopped in for some mums and pumpkins and was overwhelmed with the hospitality shown to me by the whole crew! From finding my selection to loading my car, they were the perfect example of Southern Hospitality.

A good outlet for bulk seeds and seed packets for vegetable and perennial gardeners. Staff here can be a bit standoffish although they were always polite on my May 9, 2013 visit. It wasn't from lack of effort on their part and I found everything here to my liking, and most importantly the single product that drew me here...Smart Pots, a natural container gardening bag that encourages good root growth and is ideal for potatoes, carrots, and other vegetables and even perennials and perennial vines that are hardy enough to winter over in a container. My only asterisk about St. Matthews Feed & Seed is that there didn't seem to be anyone here that shared my interest in Kentucky native perennials or even off-the-beaten path heirlooms. I will likely learn later it's not the case but I was unable to penetrate the knowledge wall in a brief visit (my shortcoming to be sure). So, first impression, the seed stock here is more run of the mill without as much equity towards the local that I would prefer and maybe even expect having stepped outside a Big Box store (I stopped at Home Depot on the way back to the Highlands). This may be a reflection of the affluent neighborhood in which the store lies or just a matter of economics. Or, it may be a matter of the 'knowledge wall' at the moment I walked in. I will give it a few more tries as I get a little more time with my new vegetable garden. I can recommend St. Matthews Feed & Seed as an important part of the local gardening scene (the remnants of Bunton Seed So landed here when the downtown Bunton closed). based on their holdings and tradition.

Longtime business in St. Matthews. Good selection of houseplants; some rare ones and some big showy floor plants. Good prices. Lots of flower and vegetable seeds, plant supplies and pots. They have the Bergs' pots, which are beautiful and come with a separate matching saucer. Happy to support a local business.

Most recent purchase was a perennial unable to find at other nurseries (Cardinal flower). During the winter season many Christmas trees and a beautiful wreath have been purchased from this store. Polite people, great service and products here. Donna D.

FYI: Horrible customer service and extremely high prices. Anyplace else in town is cheaper and better quality.
