Had dinner this evening at Schymik's - wonderful experience! We had to change our reservation to a later time and we were greeted with a wonderful table and a great host who said he was GLAD we arrived to town safely. Food is phenomenal, drinks are delicious. It was our second visit, the first time we sat outside and it started to rain, the hostess was outside when the rain began and moved us into the restaurant without hesitation - with no concern to how busy they already were inside. Love the customer service here.Second time visiting and looking forward to our next trip to Evansville so we can have dinner there again.

In the end the food was good. With that said it seems they were quite short staffed which is fine but let us know. It was about a 40 min wait from ordering to getting food. The waiters didn't know who had which guests. Again food was good but open communication with guests is important too.

Top notch.Does the neighborhood make the restaurant or the restaurant make the neighborhood? Well Schymik's is an absolute gem in the heart of Hanies Corner.Came in for the Sunday brunch and was not disappointed, from the flavorful bloody Mary to my delicious Eggs Benedict.Oh, and the staff are extremely friendly and engaging.

Has potential but we were disappointed. Our visit didn't really warrant 3 stars but there were some aspects we liked. We'd heard this restaurant from the owners of Sauced across the street was open. We excitedly checked it out and thought it was charming in the same Sauced way. All started well. Host was kind and welcoming. We sat upstairs and it was elegance and quiet. Loved the Sinatra style music. Here's where things went awry. I asked for a cocktail list. There wasn't one so i ordered a sparking rose. The drink I received wasnt sparking. It took 10 minutes to get the waiters attention. Turns out he was looking in the wrong section? Food wise the menu is tapas style. They recommend you start with a spread, then have small bites and end with 1 or 2 large plates. The menu is very pork forward so there wasn't a ton that sounded good. We didn't like the spreads and opted for the mezze plate since we love falafel. So it arrives and there's no falafel. They ran out and didn't tell us. They replaced it with an odd crabless crab cake. The platter wasn't very good but we ate a bit, had our drinks and moved on.Please tell us if you run out of a key ingredient. And please consider diversifying the menu for vegetarians and pescatarians. We may come back at some point but are in no hurry at all.

I was very impressed by this spot for Evansville. I don't live there anymore, but when I did there weren't places like this available. I would have probably given it a 3.5 if that were an option but rounded up because of the ambiance and service. The decor was great. Feels very contemporary and hip.The bartenders/servers were great. I requested a French 75 and they had never made one before, but happily looked it up and made one for me. It was great for it being the first one she ever made! My only small complaint is they use a Indiana gin (love supporting local!), but it is a very herbal tasting gin so it does change the taste of the drink than what is expected. It wasn't a bad taste necessarily, but different. In other gin cocktails, it could really throw off the taste. The tapas styles was a little confusing because based on the menu, it was hard to tell the size of plates. I think adding a note about how many it feeds or about portion size (e.g. 2 tacos, 4 meatballs, etc.) would be helpful. Apps:feta mousse spread - delicious! love it so much!mezze platter - This was better than I expected to be honest. Loved the carrot hummus! My only issue with these dishes were they list it as coming with naan bread and what was served seemed more like a pita bread. Still loved the bread, but it is different than I expected. Small plates: Brussel sprouts - very tasty overall! A little bacon-y for my taste, but I know I am the minority opinion when it comes to bacon. Drunken mushroom - tasted good, but felt more like a topping rather than a stand-alone dish. Braised beet salad - was expecting more from this. we usually love beet salads, but it felt like just a bed of arugula with beets thrown on top. Crabless cake - our least favorite item of the night. was soggy and heart of palm made it difficult to eat and cut. I've had crabless cakes that were so good, I didn't miss the meat at all and this didn't come close to matching that LargeLamb meatballs- big hit at the table! great flavor, not overcooked. Trout - one of the favorites of the night! So delicious! and the veggies were great. A little expensive for the portion, but nice. Katsu Tacos - very meh. would've been better as a not a taco. making it a taco made it messy and didn't add anything. A bit pricey, but love seeing these kinds of places popping up in Evansville!

We have been meaning to try this place for a while. We finally made it and I'm glad we did. Evansville is a virtual desert of great restaurants, but this one is an oasis. The decor was great, service was great, and the food even better. I love their menu, lots of southern favorites and interesting choices. My wife had the Brie burger and loved it. I had the stuffed grouper special and it was-well special! It's rare that restaurants get good grouper, and even rarer to not over cook it. The chef excelled in both respects. It was perfectly cooked and s very large portion. I highly recommend this restaurant!
