Mi Mi's Southern Style Cooking

Hello one and all.I would love give my honest opinion about MiMis.... If you are looking for lipsmacking southren food this is it!!!! We went for lunch and we're very friendly customers. Visited MiMi's for Burger Week and enjoyed some truly authentic southern cooking - think Sunday church potluck or a localized (and more flavorful) Cracker Barrel.Mi'Mi's is a walk-in, counter order restaurant located in a strip mall. There is plenty of seating after you order, including room to pull together tables for a large party. The decor is pretty basic, but is clean; honestly, even accounting for that for what you pay it's more than adequate. The price point here is amazing for the quality - it would cost more to feed my family of four at Chick-fil-a!I don't think the staff was equipped to deal with the burger week crowd, and people were complaining about the wait. It took 45 minutes for us to get our food (from time stamp on receipt to food on table). That being said, for a kitchen of 3 people and considering they cooked to order, I'm not too unhappy about the wait.The food: we tried both burgers and cut each into fourths, and also ordered green beans and mashed potatoes. Everything was incredible! Our favorite was the Mac and cheese burger - the Mac was that creamy potluck with some burnt cheesy crust that I just can't make at home. The pickled jalepenos and bacon added heat and crunch, and the bacon was perfectly thick and crispy. The waffle burger was also great and really structured well - while the Mac and cheese was definitely messy, the waffle burger held up to the handheld test. Very creative and our teens love it.I'm going to call out the green beans as the best I've had in Lexington - probably not vegetarian but so juicy and yummy!Our family engaged in the 'great kool-aid debate' - the jugs of koolaid were a great treat, super sweet though. For the record - the pink is watermelon! :)I would definitely come back - probably off peak hours.

Going to Mi Mi's you will get awesome portions, delicious food and a great price. You are not going for ambiance. Lol it's simple and clean. We ate in but it looks like most orders are carryout. Could not resist the catfish. The potatoes and greens were bomb. My bf inhaled the green beans and mac & cheese. And don't forget the corn bread. And sweet man that waited on us acted like he was serving his family. Made sure it was heaping! So so good! This was an outstanding find.

This place was suggested by a friend working in the area. We walked in and were able to order with no wait. There was plenty of seating in the dinning room. I ordered the meatloaf, mash potatoes, and greens. The servings were huge. Everything was seasoned nicely. Meals come with corn bread. The lady brought the corn bread, came out hot from the oven. It was delish. My husband got the Jamaican jerk chicken. Sweet and spicy Just the way he likes it. I took half the meat loaf home. We will come back when in the area.

This place was mediocre at best. I wanted to love it, reminds me of the south with the set up hot bar. We stayed to eat. Order at the counter and seat yourself. There was no real menu, a guy behind us told us they had fish if you ask for it. They didn't give us hot sauce or silverware, we went back to the counter no one was there, so we just grabbed it ourselves. No one even came out lol.

I've never been disappointed at Mi Mi's, but you gotta know what to expect. Expect a very casual setting, plastic forks, and very kind folks. The food is flavorful and there no waiting. They don't focus on making the place look pretty, and they don't focus on being healthy; they focus on feeding the soul and sometimes that's what I need! Since it's hot-bar style I always call ahead to see what they have but they probably have that information somewhere. This time I got smothered pork chops, greens, mac, and cornbread. I was lucky to get fresh cornbread this time and shew lawd it hit the spot. The servings are so huge even I couldn't finish it.

Nothing stood out as exceptional. With this as my last meal here in Lexington for some time I made a point of ordering a few extra sides to try. My meal was one piece of hamburger with brown gravy and one fried pork chop. My sides were greens, macNcheese, mashed potatoes l, and corn pudding which was the best of the group. I would give it a second try but yesterday's meal across town was better

Food was great. Daughter has been attending UK for 3 years and on the 4th we made it here. If you're in Lex make this the spot for some soul food.

I go to Mimi's more than anywhere else for lunch. One meal is enough for dinner as well. I usually get the fried pork chops (you get two big ones), perfectly seasoned greens, and yummy Mac and cheese. It comes with cornbread perfect for dunking in the pot liquor from the greens. We got strawberry cake the last time I went and oh, my. :) Well worth the price!

Tried MiMi's for the first time and it was excellent! Would highly recommend. It's cafeteria style but if they don't have the emtree on the bar that you want, they will prepare it for you. We had the fried chicken and the catfish and both were great. Also, I'm not a huge fan of cornbread, but their cornbread is probably the best I've ever had. Sweet and extremely moist.
