Search on YouTube for "SNL DA BEARS" - then you'll understand this place better. Walking into this restaurant as a Southerner might leave you speaking like the SNL characters, although I still don't understand why Mike Ditka is viewed as a god in Cook County. This place will make you want to take a road trip to 1060 W Addison St in Chicago. South of Wrigley is Lexington's closest option for Chicago-style food. If you haven't tried a Chicago-style hot dog, experience this life-altering experience here. I also recommend the Reubens, pub fries, and the "Fat Randy." Their merch is reasonably priced as well!South of Wrigley brings authentic Chicago food to Lexington, just like Blue Door BBQ brought authentic Texas-style BBQ to Lexington. 10/10 would recommend.

This place is solid. The food is always good. I was in the mood for a Chicago Dog so that's what I got. It was good, but I'll be sticking with the Italian Beef next visit as that appeals to me more cuz I'm not big on hot peppers. Staff is friendly and welcoming. But it was cold in there and the AC was on in November on a cold day. So... it ain't fancy, but you won't leave hungry. Also... I heard the staff talking about the possibility of expanding their hours. So watch for that!

After discovering that my good buddy Grizz had never had a Chicago dog, the Fat Man and Grizz finally head to South of Wrigley for a Chicago beef and hot dog fix. I had an Italian Beef sandwich. This came on a 7-inch roll with hot giardiniera and I had it soaked. The roll was thoroughly soaked, as ordered. The peppers brought great heat and added texture to the sandwich. The beef had good flavor and was sliced thin, but the meat was dry and made the chew challenging.I also tried a Chicago Dog. This was made with Chicago's own Vienna All-beef dog on a poppy-seed bun with toppings offered the Chicago way - mustard, relish, onions, tomatoes, pickle spear, sport pepper, and celery salt. It had a great snap on the dog. The bun was very fresh, as were the veggies. The peppers added heat, while the tomato and super bright green relish added a touch of sweetness and cooling to the bite. The mustard added tang, and the celery salt brought everything into balance. It was perfect. To round things off, I wanted to try their Chili Cheese Fries. The fries were cooked and seasoned well. The cheese was melted, but there could be a touch more, plus the cheese was under the chili versus on top. The chili was meaty, with decent beef and salt flavor but the fries could have used a little more chili. The dish was topped with onions and diced tomatoes. The onions added a good crunch but the tomatoes added an extra liquid that threw off the texture. Grizz also tried the Chili dog. He said that the chili had good flavor and taste, but there was a lot of chili that made it hard to eat and overwhelmed the dog. The bun was fresh, and the cheese was melted well to add saltiness and texture to the onions, which added crunch. South of Wrigley offers a full menu of dishes from the Chicago area, including hot dogs, Italian beef, sausages, red-line fry boxes, and even some vegan options. They serve a few beer options as well. The Fat Man says that South of Wrigley is Fat Man Approved with 1 chin.

I finally got the chance to check this place out last week during Lexington Craft Brew Week. I really had no clue what to expect, but it was delicious! The special was a beer brat and cabbage on top of a brat should sound weird but it tasted delicious. Also, woe to those that ask for ketchup on your brat, apparently thays not the right way!Fries come in a cup, they're so crispy and delicious. If you still have space, try a pizza puff. Think fancier Hot Pocket, but sooo good.Service was pretty fast, the biggest problem might be looking for parking or an indoor spot if the weeather is gross out side.

Finally made it to this delicious spot! My family and I ordered online and picked up the Italian beef, Big B's Italian Beef, Chicago Dog and a couple orders of pub fries on our way home. The online order system was easy and the food was ready within the 10-15 minute drive it took us to get there. As for the food it was great. The beef had excellent flavor and was cooked perfectly. The hot dog was also great. As a pickle lover, I loved the full spear of pickle and it also had a nice kick from the sport peppers. The fries were also well seasoned and had a nice crisp. Looking forward to going back!

This is the only place to get high urban population type food, and for it to taste this good it is a sin. Great set up, great service, and great mission to share the authentic taste of the Big City with us here in Lexington.

So my family of 3 tried this place based off of reviews on here. We tried the Italian beef with giardiniera, Maxwell st polish, chili cheese dog, chili cheese fries, pub fries with white cheese sauce and pizza puff.So my 19 year old son said he only liked the Italian beef sandwich and nothing else. My wife's favorite was the chili cheese dog followed by the Maxwell. My opinion is the Italian sandwich was my favorite and it was very filling. The chili cheese dog was the same chili cheese dog I have had everywhere else. The chili cheese fries were okay but I have had a-lot better. I am the only one who said the pizza puff was okay. None of us liked the white sauce. We all tried it once and threw it away.We had plenty of leftovers but I was the only one who had any. My wife went inside the establishment to pickup the food and said it didn't smell very good inside. We waited 40 minutes for our order. For the price of the food and the overall taste of the food we would not return for another visit.

Calling all Chicagoan's! this beef is amazing and better than many of the places in Chicago. I'm from Chicago and I eat a lot of beef and I'm telling you this is the place you wanna go to. No more having it shipped from Chicago to your house so that you can get your beef fix. This place is legit. I got a big beef with hot peppers and had it dipped and it was amazing.
