Richwood on the River

I attended a women's wellness retreat here in August and it was such a perfect location for the event. It's proximity to several airports made it easy for people to travel in from all over the country. The quiet country setting was the perfect backdrop for a weekend of mindfulness, meditation, and conversations. We loved being able to use the pool, the carriage house for breakout events, and even walk along the river front on the path across from the B&B. The staff was friendly and accommodating to our needs. I highly recommend!

We stayed at this lovely B & B one night during Memorial Day weekend (the Sunday to Monday). We had received information prior to our arrival that check-in time was an hour later than normal because they had had a wedding party the nights before and needed a bit of extra time to clean and get organized for our arrival. That was totally fine with us. We arrived a bit after 3PM. Once we had located the owner Colleen we were being shown to our room. This night they were not fully booked and so she first showed us the room we had booked, but then showed us another room, which had the balcony overlooking Ohio River (which was the same price as the one we had booked) and said we could have this one if we preferred. Both rooms where looking really nice, but the balcony was a nice bonus. So we stayed in the Riverview Mansion Room. After we had decided on the room, she showed us around the rest of the house. And the mansion is really nice and well taken care off. It was clean and inviting. The areas where we could sit and relax was just really nice. We enjoyed a bit of time on the balcony, enjoying the afternoon and the gorgeous weather both pre- and post dinner. The bed was comfy, the room not too cold nor too warm. There was nothing really we missed in the room. Breakfast the morning after was also really nice. They had a few different spots to sit for breakfast, and since we were the first ones down for breakfast, we went for the table overlooking the river. We were then being asked about what we wanted for breakfast given a number of different choices. Breakfast was well cooked and tasted good! We were more than happy with our breakfast when we left to go pack our bags. If I would give a few few tips of improvements it would be to have free access to bottled (or filtered) water (perhaps there was, but it was not something we where informed about). There was two small, small bottles in our room, but they where emptied within 5 min of our arrival. Also, informing about what time breakfast is being served from (or having a card or something in the room, informing about that would be helpful). Also, a number of B & B we´ve stayed at have had information about local restaurants, things to see in the area etc in the room, or somewhere easily found, that we didn´t see either. But these are all minor details, but that would have made our stay even better. And, lastly, but that´s because I love it - a possibility to have breakfast outside, enjoying the lovely morning sun would have been fantastic!!Would clearly recommend this B & B!

Richwood on the River... Where to begin, first of all I am so thankful I stumbled upon this gem whilst on my search for beautiful mansions. Colleen and Nicole are who we made initial contact with to schedule our tour and complete aforementioned tour. They were very warm and inviting people. We had 100 questions (after touring 4 other venues and realizing there was often a lot of fine print and additional fees at every turn) but Nicole answered each of our questions with confidence and understanding. After realizing how much the Richwood team could help with and take off our plate we happily sent in our deposit. The lines of communication remained open in the 11 months proceeding this interaction (which for me was paramount as many vendors I came into contact with would agree to provide their services and then not respond or send a contract. Upon our arrival, Friday, Hannah and Colleen were very helpful in letting us know where to put our decor and wedding essentials. They helped up direct our guest to their rooms as the arrived and even helped my mother-in-law set up for our rehearsal dinner. On the day of the wedding Nicole and Hannah handled SO MUCH. Nicole made sure all of our vendors arrived on time, knew where to be and were set up on time. Hannah made sure all of the decor/tables/chairs and any wedding essentials were in place. They were truly a dream and I am so thankful I picked the Richwood. Our guest enjoyed hanging out on the grounds during the weekend stay, we enjoyed the hot tub and really were just at ease for the whole weekend. If you are on the fence I highly recommend making the leap and having your wedding at Richwood on the River.

Richwood on the River is an incredibly peaceful, enjoyable, and relaxing experience. Colleen and her staff are accommodating, welcoming, and do a remarkable job helping you feel at home - away from home. Breakfast was exceptional, and the views are breathtaking from any angle. Do yourself the favor and book a getaway.

I was Married here on Dec. 31st 2011. Absolutely Beautiful place to host a wedding. All of our Friends came down from Maryland and could not believe this place. All of the rooms are amazing and have a very comfortable atmosphere to them. The Carriage house is where the wedding actually took place and while it wasn't exactly ideally situated for a wedding it worked out wonderfully. THe Brick floor in the Carriage house was a neat touch and all of the beautiful craftsmanship was greatly appreciated and loved by all. The main house was decorated for the Holidays and really was charming. I think all of our guest fell in love with the Main house and especially the area off of the Kitchen where a large fireplace entertained everyone for hours and had plenty of sitting accomodations. Overall the place was very clean , very friendly , and above all very beautiful and relaxing. We stayed 2 days here and felt like new people when we left!

Would I recommend Richwood as a wedding venue? A thousand times YES!!! When you book this venue, you not only get the most gorgeous location and plenty of room for guests, you also get the greatest day-of coordinator and staff possible. This is not an exaggeration! Colleen goes above and beyond all expectations. She's not just a day-of coordinator or venue owner, she's a part-time wedding planner and will be your biggest cheerleader and source of support. During a time that can be hectic and stressful, she always remains calm, positive, and kind. She LOVES her job and that passion is evident in everything she does, from the smallest decoration detail to the well-coordinated and organized schedule of your big day. If you're looking for the complete package, look no further than Richwood. After saying yes to my now husband, choosing Richwood for the wedding was easily the best decision I made.
