SERENDIPITY From beginners to well experienced potters, you will find yourself happy you are in front of a wheel with clay seeing what will materialize. The most wonderful Miss Tanya is simply a gem of a human being, her staff reflects the good aspects of patience and fun times. They offer "Try it" classes. And solo appointments that you can work alone. I highly recommend you book a class early as they fill up quickly. Well knowledgeable to recognize when they should offer help or let you learn as you go. Life experiences. Feel free to ask for help. They care to help. Your pottery will make great gifts for yourself as well as loved ones. You made it with love

Hands down the best pottery classes in Louisville! It's a studio with mixed level groups and it's so cool to be able to see what people of different skill levels can do! The teachers here are amazing and give such personalized instruction, which is great if you're someone like me and not necessarily a "natural" when it comes to learning to throw! Everyone is patient and helpful, and if you follow in my footsteps you'll still be here learning new things even 5 years later! They also have one time try-it-classes in addition to 6 week sessions, so if you're looking for a cute date night idea or something fun to do with coworkers and friends it's really a blast!

Let's get the Ghost movie jokes out of the way!! You good? Good! I'm trying to tech my artistic self and what better medium to start with than pottery!! Upon entry, you sign in, have your temperature taken and you can bring your own apron or towel (dishrag size) or purchase at the shop. $5 and $1 respectively. You're then led to your table, which they are all socially distanced. You're given instructions on how to prepare your clay, your wheel and how to create your happy moments. You'll end up with four balls of clay but you can get more, if there's time.Everything is shown on a television over the instructor's head. If you're feeling overwhelmed, the instructor walks the floor and tries to help if things are going awry. If you have any pieces that you'd like to keep, you can have them fired and glazed for an additional fee, with the art ready for return around six weeks.I had so much fun, our instructor for the evening, Amy was SO patient, informative and helpful. The atmosphere was light and relaxed. I'm actually signing up for a session! So, round up your people for a fun evening and get dirty!!Lastly, you can have drinks, something in a bottle but I don't think anyone had the time to drink anything!!

Taking a 6 week session and loving it! It's very therapeutic and a great way to channel your inner artist! Id never taken a ceramics class before but always wanted to try one. The staff is very helpful but they don't micromanage you. I would love to do more sessions but it's a bit pricey. You do get to use as much clay as you can and unlimited pieces! Oh and it's byob and snacks ;)

If you're looking into a new hobby -- or even a fun girls' night out -- Payne Street Pottery is just the thing! A friend mentioned to me recently that she might like taking some pottery classes, as she had enjoyed doing that at college. A quick google search revealed that we could do so at Payne Street Pottery. We signed up online for a "Throwing Down and Getting Dirty" -- Introduction to the Wheel class on a Friday night, and we were on our way. The building is a small one-story place, and it was "blink and you miss it" on the dark evening when I arrived. My GPS let me know that I had gone too far. Once inside, though, expect to be greeted warmly by Tonya and to be inspired by the beautiful ceramics around you throughout the building. A line on the site listed this as "BYOB", and I brought some food but would recommend something sippable instead as your hands will quickly keep you from being able to grab finger food. The name of the class (Throwing Down and Getting Dirty) describes how you will need to throw the clay, but also that you will get dirty, so wear clothes that you don't mind getting a little smudged. This is also a great place to come if you feel like you need to work out some pent up frustration, because throwing down lumps of divided clay and re-slicing them is part of your prep. Of the 4 pieces of wet clay that I began with, I was able to form one on the wheel that I actually wanted to fire and glaze. I can't wait to pick it up and display my new handiwork for all to be amazed!

Went to a pottery class and made a couple of pots to be glazed. They said it would be about a month before I could pick them up. It's been over a month and they have not responded to any of my boyfriend's messages or even calling them, I don't mind waiting but I would like to have some kind of update of some kind.

What fantastic, friendly service! Tonya was amazing and so flexible in getting our group signed up for a fun night out / pottery class together! She provided us with lots of info and options. We had a blast with Matt, our talented and patient instructor for the evening. He helped center, pull, straighten and encourage all our work. Can't wait to see our finished projects!

I'd leave zero stars if I could. November 20th 2022 I placed an order for two seats in a "try it class" for 12/23. Got a confirmation email that gave students what to expect and what to bring. Well we had a major ice/snow storm a day before the class was supposed to take place that shut down 99% of most non essential businesses. The day before or day of the owner never sent out any emails or phone calls to inform people as to whether the class was still expected to go on. And even if they hadn't we literally were unable to leave the house. Which meant we were unable to attend that nights session. I called the very next day to ask about either rescheduling or if the owner was rescheduling and she said that the class did in fact somehow go on. After learning this, I asked about what happens next and after she argued with me about it being our fault for not braving a snow storm to make the class she said she'd have to call me the the next time she has a cancelation. That never happened, ever. I called numerous times FOR MONTHS and she either never answered, I emailed and never got an answer back, nothing. Literally wasted 100$'s and was robbed of ever having had the pottery experience. This was supposed to be a Christmas gift for my girlfriend and mom. Truly shameful. What kind of a business operates this way. Takes your money and never even attempts to get you into another class. Avoid this place and the owner and go to one of the other pottery shops in town. Which I should have done

I signed up for the try it class and glad I went but left a little frustrated to where I don't want to sign up for the classes. The instructor shows you how to pottery in 30 min and then you give it a try. There were several steps to where I wish we could of followed along or at least a video was continuously playing as I forgot what to do. Of course the instructor walked around to help but he had to with so many others I was often sitting waiting for help. Everyone learns different. They will send a long winded email asking you to bring towels, plastic bags, and cash to tip the instructor. I'm glad I brought my own towels bc there were no paper towels in the bathroom when I went to wash all the clay off to dry my hands. You will be aksed to wear a maks even if vaccinated which can be messy with the clay if you end up touching your mask like me. Ladies make sure to pull your hair back.. It's harder than it seems and didn't expect to be so frustrated. I guess it takes time to master the skill of zenning out while making pottery. If interested I would definitely do the try it class before signing up for the classes.
