If you are thinking about dining here just go a little further down the street to Kyushu. This location is really dirty. Walked in and saw nothing but dirty grills when I walked in. Rice and food jammed under the grills and dirty sauce bowls. The guy was setting out our sauce bowls and my wife saw some yum yum sauce in a bowl that wasn't cleaned out and instead of getting a fresh one he took his fork and flicked it out in the floor and then continued to fill it and give it to the guy on the other side of the table. I was very dissatisfied in the service and the table next to us had undercooked chicken. Needless to say I will not be returning.

It was very busy. Couldn't accommodate my daughter's egg allergy with eggless fried rice, but she got white rice.

It's been years since I've had a meal from Shogun Japanese Steak House and the food was amazing. The Chef was entertaining and put on a fantastic show while cooking our dinners.

I've been coming here for hibachi for forever and it is also a hit!!! The service is always very helpful. The coy pod in the front of the resturant is so fun! The sushi is also yummy! I cound eat here every night.

I like this place, it's pretty good! Sometimes when I go there they only have hibachi seating and sometimes I'd rather just sit at a table, but that's no huge deal. The service is good, the people who cook are always super kind and personable but the servers are always just okay. Overall it's a cute little place and the food is nice.

This location is run down. Bathroom doors falling off the hinges, out of soap, door boarded up. I usually go to the Bowling Green location which is top notch!! Was informed that they are ran by different owners and this is very apparent. No noodles, uses broccoli in the veggies (very odd) as a filler I suppose. My shrimp had a weird flavor. The 1 star that was given is for the fresh California rolls. Don't waste your time!

I went here the other day with a buddy. Absolutely terrible service. Took a long time to be seated, and the waitress took forever to take the order. When she did finally take our order, she very bluntly told us she could not split the price of our appetizer in half. The food took a good half an hour -- the appetizer was brought right before our meal, and the restaurant was not busy AT ALL (at 6pm, might I add). After bringing us the meal, she did not check on us once. When it came time to tip, she stood next to us as we were filling out our checks. We had been there once before this and received bad service from a different waitress, but thought we'd give it another shot, as their food is actually pretty good (but many of their dishes are extremely overpriced for the amount of food you receive) -- however, the service has only gotten worse. Would not recommend.

I don't go to Louisville often, but had my son and his two friends with him and one had never eaten hibachi before. Because we were on this side of town Shogun popped into my head. I had not been here in possibly 10 or more years. When I walked in it looked exactly as it did many years ago-only worse. You can tell the owners have never done anything to the decor except let it start falling apart. The restaurant was dark and dingy, but we proceeded. We were sat quickly and orders taken and not too long of a wait for our chef to arrive. I wanted the teen with us to have a good experience, but the pinion volcano was underwhelming, as well as the "choo choo". He didn't even attempt to you the water gun of the little boy who squirts you as his pants come down. There was ZERO showmanship! Very disappointed by that but even worse was the food. The three boys got chicken teriyaki and I got the vegetables. It was on the salty side but the sauces were horrible. Their idea of yum yum sauce was disgusting. It was some thin brown goo and the other sauce tasted like a cross between soy sauce and teriyaki sauce. There restrooms stunk and one was welding shut. Cabinets were falling apart. Their health rating was a 90 and I'm not sure how. Don't eat here. There are other better hibachi places in Louisville. I wish I had been thinking better at the time.

Food was excellent. Chef was very good. Ambiance was good. The woman that took our order was rude. My daughter has food allergies and asked if her food could be cooked in the kitchen instead of the hibachi. Woman yelled at my daughter, saying there is no one to cook in the kitchen. She didn't even let my daughter finish explaining. She and her husband were taking my husband and I out for birthdays. Daughter and husband didnt/couldn't eat anything :( Woman came around and filled water glasses and would not fill theirs. The food was delicious, but none of the 7 of us will ever go back there again I wanted to leave, but they insisted we eat. Think how we felt eating in front of them when they weren't and they were paying!!!

I've been coming here ever since I was a little kid and it's always been amazing food and service. it's since then changed ownerships but I've only ever had one bad experience here but that has long since passed by now. it probably needs a bit of cleaning and renovations but really other than that I hold this place dear to me and always will.
