We decided to buy tickets for an opera and see. what it was like. The building is handicapped accessible. I could access the building. They have a good sized area for wheelchairs, scooters and walkers. The balconies above are well thought out. You can hear and see well. The staff was great. the parking garage is right across the street. Try the facility out if you enjoy ballet and opera and want to support the students.

Ahhh, the MAC. Every IU music student's home base. So many good things to say. IU Bloomington is home to one of the finest music schools in the nation, and its preeminent theater, the Musical Arts Center, certainly doesn't disappoint. The hall seats nearly 1500 people, the stage has room for a 100-piece orchestra, and the backstage area is among the largest in the world. The acoustics are excellent. The interior has been described as "like something out of a Stanley Kubrick movie"--clashing red and orange walls, circular stairway cubicles and 70s space age furniture in the lobby. Not only is the hall itself cool, but the performances in here are world class. The opera program at IU is so renowned that the Met in New York will often donate its old sets to the MAC. If you haven't seen "The Nutcracker" here, you absolutely must. It's the best adaptation that I've ever seen, including the production I went to at the Marinskii Theater in St. Petersburg. The sets are breathtaking and the artists are among the best and brightest of the up-and-coming. Don't miss it!

It is a fabulous facility, great performances parking is awesome. Could use a better concession area and WOULD IT B TO MUCH TO ASK THAT IT NOT BE BLISTERING HOT FOR WVERY PERFORMANCE. LOL ITS REALLY QUITE WARM .. Perhaps too if the ticket sellers could not sit everyone on top of each other there are plenty of open seats. ...

Just attended the Nutcracker here and it was fantastic. I can't get over how Indianapolis can't cobble together a regular performance ballet company but IU's is so wonderful. There were some errors in the performance but that can happen anywhere. The theater is great, if not a little crazy in color scheme. You really can't beat it, especially for the cost. Looking forward to the spring ballet!

Great venue, cool design. Also the acoustics are awesome. I've been countless times, from things like small ensembles to the nutcracker. Would highly recommend seeing free Jacob's performance. I also heard the debut of the Buseli-Wallerab jazz orchestra's "Gennette Suite" there.

The Musical Arts Center is a state of the art music facility showcasing the best student performances here on the Indiana University campus. From opera to ballet to musicals the MAC shines. The multilevel facility allows for multiple different price level options to give access to anyone who wants to see a show. Students are provided with student rate tickets that makes it more affordable for students to attend. The Nutcracker is a delight during the holiday season and I would recommend making that ballet performance a family tradition.
