A very stand-up establishment in the historical town of Old Vincennes. Located off the banks of the Wabash River and nestled into the epicenter of what is the first "Main Street" in Indiana...... This quaint Diner offers up the general fare you would expect from a divey-diner experience, but elevated. From the exquisite breakfasts, to beef manhattan lunches. You may also, want to choose from a wide array of delectable homemade pies, ahhh... The owners and staff are beautiful people that pour their souls into the food, and are there daily.Get there at a decent time during their posted hours though... If not, you'll miss out on the food you want, because everything is made to order, and so fresh, they don't waste any "thyme" with leftovers.A small secret... if you have a sweet tooth... Tell Chris, the owner, that your "Food tasted as good as Tom Brady's loving eyes look" & you'll be rewarded with a free piece of Pie!!!Gosh, oh golly, I love this place!

Standard diner fare in a cute little store in downtown Vincennes. I had 2 eggs, ham, and toast, and it was all tasty. The main reason I want to review this place is because it was SO cheap. I mean, you could eat here three times a week for the price of going to any other restaurant once per week. Most of the breakfast dishes were like...$5 or under. Serious deals for this kind of food, not something you see these days. I appreciated this diner for being one of few restaurants that just serves bare bones, basic food for cheap.

I rarely give a one-star review, but I just can't get past this visit to Olde Thyme Diner. I know it has gotten good reviews from most other folks, and I believe they are sincere. None of that, however, offsets the experience I had there. My wife and I were visiting Vincennes for a family matter and wanted to go to a "small town" restaurant for supper. Growing up here, I figured we would find something on Main St., and we found this diner. We got seated just fine and placed drink orders. Then came time to order our meal. I was able to order without much difficulty, but the whole time I was ordering the waitress kept talking loudly to a waitress up front -- pretty rude, but okay. Then my wife started to order. She tried ordering two things from the menu and neither were available. Then, the waitress said "hold on a minute" and just walked off. A couple minutes later another waitress arrived and asked to take our order. We said we had started ordering with a different waitress. The first waitress came back, tore off the ticket and gave it to the new waitress. Okay, so my wife, after being told the first two things she wanted were unavailable, ordered the kid's grilled cheese. She was told she couldn't order that either because she was too old. This isn't the sort of thing you can make an exception for when a customer has been rebuffed twice? Make it a freaking adult grilled cheese and add a couple dollars if you need to, but make something happen here. I mean, come on - would a little customer service kill you? After trying to order three things, we just said we didn't want any entrees and to cancel my order, too. Now, here is the kicker. My wife hadn't drunk any of her drink. I had taken two drinks from mine. Rather than doing the decent thing and telling us not to worry about the drinks, the waitress walked off and came back with a bill for $3.74 for the drinks. Seriously. And then, I kid you not, had the nerve to ask if we wanted to-go cups. Uh yeah, please let us take the drinks you are charging us for and that we didn't get to drink with us. But even better, the cups were too freaking small to hold the drinks we ordered. Awesome! Like I said, I know there are lots of positive reviews here, but I cannot in good conscience recommend this place. It's funny because I take pride in being from Vincennes, and we were excited to relax in a small diner with some good food. In the end, we got big city-treatment in a small-town restaurant.

Food was wonderful. Service was even better! The atmosphere lived up to its name. Definitely a throw back to the classic small town diner.

Best hidden gem Vincennes Indiana has. This is hands down one of the best places to go if you're looking for a mom and pop diner. The beef Manhattan is always on point. You also must try a slice of their freshly made pies. Everyday they have different lunch specials anywhere from meatloaf with mashed potatoes and corn or green beans to chopped steak with a broccoli salad or coleslaw. It never disappoints and you always leave feeling like walking out of grandma's house. The owners are the most friendly folks I've ever met. The also offer the classic biscuits and gravy for breakfast as well as other hearty items such as ham, eggs, hash browns, French toast just to name a few. They also have a steak many on Friday night's. I have yet to try their steak menu but will definitely update when I try it.

I travel about 100 days a year for work, I learned a long time ago that locally owned places have the most character and often the best food. This place is a prime example. Friendly staff and great food. Nestled in the heart of downtown Vincennes that seems to be enjoying an upturn in new businesses. I had breakfast and enjoyed it very much! Make sure and get the potato cake, I asked for mine a little crispy. Delicious! The only negative I have for the owners is a lack of cream for coffee. Serving only dry non-dairy creamer makes no sense, it is sort of like giving up. Next time I will bring some cream with me. Unless they start providing their own (hint hint).

I love this little place! I've been here for breakfast with my dad a couple of times and it's so cute. If you're visiting Vincennes to check out the history, come here! The breakfast was decent, I'd like to go and give it another try but it was definitely better than a lot of places in town! Can't wait to try it again.
