First of all every time we come there, everyone in there is very kind, considerate, and always smiling! The food was absolutely awesome!I took a few photographs if you're interested. I tell my friends about your restaurant all the time. Thank you for having such a great restaurant !I only have one complaint, though I wish it was a little bit more handicap, friendly. However, your staff compensated well for opening the doors everywhere.

On our last night in Louisville after a day on the Bourbon Trail, we went to dinner at River House. It's located right on the water. The restaurant has a large dining room, a great bar area and an outdoor dining patio by the water. The four of us decided to sit at the bar. What a great idea. We received fantastic service from the staff at the bar - such friendly and engaging interactions with Kristen, April, Maddie and Virginia. It really made our dining experience so fun. We started with cocktails, bourbon for the guys and martinis for the gals. I had a blackberry-cello martini, pretty and tasty. We shared the char-grilled octopus with twice-fried fingerling potatoes with bacon-artichoke vinaigrette and roasted garlic aioli. It was delicious, but the consensus was the octopus was chopped too small and got lost within the dish. We also shared the crispy jumbo gulf oysters served with chipotle cocktail and spicy remoulade. Yum!For dinner, I had the crispy grouper cheeks and gulf shrimp served over creamy lump crab-chive risotto. I love grouper cheeks and they were tender melt-in-your-mouth. I liked the risotto but didn't care for the sauce. If I ever go back (hoping to!), I will skip the sauce and vegetables and get the grouper cheeks without sauce on top of the risotto. Less is more. My husband had the Friday night fish special and I forgot what it was, but he thoroughly enjoyed it. We loved the atmosphere of this place and definitely the staff that was so welcoming and friendly. If you're visiting Louisville for the Bourbon Trail, I recommend River House.

This restaurant is simply amazing. My wife and I agree that this was one of the best meals we've ever had in our lives. Service = A+Food = A+Drinks = A+Atmosphere = A+View = A+The lump crab tower appetizer was one of the most delicious things we've ever eaten. Served with 2 types of butter and Old Bay on the side. We also had the grouper cheeks, 2 types of scallops, lobster, & shrimp. We will definitely return whenever we are in the Louisville area. Highly recommend. 5 stars plus!

River House has lovely views of the river and nice, modern, interior decor. I would say the food is just average though, and leaves a lot to be desired. The short rib was not stewed long enough to become tender. We didn't care for the shrimp and grits either, or the crab cakes. The food quality and flavor needs improvement I think. The complimentary cornbread is delicious though, and they have a great smoked old fashioned.

Ooooooh my goodness. River House is our favorite Chef Varanese restaurant. Came for brunch to celebrate my baby's 21st birthday!! (Had dinner at Varanese the night before)We got to meet most the staff who are so friendly and all about hospitality! We had an amazing time! Got to sit with Selvi who is PHENOMENAL!!! Just love love her! Just warm and always smiling and deliciously delightful! We were stuffed!! So let's get into it!The interior is beautiful and spacious. A treat to look at in itself! The food.... So full so fast. The cornbread is like what I make myself and so delicious! Will be forever ordering it. The steak quesadilla is so good- I can't have tomatoes so I just pick them out... lolThe lobster salad is my new favorite period. I'm from New Hampshire so growing up on the ocean with the freshest seafood has made me kind of like uuuhhhh to being landlocked and served seafood- IYKYK and you know when it's not fresh... but this is gorgeously wand so fresh. Pairs perfectly with the greens tossed in olive oil. Ordered her the caramelized pineapple colada - she LOOOOVED it! This place is unique and perfect so.. yeah go!! (As I'm getting ready to go again now) Thanks Crew for a fantastic time and helping make my babygirls birthday a special day and success!! Chefs kiss hit em five times And yes seeing the emojis do help with emphasis lol!!

My friend and I stopped in for a late weekday lunch. We were promptly seated at a beautiful river view table. The floor to ceiling windows provide a panoramic view of the Ohio River, I glanced over the seafood heavy menu, when I saw the chilled seafood salad, I needed to look no further. We enjoyed the warm artichoke appetizer, the seafood salad, and the crab-stuffed zucchini flowers. The cast-iron cornbread was the perfect sweet bite for the end of our meal. Our server was a kind young lady, attentive, but allowed us plenty of time for a nice leisurely lunch. The main attraction of River House is the view, so if you can, try to get a window or outside patio seat.

We came back tonight to enjoy delicious seafood and memories. The main attraction was the Monday night crab leg buffet. We had 5 at the table and 2 of us partook in the buffet. Our waiter with his team of help kept our legs coming until we couldn't eat anymore. They were delicious. My dad got the cerviche tuna appetizer and he liked it. He got the short ribs. I didn't think it was tasty. I guess when you visit a seafood house order the seafood. My mom got the lobster tails and was pleased. My son enjoyed the oyster rockerfeller. The oysters had cheese and spinach and looked yummy. We had a good time. The staff were wonderful and served us like royalty. My son ordered the grouper cheeks, blackened scallops and shrimp. He loved the fried oysters and crab cake. My mom liked her crab cake as well. This restaurant completed a wonderful job food wise and service. Will return 1 day.

Exceptional in every wayThe atmosphere at our dinner and our brunches are exceptional, especially if you get the patio on a nice day. Service: spectacular the service is always polite and helpful inviting and knowledgeable of the menu, friendly and fun.Atmosphere : spacious/ best patio dinning in the city indoor diving is always wonderful. It is open space and plenty of private dinner, you never feel crowded. The patio is the best in the city, overlooking the Ohio River with barges and the bell of Louisville going by and the perfect sunset and cool summer breeze. It can't be beat Food: seafood steak with a southern twist the seasonal menu is wonderfully prepared I very much enjoy all the seafood offerings from the wonderful curated oysters to the v tower filled with wonderful shellfish. The best in the city.

Very nice place to dine, and never a bad choice when entertaining out of town guests. Atmosphere is hard to beat...beautiful riverfront view outdoors, and the interior seating is vibrant and lively...good energy, but you can easily go for date night too.Food is excellent, and the pricing is actually pretty good for what you're getting. I wouldn't call it fine dining, but it's higher end quality without the completely absurd markup you'd get at a lot of spots with the river view. Strong cocktail menu.Service when I've been can be a bit slow at times, but I think that's a product of staffing for such a large venue. Severs are always friendly and helpful.

My girlfriends and I have made a tradition of going out to lunch together each Oaks Day. And this year, we chose River House. And it was pretty much perfect! We were able to make a reservation easily online, and considering how warm the spring day was, we got a table on the patio overlooking the Ohio River. Talk about a Louisville view! For my lunch I got the Chilled Seafood Salad Po'Boy. River House knows how to do seafood, and this was a delightful entree. Loved the fries too!We shared some drinks, as well as the Chocolate Peanut Butter Lava Cake and Key Lime Pie. It was the kind of lunch that made a day.And the cherry on top? We had our own Derby celebrity sighting. Sheryl Lee Ralph, who stars in "Abbott Elementary," was seated just a few tables away in all of her big hat Derby splendor. Turns out that a couple of my friends are BIG FANS. They went over to say how much they love her show, and she was welcoming and gracious. Our server was also great, getting us refills and helping us order. River House should not be overlooked! I want to go back soon for dinner too.
