Ambiance: We sat inside and it does have a pretty neat older building atmosphere. They also have a neat outdoor dining area.Service: This was the worst part of the experience, I'm assuming the waiter just didn't want to be there or something. He was very direct, would interrupt people when everyone was ordering and just a very unpleasant attitude and vibe. Tapped people instead of announcing his presence or that he needed something. It was very strange. Food: The food was fine. I ordered a special seasonal appetizer of fried green tomatoes and had the Manicotti as my main with minestrone soup. The tomatoes were okay, the soup kind of tasted like Raos brand out of a bottle..The Manicotti was fine. I've honestly had better from "Italian" fast food chains. It was overall mixed food reactions from everyone in our group. Wouldn't go again unless someone other than me wanted to go.

Well, interesting dinner. The food was very good. Steak cooked perfectly. Had 2 of the same drinks, and the 2 tasted totally different. The second one was not so good. Service was good but never would expect to have children running back and forth through the restaurant. This is supposed to be fine dining, and to have the wait staff kids running around is unacceptable. Probably will not go back.

Born and raised in Evansville and planning a party (for 50-60 people) while living in California can be difficult. However, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Smitty's Italian Steakhouse on Franklin St. on the Westside of Evansville if you are considering a large group gathering. They were AMAZING in coordinating my Mom's Surprise 60th Birthday Party. Katie and their Chef were extremely communicative throughout the entire process and ensured that we felt ready to show up on the day of for a successful event. Everyone raved about the food bar, and having the private room and private bar was very convenient. If you are considering hosting a gathering (future office Xmas parties or bday parties), give them a shout and ask for Katie! She'll hook you up!

Great Ribeye steak. On par with a New York steakhouse. Best meal I've had in a while and from Charleston, SC

Smitty's Italian steakhouse is an Italian steakhouse located in Evansville Indiana on the west side of there town. My family and I was in town fromLousiville for my second oldest daughters cheer competition. She had a late competition time and awards ceremony (they won yay!). So, it was past 9pm when we came Looking for dinner. Our family landed on wanting to get Italian food. so we found this place that was still open and headed out. The part of town it is in seems like a really popular and happening area to be on a Saturday night. Parking Was difficult to find but we managed. We walked in and the place is dimly lit with a nice bar type vibe to it. Our service we got here was very friendly, fast and helpful. We started off with a calamari app. The calamari wasn't very good if I'm being honest. Just had a really bland taste and some of the breading was slightly over cooked. For our entrees I went with a lasagna that came with a soup. I chose the Chicken florentine soup. The soup was pretty good. I was nervous at first as I wasn't sure I would like it. But it was thick and creamy and had nice flavor. The lasagna was great. Very filling and had great flavor with a nice cheese taste and blend. My younger daughters both got a kids meal chicken tenders. Wasn't much substance but they both enjoyed it and finished. So not complaints here. My oldest got the Manicotti and chose the Minestrone soup. She said both was very good and she enjoyed her meal very much. My wife went with a baked spaghetti and for a side salad instead of a soup. The salad was kinda small and dainty so she wished she got the soup instead. I actually gave her the second half of my soup too. Her baked spaghetti she said was solid. Nothing spectacular but it wasn't bad. Said it was fresh ingredients and hit the spot for her. So job accomplished overall. Overall, we had a good visit here. Nice place with a good vibe and nice workers. The calamari and side salad could use some work but all in all we liked our food and would rate it as an above average Italian eatery.

We love Smitty's for the nostalgic feel and their beautiful patio. Chicken Florentine soup was amazing. Chicken piccata and chicken parmigiana were too. Great service and cocktail list too!

So we were here over the summer for a travel softball tournament. We were staying in a downtown hotel and tried restaurants around the area. I had checked out the menu online as I'm the picky eater. They had plenty of salads to pick from and basic Italian entrees - good for the hubby. We went to dinner early as we always do - to avoid a wait. We were seated right away and able to eat outside - preferable in COVID and the temps were perfect for it.The service was good - taking our orders, keeping the drinks filled, pleasant waitress - all good. I got the diet cola and hubby just had water. The crusty bread came out 1st and was quite good. However - that also was the start of the infestation. Hubby got the chicken parm which he really enjoyed. He also got a side of meatballs - which he said were bad and I confirmed. Glad he only ordered a side as they would have been a huge disappointment for his meal.I got the chicken cobb and was very pleased with the amount of fixings. the only complaint was a funk of sorts in the bleu cheese. The biggest issue was the flies. They were just horrible. Had I have known this might be an issue, we definitely would have been seated inside. I can't fault the restaurant - and the waitress said the flies disappear at sundown. I certainly hope so. Regardless, they really spoiled the dinner for me as I just could not keep them off my food - there was just so many!I don't know if we'd eat here again given the opportunity. It was fine but not spectacular. Hubby gave it better ratings and said he would come back.Advise - don't sit outside, avoid the meatballs and anything with bleu cheese. Follow that and you should enjoy!

Food was on pretty good. Sit inside though. I spent half my meal fight off flys outside. They don't bother you at all but one an appetizer hits the table be prepared for the dive bombers. The wait staff is friendly but a little slow.

Great burger, old school Italian restaurant. Reminds me of the scene from the Godfather with Michael, the Cop and the Turk.
