Nolin Lake has been my family's second home for years now. We started by RV camping at their campground facility, which was always nice, had plenty of space to roam around and nice showers/bathrooms. A couple years later my parents upgraded to a lake house, and they come down here almost every weekend (Even in the winter!!) I try to make it out here at least a couple times a year and it's always a fun time. The lake is gigantic and absolutely beautiful to cruise on. The surrounding neighborhoods have lovely homes and friendly people. All of the facilities that I have visited at this state park have always felt clean and nice. I could easily recommend this park to anyone. It is way out in the country off of the highway, but it is well worth it for a relaxing weekend in the sun!

Great little campground not too far from Mammoth Cave national park. They have electric and primitive camp sites. The campground is not that big, with one bathhouse and a playground. There is a dump station with 2 sites. The reservation check in has ice and fire wood, but it's hit or miss if someone is there to help you. We never even officially checked in because no one was there. We stayed on electric site #2 and it was perfectly shaded and quiet. The sites are nice and level with large spaces for games, hammocks, dogs, etc. Just outside the campground is the beach, park office and lake access for boats. The beach is small, but maintained well. We went on a 95+ degree day and the lake water felt like bath water, it was so warm. The lake was busy with a lots of boats and lots of beach goers. The park is pretty small, it mostly encompasses the lake, and there is not much around there. It take 40 min to get to the interstate and close to an hour to reach Mammoth Cave.

We arrived much later than expected, so it was completely dark. The set up was easy even at 8pm. The sites are large and level with gravel. I did my research and snagged site #23 when it opened up. It is at the very end of a little peninsula. The area between the site and the water is treed and gorgeous with a nice breeze. There is a good distance between sites, too.Our friends were driving up to sit around the fire with us for the night. We visited the visitor center at the entrance. We purchased more firewood, a t-shirt, and some batteries. Chester was the best!!! Make a point to stop and talk with him. He has extensive knowledge about the area and is just a nice guy! He was super helpful and obviously takes pride in the park.Bathrooms and showers were clean and adequate. The bath house is a long walk from the waterfront sites as you've read in other reviews. It was just my husband and I on this trip, so proximity to the bathrooms was not an issue. We did not use the swimming area or the boat ramp, but judging by the nice boats we saw, one could assume it is a nice place.Overall, this campground is the best we've stayed in. We have visited multiple Tennessee State Parks and this is our first one in Kentucky.

We stayed at Nolin Lake State Park Campground for 3 days in hope of visiting many exciting destinations in Mammoth Cave region. And we glad we did! Our site#3 has 80% shaded and short walking distance to bathroom. All RV sites were back-ins, and all were graveled sites with power pedestal and water spigot in convenient spots. Rates are different on weekday and weekend, so our rate was averaging $18/night. Bathroom were clean and functional; showers have hot water, even a pair of coin-op washers and dryers in laundry room. Boat dock is just past the main office, as well as some nice primitive sites near a beach back there. WiFi is none existence and LTE/3G is weak at some area. OTA TV signal provides around 10 digital channels. Dual dump stations are at the exit with blue trash bin nearby. Supplies run is just 10 miles to Brownsville. Great camping location with many sightseeing opportunities around. We would stay here if pass this way again.

A very nice and new campground. Came here during spring break far a 4 night stay. We were on site 23 of 32 total. This one as well as a few others overlook the lake. Very nice views. Only 3 sites were open on the Saturday we arrived but by Sunday night only about 10 of us remained. Pads were gravel and you can only place your RV or tent on that and not the grass. Not a problem as the pads are quite long and wide. The campsites had water, electric, picnic table, fire pit and a neat feature, a lamp or garbage pole ( depending on what you put on it). There are also 20 or so tent only sites with one site that is on the beach. Shower house is new and clean. 3 showers for each (male and female). Newer but small playground for the kids. On Saturday and Sunday we never saw anyone from the DNR but we may have just missed them. Travel to mammoth caves is just 20 minutes when you use the ferry but over and hour if you use just the roads. Overall a very nice stay. Would recommend.

Quiet, small, personal lake access on outer loop, clean! Definitely off the beaten path with virtually only an old school connivence store 10 minutes away. Planning on going to the national park later in the week - looks like about an hour away because the ferry is not running; rivers too low. If you're looking for a place near the caves this isn't it but if you're looking for a lake to camp on this is nice. I have not been to the other camp grounds in the area to compare but this is a nice place.

This is a beautiful campground with huge, shady sites. We booked one of the nicest lakefront spots 10 months in advance for fishing and kayaking. In general, it was great. However, a few negatives cost this campground a star: No wading/swimming, which pretty much prevented my husband from fly-fishing and made things miserable in the heat and humidity; fast boats and jet skis made kayaking treacherous, even on weekdays; the single trash bin area was overflowing when we arrived Sunday afternoon and remained so for 24 hours; the doggy bag area near the bathrooms was overflowing with filled poop bags our entire stay; the young gate attendant was personable but seemed more interested in joy-riding around the campground in his golf cart than cleaning up the aforementioned messes. Overall, this is an above-average campground with just a few downsides.

Cool location as we stayed here for Mammoth Caves. The site was nice and clean. However, we have been here a whole day and have seen no staff, no one is at the nature center, or at the check in office which has a sign that reads that it's been open since we've been here but is locked (where you can get ice and wood etc). The bathhouses and bathrooms that we purposely got a site next to are closed with no prior notices. The phone numbers posted online do not pick up. We are tent camping here with no bathrooms, and no staff. Other campers were also walking up to the bathrooms and said that they were on hold for a long time trying to talk to someone about the situation. Big bummer.
