This is gem hidden in plain sight! They've done an amazing job transforming this space. It's worth popping in and at least having an app just to see it. The speakeasy in the basement will soon be the hottest space downtown for locals. This is your heads up to try it before there is a constant line to get in. The entrees were awesome, but the service was even better. The wait staff was very helpful and friendly. We tried many things and were very pleased with them all. Will be back to try other menu items and off course a drink downstairs!

By far the best steak I've ever had! The food speaks for itself but the service and ambience is top notch as well. We had the opportunity to meet the Chef who is from NY and bringing some awesome Italian flare to steak and bourbon! We tried several desserts and the cheesecake was outstanding! The panna cotta was my favorite as it's not super sweet. Absolutely nothing bad to say about this place!

Top notch experience! It's (sadly) uncommon to be able to say not a single dish missed, or even strayed, but that's the truth of my visit here. Starting with the cocktails (as many a meal will), the menu of signatures is concise and exceptional. The smoked old fashioned in particular, while pricy, is one of the best I've had. And the rest were quite tasty.Food was amazing. Every steak at the table was perfectly cooked, well-seasoned, and satisfying. Sides were excellent...especially one. The creamed greens. I've had creamed spinach as a steakhouse staple countless times. Always good. I may never be able to eat that again though. These collards were exquisite, a creative riff on the classic that so far exceed the staple that I don't know how to go back. Desserts were equally amazing. Cheesecake was aBeautiful balance of sweet and savory. Sorghum brownie was delightful.Great venue. Just classy enough without being snooty...don't roll in there with gym shorts or anything, but a casual vibe where a suit would be welcome as well.Service was exceptional. Our server knew the menu cold, had great recommendations, and made us feel welcome. The executive chef even stopped by...which always means a lot when it happens. In brief, an exceptional new addition to Whiskey Row and Louisville as a whole. I look forward to many more visits.

We stopped in here on a Saturday evening around 7 o'clock with reservations. This is where the Albano's is downtown Louisville next to the Yum center. We were seated with our reservations at complementary bread and I got water a ribeye and we also got mac & cheese and potatoes. Everything was pretty good. I think it was overpriced on the mistake. In my opinion I've had better. I've had worse, but it was pretty solid still. I think the ambience was pretty good Had no problems decent so I tell people to try it

While hunting for a restaurant my husband and I hadn't been to before, I stumbled across Monk's Road Boiler House. We had an early reservation and got seated in a booth inside a bourbon barrel. It was elegant, with a chandelier inside our booth. It felt intimate and cozy. The atmosphere in this restaurant was tasteful and sophisticated. It was a bit eclectic with refined table settings, industrial (albeit polished) looking ceilings, with rustic exposed brick. This is a perfect date night spot. The restaurant also has a speakeasy downstairs, complete with a secret entrance.I started with The Boiler House Wedge Salad- Baby Iceberg, Green Goddess, Pepperoncini, Dolce Gorganzola, Bacon Crumble. For my entree, I ordered a half portion of Gnudi Pasta-Ricotta Gnudi, Basil Pesto, Toasted Pine Nuts. For my drink, I ordered a Dry Manhattan- Monk's Road Rye, Artichoke Amaro, Apricot Liqueur, Castleveltrano. Dinner rolls were served along with our salads. I also shared everything my husband ordered. For his drink, he ordered a NY Sour- Rattle & Snap Tennessee Whiskey, Fresh Lemon, Honey Syrup, Lambrusco. For his salad, he opted for the Caesar-Honey Gem, 63° Egg, Parm Crisp. He ordered the Pork Chop- a 14oz Bone In Berkshire Pork Chop, Grilled Georgia Peaches, Fingerling Potatoes, Bourbon Glaze. The service was inviting and friendly, from literally everyone: hosts, waiters that weren't ours (but who greeted us coming and going), and everyone else we encountered. Our server, Allison, was professional and personable. She engaged in conversation the exact right amount. She was knowledgeable about the food and cocktails and helpful and helping us choose the perfect dishes. I can't sing enough praises about the food. This is the kind of place that left me feeling like it was one of the best meals of my life. The pasta melted in my mouth. I finished my half portion and immediately ordered the other half. My husband's pork chop rivaled any I've had in Louisville. Our salads (especially mine) were phenomenal. The only downfall of my return will be the temptation to order the exact same food. As much as I want to explore the menu, I know I'm going to jonesing for this pasta.

Had NYE dinner at Monk's with friends. Great service, good food, nice downtown vibe, clean restrooms and right next door to the YUM center! Parking close by, but somewhat challenging, so we took a Lyft downtown. The lobster ravioli was what I wished I had ordered. The shrimp cocktail was amazing

WOW!!!! What a phenomenal meal I just had. I'm always up for trying a new restaurant, and I'mglad we gave it a shot. It's not often we go down town to the touristy areas but this place looked promising. When you go in you have to walk down some stairs (I didn't see any handicap accessible entrance FYI) The ambiance is really cool, love that it's in the historic original Galt house hotel. The hostess seemed less than thrilled to be there, but it was a brief interaction so I wasn't too concerned. Spoiler alert, this will be my onlyComplaint. Our waitress quickly came to the table with water and gave us time to look over the drink menu. There were lots of yummy cocktails and a good wine list. I got the champagne cocktail and it was delicious! I even liked the glass it came in, so much so I had two. Our waitress took the time to discuss the menu and give her recommendations. Explained how they like to course it out and that the chef has Italian heritage (i immediately had high hopes for the pasta). She gave us a few minutes to make a game plan based on the overview she gave. She came back and we proceeded to order a ton of food. We started with the End of summer salad. This was out of this world, lick the plate good, I'll be dreaming of it for days. Ricotta, tomatoes, watermelon, peaches, balsamic...perfection. I wish we wouldn't have shared. Next up we tried the gnudi. A ricotta gnocchi with pesto and pine nuts. Another out of this world dish. We got the small order that came with 5 gnocchi's, honestly I could have eaten 50. So good and the fresh pesto was something else. Next up our entrees, I wasn't sharing this one, hubby got the pork chop with peaches and a bourbon glaze. The pork chop was perfectly cooked and the peaches on top sent it over the moon. I got the 8oz filet, it was cooked to perfection. I added the lobster tail, which was so deliciously cooked and seasoned I didn't miss the clarified butter. I also got a side of whipped potatoes with the truffle butter. If you get the potatoes get the butter, don't get me wrong they were good without it but with it they were exceptional. For dessert the hubby got a chocolate espresso cake, he said it was good, it was not overly sweet and a little salty. that's not my jam so I'll take his word for it. I got the coconut Panna cotta and it had a passion fruit (I think) topping (very thin layer) and ohhh it was scrumptious. The perfect end to what I am going to say was a perfect meal. THEN (sorry so long) after walking out, we bumped into the owner, who told us about the speak easy in the basement! So we turned right back around and went back in and down another set of stairs and found some hidden rooms including a speakeasy. It was so cool, a great place to pick up a drink after an evening out if you didn't want to do a full dinner. It was pricy, but we got a lot and it was so amazing. I absolutely cannot wait to go back! Especially because they have sessionalItems so can't wait to see what fall brings. Thank you for a wonderful date night Monk's Road!!

First and foremost, the service was phenomenal. We had Andrew and he was great. The restaurant looks amazing. The food was good, but not great. The charcuterie board was not a fan at all, but my sisters loved it.The summer salad was great. I just wish the portion was bigger for how much ricotta whip they put on the plate.I really did enjoy the picanha steak with the chimichurri and tomatoes it was amazing. The risotto was a lot of textures for me.The pappardelle meat sauce itself was great, but the noodle was either under or over cooked but could just be that they are made from scratch so they cook different. The chocolate cake was good but was not a fan of the sea salt on top. Overall great experience and I do recommend trying but def go for a steak.

I really loved the decor and vibe of this restaurant. Our table was inside of an oversized bourbon barrel! Unfortunately, the food and service were just OK. For the price of the food, I had high expectations. The arancini appetizer was delicious, but everyone's entrees were good, but not great. Dessert was equally meh. Our server forgot our drink orders multiple times and they strangely did not have a list of their in-house bourbon (or any other bourbon). I think they've been open for 6ish months? Maybe they are just working out the kinks still.
