Simply Seafood Market & Cajun Diner

An ad for this place showed up on my Facebook feed recently and I had no idea there was a seafood restaurant in Bardstown. I'm always a bit weary of seafood when their isn't an ocean nearby, but after doing a bit of research it seemed the products were arriving fresh to this market. We came here for Sunday lunch. My son and husband got 1.5 pounds of crab legs each, I had the fried oyster plate with coke slaw and Lima beans, and the daughter had the fried shrimp basket. 10 out of 10 we will eat here again. It was surprising to find a frozen gator with his head still attached in the freezer. If the weather were warmer, my husband would consider getting it for the grill. I'll be by here to buy fresh fish for dinner and no longer from Kroger. The place is basic, no frills, and all food served in to-go containers to make clean up easier. The picnic tables you sit on could be more sturdy. Drinks are all bottled; no fountain drinks.

Three strikes you're out. No longer buy there. The fresh fish became not fresh, very expensive for not fresh, had to discard expensive fish due to inedible, employees unable to answer questions about which items are fresh and which have been frozen. Last meal I got to eat on patio was so salty couldn't eat it, ruined. Wasn't like that before. No consistency. But the final for me was spending $100 + on "fresh" fish to cook at home, and it was so bad z(wet, mushy, smelly, old, past it's prime, and previously frozen) that it was not edible and went in trash, I had to make other arrangements, wish I had my money back. I might try it again once more, but doubtful.

Holy crap, or should I say holy crawdad! For the 1-2 times a year I will cave and put some seafood down my veggie-saurus gullet, am I glad I saved one of those rare occasions for this place!! It doesn't look like much from outside or inside, but that's not what the inside of your mouth will be saying!!! My grilled shrimp plate was stupid delicious!!!! And the marinade or basting sauce had some kind of nice spicy kick to it. My friends really enjoyed their fish tacos, gumbo and jambalaya. The menu has some good variety to suit most everyone. No alcohol but who cares...plenty of bourbon tasting all around. You really need to stop in Bardstown to hit up this very tasty find!! Make sure to stop by the Talbot inn too!

An absolute MUST on your visit to Bardstown! Bring a cooler to bring some hard-to-find seafood home, and have a great Cajun meal on-site before you leave. The porch has an outdoor area, and a screened area with fans and televisions. Service is friendly and prices are fair. Like or check-in on Facebook for 5% off. Remember to tip!

Simply Seafood market delivers on its namesake with simple and delicious Cajun shrimp, scallops, crawfish, catfish, sausage, and chicken (for our land loving son)! The gumbo was the best I've had in Kentucky. The default spice level from the kitchen is mild with a chance of spice. Let them know if you want some more heat. Sides were generally good, but if you like your corn or green beans firm pick something else. The hush puppies were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside (ie perfect). If you are in Bardstown and longing for a taste of the Gulf coast stop in at Simply Seafood.

Great Gulf Coast shrimp and fish. This place really is a jewel for Nelson County. They cook to order and have a great selection of seafood for you to take home and prepare. Recommend the fried shrimp!

This place, let me just say we almost didn't stop. I am so glad we did. We travel to beach destinations quite frequently and this restaurant was some of the best seafood we have ever had. I had the crab cake plate and the crab cakes had so much crab that they barely stayed together. The tartar sauce wasn't sweet, it was dill creamy deliciousness. Will definitely go back there when we are in town again.

Good seafood for Kentucky. Beans are a little salty, but has flavor. Recommend Mac N cheese

I love Simply Seafood. But I stay away from their sides as they are always too salty.

Terrible quality Royal reds. Will not be back. Staff needs an attitude check also. I want to give lower than 1 star but it's not an option.
