I came here with my daughter and twin 3 y/o grandsons, so it was a little difficult to truly experience Real Hacienda the way I would have liked. I was impressed with the salsa; not too chunky and quite flavorful. The chips were good, too. Crispy, not overly salty and not at all greasy or stale. I would normally order one of the specials when I try a new restaurant, but it's hard to peruse a menu with an excited toddler talking to you. So, I just went with a chicken chimichanga. Most of it disappeared into the mouth of my grandson, but what I did eat had a good flavor. Unlike other chimichangas I've had, this one was in a thinner tortilla, so I didn't feel so stuffed. I'm looking forward to returning when I can take more time to study the menu and give the margaritas a try.

Quite possibly the WORST Chili rellenos I have ever had. They came out hot and the cheese was all bubbly but the poblano peppers! Tough as shoe leather. I don't know whether they weren't ripe or weren't cooked long enough but they were so off-putting that I didn't have more than a few bites. The service was quick with a server coming over as soon as he saw me take a seat at the bar. I ordered a Pacifico and asked for a glass. The "frosty mug" he brought was beyond frosty; it was coated in ice, inside and out. Had to scrape a bit out of the inside so it wouldn't dilute the beer, but on the up-side, it DID keep it cold. It's a typical family restaurant with a fair number of large parties, often with kids, so be prepared if you're looking for something on the quiet side.Maybe the other items are good but the Chili rellenos? Steer clear.

Fresh tasting salsa and hot crispy chips will always bring me happiness. This is the fourth Mexican restaurant I have visited in Owensboro but the first to really make me say this is exactly what I was craving. The fajitas were perfect and service was fast. Can't wait to go back

There are very few restaurants that consistently provide great food at really fair prices, especially for the portion sizes. In-laws bring us here when we're in town and I make a point to try something new. Too many options to make that easy but Armando's Pizza was crazy good and Previous trial of Arroz con Pollo (rice with Chicken).

I'm giving this 3 stars because the food was actually amazing. We just moved here and were looking for good Mexican food---so this place was a good find. I'm giving 3 stars just for the service. We came around 2pm, there were maybe 6 other tables in the restaurant, so not very busy but we ended up having to wait 30 minutes for the check. No other waiters in sight. We left money on the table and walked out. No my usual style, but when your entire staff is no where in sight....gotta do, what you gotta do. But again the food was great and the atmosphere was nice, just didn't have time to wait any longer.

The best service and Mexican food in town. Food always comes out fast. Even takeout is excellent.

I come here because I always order just chicken rice and cheese and they have the best in town their chicken is really moist. The service is always nice other than the fact that most of them don't speak very good English. The restaurant is usually always clean and always busy so if you are coming with a large group of people you might want to get here a little bit earlier. If you are waiting for a table you won't have to wait long because they get the food out extremely quick so it's kind of an in-and-out type of thing

My husband and I fell in love with this place right after they brought our margaritas and chips/salsa!! We made the "mistake" of ordering a large margarita, which just happened to be about a 32 ouncer!! HOLY MOSES!!! Note to self: when ordering margaritas here, you only need a small! We loved the chips and salsa. Warm and crispy chips always hit the spot and the salsa flavor was great! We ordered the Lenten special which was 2 fish tacos with rice. Minus the fact they brought the tacos in a flour tortilla, rather than the corn that we had asked for, the dinner was lovely. The fish was full of flavor and crispy on the outside with a good amount of pico de gallo and cabbage served over the top.Overall we were pleasantly surprised. Our server was most excellent, speaking to us in broken spanglish which was most epic after moving here from Tucson and not hearing a word of it. Had it not been for the 38 degree blast of cold walking out the door to head for the car, I would have thought we were back in Tucson! We shall return!

For as long as I've lived in Owensboro, I don't know why it's taken me so long to try Real Hacienda. Tonight made my first visit to this Mexican restaurant &, minus a few annoyances, it was a great dinner.I'll go over the few things I didn't like first. For a Saturday night a bit after 6, the place was definitely packed, however there was no wait for a table & an incredibly short wait for our order so that was great! This restaurant is pretty big but they have it packed to accommodate as many people as possible, which leads to having to dine right next to other people if you are seated at a table. I'm not the most social person in the world so I can't say I enjoy feeling like I am sharing my dinner experience with strangers. But, this wasn't a huge deal. The thing that bothered me the most was how incredibly loud the restaurant was. I could barely hear myself talk to my boyfriend right across the table. But if I ignore these small issues, this place was great. Service was good & the food was great! Basically what you would find at any other Mexican restaurants in the area but, the portions were quite a bit bigger which, being a bit of a fatty, I loved! Even my two year old's chicken strip & fries kid's meal was enough for an adult sized meal. The chips were basically the same I've eaten at other Mexican restaurants but the salsa was very good, just the right amount of spice for me! I will definitely be coming here from now on anytime I am craving Mexican, i just might not go when they are packed, but that is more of a personal preference as I prefer a quieter, more personal dining experience when I am out.
