Silver Bell Restaurant

This was a nice rural restaurant. The differing burger's my girlfriend and I had were wonderful and the cheese filled pretzel was amazing! I love a place that can fill up your plate and your cup! The service was quick as well. This place may be a bit pricey, but it is worth it.

We had a horrible horrible experience here. There was nobody in the restaurant yet service was unbelievably slow. The food was not very good, the bathroom was beyond gross.Overall I think you need to try someplace else if you want a decent meal.

Dante suggested Hell wasn't hot, but icy cold like Satan's heart. Death for us miserable sinners may send us into a frigid abyss, but not without warm recollections of Silver Bell's stromboli. And if you're adventurous enough, and you want to taste a bit of icy hell--or is it frosty heaven?-- a glacially-glazed fishbowl of crisp American light lager.

I am on a pretty strict diet....I avoid almost all carbs now and I miss them dearly. However, I stayed a week in Evansville to visit my hubby's family and I splurged for the holidays on lots of fun junk food, including a take-out meal from Silver Bell where almost EVERYTHING is fried or overloaded in carbohydrates. They hand batter their onion rings and tenderloins so that is what I got. And....yummmalongadingdong. Deep-fried, tasty taste bud goodness. They were not TOO greasy but definitely could tell the batter was home made, as it was flaking off in my ranch and ketchup, but that's OK b/c it was caked on so there was plenty to go around. My tenderloin was good size but not so big I could not devour the whole thing. OMGoooosh...it was really good if you like insatiably awesome crispy pork loin battered to perfection and melting in your mouth. You know...if you like that kind of thing.I will say my hubby went to pick it up and it did take about 50 minutes. My sister in law warned us that the service and cook is a bit slow. I think it's just the nature of Evansville. I don't think I've ever had a FAST meal here, but I think this is b/c no one is rushing around or in a hurry...which can be nice, if you ask me! Also they make everything to order and they don't have a ton of people working. They are a family-owned local business just trying to keep their doors open.Give them a try if you are in the St. Joe area. There aren't a ton of other options and if you like tavern food, you'll really enjoy it! And for the price....it's really not a rip off at all.

Currently at the Bell and I am waiting on my food which should have been done at least 45 minutes ago. The bathroom actually smells really good. The faucet however, is broken. According to the Gingebread man from Shrek "NO! Not The Buttons!" This is why Silver bell's glory hole is no bueno.

They have really good pizza and there food is great enjoy going to the place once in a while

Loved the Thurs nite fried chicken special so much we came back last week to a sign on the door saying closed till the next day! Disappointed to say the least! We will try again but will be calling ahead to make sure it's open for business

If you sit in the bar area you better sit at the bar to get good service. If you sit at a table in the bar you better be wealthy to get thier attention.Otherwise your service will suck! Food is good mostly Depending on the cook. If you post a negative opinion you will be barred. At least that was my experience. I've been a patron for several years, but one bad review and they no longer want our business. Instead of attempting to fix the problem, they bar the person who complained. I have always tipped 20%+. Tonight I left $1.00 and I gave a bad review. I was told my patronage is no longer needed. So instead of attempting to adress the issue, they get rid of a couple that supports them 2-3 times a week. Not a good business decision. I hope your experience is better. For me, I will support another business that appreciates my business.

This is a hidden gem not far off the interstate. We stopped on our way home from St Louis. We loved the small town country feel and home cooked food. You can always tell the food is good when the parking lot is full. We definitely recommend and we will return.

The last two times we've been here the time to receive food hasn't been measured in minutes but in HOURS. Horrible way to run a business.
