Smokin Jim's BBQ and Steakhouse

The people here are so very nice. I love the owner. They have really good weight staff. By all means they're music they do is really good there. It is really good gospel. The location has a really good parking structure I have to say and the food is top notch someday I recommend is getting there for pulled pork

The service was friendly and prompt. I was pretty unimpressed with the food. It was just not that great. The meatloaf was greasy and underdone. The sides were under-seasoned and bland. Meh.

Not a bad little BBQ joint. Overall good food a service you'd expect. While the food was great, for me there was not much of a smoke flavor for this style of food. I'd eat here again for sure.

Been here a few times. It's okay. The front part of the restaurant is a Christian-themed "country store" like a bad Cracker Barrel. But with the addition of Trump wall hangings with guns and stuff like that. The menus have bible verses on them too, which is whatever but very forward and confusing with all the pro gun stuff. The BBQ isn't anything to write home about. The ribs are pretty good, but everything has a heavy taste of adding liquid smoke. I'd say, get the tea, macaroni, ribs if you have to, and order takeout as they don't beer or wine. 2 stars

Ordered the 14 oz Ribeye, cooked medium. Ribeye arrived and it was medium rare (which is fine,) but had very little seasoning. As I cut into it, at least 1/3 of it was inedible fat and gristle. Our service was adequate and friendly. The decor is very kitschy if that is to your liking. When our server returned with our check, I mentioned to her that the steak had a large amount of fat and gristle, but that I was not looking for a discount or a freebie. She said ok, I'll tell them, but did not apologize. I do not recommend this place.

Fantastic BBQ!! My husband loves the ribs & I love their burgers!! They have great loaded baked potatoes & other sides. We really love them & they are Christian run, which is really nice.

We stopped while traveling through and I'm so glad we did because the food was delicious! Lots of BBQ sauce to choose from and they were all very good. Baked potato was cooked to perfection and the green beans were great too. If I'm in the area again I will definitely be back! The staff were all also very nice and attentive. Our waitress even brought drink refills before we had to ask.

Husband and I are from NE Ohio and in the area to pick up parts for our hobby. Searched for a place to stop and eat and Smokin' Jim's popped up. After reading a whiny one star review from someone offended over a picture in their business, I knew it was the right place to stop.My husband had the brisket with mashed potatoes and gravy, the serving was more than enough! I'm not a huge fan of brisket, I usually find it dry, but their brisket was amazing and very tender. I had ribs with fried taters and green beans, the meal was more than enough for me. It was delicious.Our waitress, Danielle, was a sweetheart. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely be stopping back!!

Whenever we camp or passing through this area this is a must stop for our family. Hanna the owners daughter is just the sweetest lady ever! Brisket and sides are always delicious! A+ in the Bryant's book! And we love Hanna's art work on our bill!!!

I really wanted to like this place after passing it from New Albany to Bloomington for 30 years. My wife and I finally tried it. The food was decent and price was good and our waitress was lovely. No problem here.When we got the check, we're told we have to pay up front. They have a tip jar at the register, but I never trust that the house won't stiff the wait staff, so I left a generous cash tip on the table. They also discourage credit cards, which might have been acceptable in the 20th century, but come on, man. Either you're running a business in 2023 or not.The thing that really turned us off was not all the Biblical quotes crosses, and overt Christian memes etc. That's fine. Who can argue with "Love your neighbor?" What wasn't fine was when I looked up to my left when paying at the desk & saw a crude poster of an angry Donald Trump with a big gun in an Zorro outfit with "I'll be back in 2024." Seriously, people? The irony...no, the hypocrisy...struck us speechless. For the record, we recently celebrated our 53rd wedding anniversary, so here was what we discussed on the way back to Bloomington. We talked about how their "savior"....a man who cheated on Wife #1 with #2 (who got pregnant while he was still married to #1) then cheated on #2 with #3 and cheated on #3 with a porn actress (he paid off) and a Playboy model; then bragged about committing sexual assault, (and now has been found libel/culpable of sexual assault) apparently has the complete and unwavering support of many Evangelicals and the Party of "Family Values" apparently like the owners of this restaurant.To be clear, I support their right to their opinion and to put that angry Zorro Trump with a big gun poster in their restaurant. Even if the "discount for open carry" seems a bit weird for those of us who don't usually feel like we need to arm ourselves to have a pulled pork sandwich and an ice tea, but whatever,We have our right not to ever set foot in that establishment in the future. There's plenty of good barbecue in Bloomington.
