Great food, service, and atmosphere for lunch.I stopped here with a colleague while in the area for a work trip. It was right around lunch time on a Friday and the restaurant had about half the tables occupied plus some folks sitting at the bar. Not too busy. We sat at the bar and were attended to promptly by one of the bartenders. No drinks for us on that day, although I wish I could have tried something from the brewery. We ordered and received our food rather quickly, although we had time to take in the atmosphere - high ceilings, a view of the brewery through glass, and a beautiful bar space in front of us.The pulled pork slider and hot Italian sub looked appetizing when they arrived, and we were hungry. The first thing we both noticed was that the buns were amazing. Felt almost freshly baked and had great flavor. My pulled pork was juicy and the sauce was mild in spice, sweet and tangy in flavor. We both ordered the tater tots which were seasoned. Pretty heavy on the salt in the seasoning, which is my preference, and crispy. My colleague enjoyed his sandwich and tots, too.Overall, I think this was a fantastic spot to stop for lunch and I wish I could come back for dinnertime to enjoy a few beers and another entree off of the menu.

No words! I usually try to write positive reviews, but unfortunately, this will not be one. We moved to Bardstown in 2021 and Scout and Scholar quickly became a favorite. The first brewery in the area WAS a treasure and provided an outstanding selection that would rival any breweries in Louisville. The previous brew master was clearly knowledgeable and especially creative. When I questioned the decrease in the beer menu in the fall, I was told that he was no longer with them. I wondered why. I now know that it's under new ownership. The food menu over the years has changed, but they landed on a menu that could please most everyone. The BBQ, quesadilla, nachos, queso, wings, brussels, coleslaw, and fries all had an upscale spin and were what we enjoyed most. It's all gone now, they even replaced the coleslaw with a sad, flavorless version you would find at a fast food restaurant. We both had the hamburgers with tater tots, a side salad, and 3 beers totaling over $65 + tip. We were especially frustrated knowing we could have had a delicious burger meal from Bardstown Burger for half that price! From the beauty of the building, to the attention to interior design details, the EXCELLENT service, and a menu that was unique and freshly prepared, Scout and Scholar was a treasure. No more!Last night will probably be our last visit....especially if they do away with the brewery. Our meal was an embarrassment to the Scout and Scholar of previous years. The menu was almost completely gutted of all previous favorites and is now like an OVERPRICED Cracker Barrel. The only bright spot was our delightful server Taylor! I predict they'll be closed by the end of the year unless they make dramatic changes and maybe even sooner if they close the brewery. Scout and Scholar deserves better!Just as a reference...We went to dinner in Louisville tonight at Mommas Mustard, Pickles and BBQ. We had two excellent dinners and 2 beers for $45 + tip!One last comment...I feel like there are SEVERAL restaurants in Bardstown that are basically Tourist Traps, relying on a one time visit. (You know who you are) Unfortunately, the best restaurants are at the distilleries and close early. I wish they would extend their hours at least one night on the weekend...it would really help those of us that want to take visitors out for a really good meal. Please consider it!

On multiple trips to Bardstown, my wife and I had planned to visit Scout and Scholar Brewing. Each time we were unable due to wait times, etc.So while attending The Bourbon Festival, we were able to get a table.I ordered the bangers and mash and my wife enjoyed her fried chicken sandwich. Both entrees had great taste. I enjoyed various samplings of their beers...while my Wife enjoyed a bourbon on the rocks. My beers had great flavor and went well with my Bangers and Mash. All in all , eating at Scout and Scholar was worth the wait.I cannot forget the shout out our server. She was fantastic.

Service was great... food NOT SO MUCH....they have changed their whole menu and only a couple of things are the same but NOT REALLY. We were regulars before the winter hit, but not now. Burgers were soggy, potatoes wedges are over cook, salad wasn't good because there is no more homemade dressing, new country ham pimento pockets- where too much bread!!! Not much flavor to them. Definitely NOT the regular scout and scholars... change in ownership wasn't a good idea....

The place was large, open and very interesting inside. Very cool vibe. The appetizers were tasty and service was fast and with a smile. Restrooms were clean. the bloody mary beer drink was amazing. But, I wasn't exited about the IPAs I tried. All in all, it was a good place and we will be back.

So, this is a really cool brewery. Fantastic service and location, fair prices, quality food, and excellent beer. What more is there to ask for in such a place? We had a salted pretzel as a starter and the house mustard was great. I liked the cheese just fine, but wish they had a beer cheese instead of standard queso (but no biggie). I ordered the bangers and mash as my main per our server's recommendation and it was great, the best I've had outside of British style pubs. My wife had the BBQ sandwich which she liked and she really liked the crispy tater tots. I tried a few of the beers and apologies as I can't remember the names though one was an IPA, one a chocolatey stout, the last a lager. My wife had a sour. All were really, really good.

Nice place for a meal. Wife just had a salad with chicken and I had the fried chicken sandwich. The tater tots were very tasty, a bit salty but good. We didn't try any of the beers as we were heading to a bourbon bar afterwards but they had a good selection.

Extremely disappointed! We travel to the area for the Bourbon trail a few times a year and this restaurant has always been a favorite, typically eating here twice in a 3 day trip. Came here last night for dinner and it doesn't remotely compare to what it was. Appetizer (fried ground beef something) Po Boy (waitress recommended -more like a Cajun sloppy Joe), chicken tender platter (sauced up breaded chicken tenders), potato soup (barely warm and bland), wedge salad (could only taste the bitter lettuce) , bill was over $100 (2 beers). Not sure how/why they would change such a good thing they had. Will not be back.
