We enjoyed this very much. Although, they were super busy, and we didn't have reservations, we waited a very long time to get seated. That was fine since we knew we had to be fit in between others that did have reservations. We got seated and ordered our food, but the waitress came back and said they were out of both entrees we had ordered. We ended up just eating off the salad bar. The salad bar was fine, but we would've like to have had actual entrees. It was really too late to order anything else. The server was very friendly and attentive despite being so busy. We will go back to try again.Im only giving 3 stars simply because we only had the salad bar. Will update once we try again.

Schnitzelbank is worth pulling off the interstate for! A lovely German restaurant with a fun gift shop is a recipe for leaving stuffed and happy. All the German standards are on their menu along with a salad bar that is worth adding to your meal if only for the delicious bread. The food did have its hits and misses but was overall pretty good for its location. The mustard they provided is the best I've ever had and worth driving there for. Pass on the apple strudel - it's actually not good. Service was good and portions were big!

Ate here this evening. We had a waitress that was very prompt. She got our drinks quickly. The ambience was like you are in a different place. The ambiance was cool. It had a lot of stuff that made you feel like you were in Germany. I definitely recommend this place. The food was delicious. I had the patty melt with German Fries.

Food was typical German comfort food. The food was prepared well and the serving size ample. The red cabbage and German potato salad were hits. The service was a bit challenging. We placed a to go order. The hostess struggled a bit with the order despite showing her the item on the menu. The length of time to the food being ready was acceptable.

The wife and I drove up because we just like to eat here at least once a year. It's about an hour and a half drive from home. But no problem for some good eats. It was an excellent late lunch. We haven't had pickled herring since Amsterdam a few months ago.The salad plates are freezing cold. And watch out for their horseradish mustard, it will clear out your sinuses but not lingering. So good though

If you go to Jasper, IN to spend any time at all, make time to go to Schnitzelbank. To the locals, it's known as "the Schnitz"!The have a variety of American food like chicken tenders, hamburgers, steaks, pork chops, etc. There's also a comprehensive list of traditional German dishes. The service was outstanding and spot on with refills. There was a full list of wines and beers in tap and in bottles. The servers all wear German style clothing which adds to the ambiance of a nice family restaurant.

Food was delicious. I had pork roast which overwhelmed the plate and was tender. My sister had the wurst sampler which was delicious. My red cabbage was sweet and tender. My sister enjoyed her sauerkraut. Service was great. We were so full that we skipped dessert. We have another meal's in the refrigerator. It's not inexpensive. A nice place!

This is the Wiener schnitzel I received for my pickup order. The breading was already falling off before I even touched it and the german fries were just sloppily put under a parchment paper. Also not very big at all especially for a schnitzel, you would expect and want better and more for $35.00.
