Old Forester might just be my favorite downtown distillery tour! The experience is well-organized, and they do a fantastic job walking you through the entire bourbon-making process. My personal favorite part was learning about barrel-making at their cooperage and getting to see the barrels fired up--it's fascinating and unforgettable! The tour ends on a high note with a bourbon tasting and a sweet treat. The Modjeskas, made by a local chocolate shop, are absolutely life-changing. I've even been known to stop by the distillery just to grab a bag of those caramel delights for myself. If you're lucky, you might find a limited-release bourbon for sale in their gift shop, happy hunting! The staff are consistently friendly, and the space on Whiskey Row is stunning. Highly recommend this tour to both bourbon enthusiasts and anyone looking for a fun, immersive experience in Louisville!

Old Forester is one of the originals, and this tour experience offers another great look inside the facilities and production coupled with the rich history of the impact Louisville has had on the bourbon industry. One unusual part of the tour, unique to Old Forester, included watching a cooper build barrels in a variety of stages by hand using very modern equipment. The tasting was a nice way to try out their special bottles (regularly available downstairs in the shop as well as most local stores) side by side. There is also an opportunity to taste their rare bottles in the house bar on the main level. And every day an allocated release is made available for purchase in the shop.

They are very efficient it their production, business model and distribution. All the tours were great, but this one stood out for their innovation and being able to do it in the heart of Louisville. In addition to the bourbon, they make these Modjeskas that are next level and they know it based on the price.

This is hands down the best distillery tour I've ever been on. We got a chance to watch a bourbon barrel get charred, see and smell mash, and watch the bottling process. The tour ends with a whisky tasting, free pin, and a taste of their chocolate marshmallows. The gift shop has everything you can imagine: bourbons, glasses, shirts, sweatshirts, etc. Gotta book way in advance for the tour, but well worth it.

Noah was a great tour guide. We came in on Black Friday morning and there was a line out the door and around the corner with people hoping to get the new release President's Choice. We enjoyed our tour and tasted the 1870, 1897, 1910, and 1920. I liked the 1920 best, so we bought a bottle on our way out.

Old Forester was one of the highlights of our trip! We did many tours during our Louisville visit and Old Forester definitely stood out. The tour was fun and informative and at the end our tour guide let us know about the special bottle they had for sale. We got to watch the barrels get charred and watched the cooper make some barrels! During the tasting portion they gave us a chocolate called a modjeska and it was SO good! I got some to bring home! We also stopped in for a drink at their bar and got some of their seasonal cocktails. We tried the gingerbread old fashioned and the brown sugar old fashioned and both were wonderful! We had been trying the seasonal cocktails at each stop and these two definitely stood out. We loved the decorations and the vibe in the bar area as well. The only thing we didn't like is that they closed so early! Definitely stop in but make sure to check the hours first!

Going from only being able to buy a few bottles at liquor stores every now and then to come here and try all their new new and different bottles. It was an awesome experience. Some of the things they had was just out of this world and they're distillery was awesome.

When in Louisville you have to hit up all the distilleries, especially if you're a bourbon fan! To be clear, we did not tour, only visit to the gift shop and bar for a drink. I chose to do a bourbon flight, others in the group chose an old fashioned. The bar tenders were very friendly and had great recommendations. Very few tables to sit at, but several round standing tables. Would go back and take the tour next time.

This distillery is located in downtown Louisville and is not their main distillery or production facility. This location does produce a limited amount of bourbon but is primarily a demonstration center that allows visitors to see the actual production of bourbon on a smaller scale. It is testing center that produces experimental bourbons in small quantities. The tour walks you through the whole process and our tour guide was excellent. This is definitely worth the visit - allow at least 90 minutes. There is a tasting following the tour.

Go for the 75 minute tour, you will not regret it. Our guide, Aaron was so knowledgeable! You learn lots of history and what differentiates Old Forrester from competitors. The tasting was guided, so it was fun and I learned a lot. The gift shop also sells some exclusive items, perfect for souvenirs, that you will not find in other places (like the airport).
