Owsley's Lounge

Great beer selection and really good bourbon and whiskey selection. But, honestly the food is a little sketchy. Soup of the day? Chicken Noodle. Sounds great. Well, first it was served in a flimsy silicone toddler bowl complete with suction cup bottom so you can't knock it off the high chair. Now about the soup. It was pretty evident that it was Campbell's and given the temperature (slightly warmer than the surface of the sun) it was obviously nuked in the microwave. Hard pass on food if there's a next time. Finally, either the barstools are too short or the bar is too high. It's not a comfortable situation.

We went right when they opened for lunch. We all ordered drinks ans lunch. Out of 8 of use, 6 of us ordered different things from the menu. A few minutes after ordering the waitress came back to tell 3 of the 8 of use they didn't have what they ordered. A few moments later she came back to tell 2 of those 3 they didn't have what they ordered. She then came back a third time to let me know they didn't have what I ordered. You have to walk to get here which isn't an issue on a nice day. It is a cute little place and the waitress was great. The pumpkin pie martini was delicious.

BarEven though the name is something of a tongue twister, Owsley's Lounge is a welcome addition to the Jasper scene. Sitting right next to the Fairfield Inn on the Patoka river, it is a welcome addition for us weary travelers who want to have a cocktail and chat after a day of meetings. The nights we were there were interesting: they were trying out some new bartenders and the first night the lady was very nice, but just terrible. Sean (the main bartender) swooped in and saved the day, and was just a hoot to chat with.Second night, much better trainee and Sean was still large and in charge- this place has some serious potential and there is a new and almost open rooftop bar - imagine that for Jasper!Drinks were well made and there is food available - nothing to blow your mind, pretty much just bar food: pretzels, wings, nachos and some pulled pork. Looking forward to hitting it next time I am in that areaParking is somewhat limited with the hotel sharing the lot but definitely give it a shot if in the area

The beautiful mahogany bar draws you in but I recommend you stay for the food! The panini was great and artichoke dip delicious! The Martini of the month is always a good bet. The wait staff is super attentive even at the outdoor seating.

We were staying at the Fairfield Inn next door and opted to walk next door and try Owlsley's. It was early for dinner and not very crowded. Allowed us to chat with Rodney and learn about Jasper. Great conversation and wonderful bar food/drinks. Highly recommend the 3 cheese panini, smoked old fashioned, and mojito.
