Some of the best food you can find can be located in a gas station. The best banh mi was in a gas station in Metairie, LA. And this Indian food at this British Petroleum is top notch. We tried the samosa chaat and chicken tikka masala. Both were excellent. Get it with a little extra spice and your taste buds will thank you. The gas station is clean and you get service with a smile. I can't wait to go back and try more.

So this is the schpeel. The actual restaurant is located to the back of the gas station convenience store at this location. The convenience store goes by another name, Gallops. This place touts itself as a Mexican fusion place, but it is not really Mexican fusion in the sense. What it is is a restaurant that serves both Indian and Mexican food. So if you want tacos, you have tacos and if you want Indian food, you get Indian food (chicken curry with rice). I would love to see an idea where the chicken curry could be used as a salsa-meat selection equivalent to when one would put say cubed chicken pieces and salsa in a taco. That would be Indian-Mexican fusion. All I received that was somewhat exotic was lamb meat (which is not used very frequently in Mexican or American cuisine). The only thing is lamb is more Middle Eastern cuisine. Quick background on Indian culture. Majority of Indians are vegetarians. The regions that live closest to the ocean or whose families are land farmers tend to eat chicken, fish, etc. None of my family were farmers unless my parents tell me otherwise, but I grew up eating chicken and fish. Lamb was never on the menu. I was also shocked to see more flavors of Ale-8 than I thought were in production. Apparently, there is a Blackberry flavored Ale-8? Only at gas stations folks, one can find the unknown. I am still looking for a place in Lexington that sells Doner Kebabs. I asked the cashier about it and he has no idea what I am talking about. No, chicken tikka kebabs and paneer kebabs are not the same thing. It is a Turkish dish served in countries of UK and Germany. It is almost like a gyro nachos, but bigger. I am still wishing some place would have this dish. All in all, a good experience. I did not get any of my items bagged so....eh...I was a little annoyed about that. Then again, eco friendly ;)! The taco was white flour tortilla wrapped and the quesadillas were also white flour. Suggestions: Everyone has heard of the Mexican Pizza...erm...Taco Bell.... This place is located next to a pizza place, inside the gas station convenience store. Why not an Indian pizza? The cashier told me to try it on flatbread. -_-. No. As an Indian ethnic, an Indian pizza would be on a ROTI, Paratha, Naan, etc. If you want the Mexican Indian fusion quesadilla, go with a dosa. Dosa peet and make that into a tortilla for the quesadilla. It would have the same texture. If you want the Mexican Indian fusion taco, go with peet that is used to make puris (any Indian will know what I am writing about). This are optimal size for tacos. Come on people! :DEdit: I just needed to add for people to check your receipts. I would do a checkout online. You will find that the same things ordered will be more expensive when you pay and if that is the case, they may double tax you. They print out one receipt at the restaurant and then ask you to pay in the front. You will be taxed for the Indian food again along with a beverage. I will show you what I mean once I upload the receipt. Lamb Quesadilla $6.99Lamb Taco $3.50So it should come out to $6.99+$3.50 = $10.40 x/+ (means to multiply and then add, something I made up) 0.06 (KY sales tax) = $10.40 + 0.624 = $11.024 (usually rounds down, but I will round up). I bought a regular priced Ale 8 at $1.19. But remember, $1.19 is taxed, $1.19 x/+ 0.06, so $1.19 + 0.0714 = 1.2614. The total should be $11.024+1.2614 = $12.2854 I am not even sure if things MADE are taxable because Krispy Kreme never taxes their doughnuts (so it should have only been $10.40 + 1.2614); but for the sake of honesty, I will pay sales tax on everything. My receipt states $13.96. I was double taxed. And actually, if I was, it would only come out to $13.02 O_O. So where is the other $0.94 coming from?

So what if it's in a gas station. These are some of the best tacos I've had. And they have craft beers on tap! I make a point of gassing up here on my way to Florida so I can order their tacos and other food items. Beats the fast food places hands-down.

If you're looking for a large beer selection, incredible curry, flavorful tacos, or fantastic customer service, make your way to Gallops/Mirchimex! The owners are always so welcoming, and friendly. My daughter loves going there with me, because the owner gives her a lollipop. One time we needed a grocery item they didn't sell, so they went back in their kitchen and got some for us! When we have out of town guest, we always take them to Gallops to buy beer, curry, and tacos. They always laugh, until after they've eaten their food. It's seriously so delicious you all! If you've got a growler you want to fill, you can do that there too. Seriously, best gas station in all of Lex.
