Santa Fe La Casa De Las Barbacoas

This is a very basic no thrills traditional Mexican food restaurant. So it's basically a food truck with an inside location. The simple mostly a la carte menu reads in Spanish and the Mexican drinks only come in bottles. I had a chicken and a steak burrito and my friend had the tacos. The chicken was fantastic and the steak was pretty good as well. They have chicken, steak, pork, and goat. The owner here is super nice but the restaurant is not what most Americans are used to with chips and salsa, fountain drinks along with rice and beans with your meal. Oh and they don't accept credit cards. This is why I give it a 3 star and not a 4 or a 5. So If you like simple traditional Mexican food, have cash and don't drink a lot then please give this place a try you will most likely really enjoy your food. I know I did!

It pains me to write this review because I actually enjoyed my meal. Three of us visited this weekend and 2 ordered the verde pollo, 1 the Rosa with pork. The big bowls were filled with meat, hominy and the verde or Rosa sauce. The bowl was generous and it was accompanied with shredded lettuce, onion, radish, lime, and 2 nice slices of fresh avocado. Chips, sour cream, and a green salsa were put on the table. The food was tasty. Not especially spicy but I'm sure you could ask for more heat. I literally was very pleased until we went to pay. The menu stated the dish was 10.99 but the bill was over $53 dollars. When we asked about the discrepancy we were told the menu prices had increased by $4 so our dish was 14.99! There were many opportunities to tell us that prior to ordering. Nothing was said as we were seated, nothing said as we ordered, and no indication on the menu - like perhaps a sticker with notice. We didn't want to create a scene so we paid and left, but it "left a bad taste in our mouths." I may have ordered a different dish had I known the current prices. And, we felt deceived. I hope they make pricing more clear so no one is embarrassed. They only take cash - so be prepared.

Everything was amazing. Food was fantastic until we went to pay, which I saw this in another review as well that someone was blindsided when it came time to pay. We had 6 tacos and a soup, and for some reason our bill was 47$, when we asked about the price she told us the soup was 20$.... Soup was not worth 20$ and was not listed as 20$ either and they definitely played us with that. We were excited to have found such an authentic Mexican place and were pleased until this moment. We left with a bad taste in our mouth and a little mad as well, as we felt we got screwed over.

I moved here from Texas, and I'd say this is some of the best, authentic Mexican food I've had! I forgot to get a picture of the tacos and burrito but the salsa was delicious. It all was excellent, will be back.

Hole in the wall place with amazing burritos with a very nice staff. No English menus but that's how you know it's great! Plus some spicy salsa and chips to start in conjunction with traditional Mexican sodas.
