Murray's Restaurant

We were looking for a non-chain restaurant for breakfast. My sister did a Google search and it mentioned Murray's, so we decided to go find it. (Turns out, had we just continued on a little further in our exploration of the town, we'd have found it on our own!) It's easy to miss -- just a tiny, inconspicuous place on the road. We decided to give it a shot.First of all, they only take checks and cash, which is good to know. There's a menu on a whiteboard. but they have menus as well. My sister had oatmeal and I had a cheese omelette with toast. She said her oatmeal was good, although a bit thin. My omelette was fine, well-cooked the way I like it. There was no choice in toast -- just white. But it was fine.I'm glad we stopped. It's little places like this that make road trips fun!

Just a little country restaurant in a little country town. Best country breakfast I had in a long time!

We stopped in Murray's on Sunday morning after Derby day. It's slim pickin's on places to eat driving the scenic routes in KY. Murray's is just a small hole in the wall type diner, and usually it's those kinds of places that have the best down home cookin'.It was a huge mistake to stop here. We ordered coffee when the waitress brought our menus. Ten minutes later when she came back for our order, we still didn't have coffee and we asked again. It was extremely cold in the restaurant. We ordered, but were told they were out of gravy (which I wanted), so I ordered biscuits and bacon. My husband ordered a western omelette with hash browns and toast. We waited another 5 minutes for coffee and then my husband got up and went into the kitchen to ask for cups so he could pour us some coffee!She finally brought our coffee then!His omelette was ok, the frozen hash brown rectangle tasted like fish (old oil) and the toast was so dark he had to scrape the black off of it. Biscuits and bacon were okay. It took about 40 minutes to get our food. During that time, another customer got up and refilled his coffee and then ours. This was the worst service ever with barely mediocre food.

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but this is a quaint little diner. They have daily specials and menu items. Be sure to come with cash- as they do not accept cards.... But otherwise this is a good place to stop for breakfast or lunch (they close at 3).

The food was decent and the price was okay. My problem with this place is the cleanliness, the service, and the dumpster smell. I've been here twice, once about 3-4 years ago and once the other day after a local foodie gave what I think was a dishonest review, because he was hired by the town to promote the restaurant. The place is unclean. Dirty tables, dirty condiment containers on the table, dead bugs everywhere and ceiling tiles hanging out over people's tables. Same server both times. She hides in the back, we waited forever for her to come out of the kitchen, she took our order, she brought our food and then never came back, not to check on our food, not to see about refills, nothing, she stayed in the kitchen.

Home cooking friendly environment. Staff is nice. Makes you feel at home. Only had breakfast there and it is GREAT

Great southern food. Great community family atmosphere. Their daily meat and vegetables is a plus! Homemade rolls. Fridays is a must, for their Catfish special. The best western & meat omelettes and all you can eat Country Ham breakfast on Saturday's.

A breakfast stop during our road trip. It's a small, local place with good food & nice people. When we were there the place was full so it took a while for our food just know that if you're in a hurry. Everyone in there was local so you know it's good.

Definitely not happy and not going back! I do not recommend this place to anyone! The bathrooms are disgusting! Food was presented sloppy and it wasn't even that good! We wanted to pay 2 separate tickets so we were expecting 2 right? but we had around 8 tickets so you can understand our confusion! Long story short she got more money than she should have!!
