This is the best place. She makes the most delicious cakes. She did our wedding cake and I can't wait for her to do something else for us. My favorite flavor is pineapple butter cake. It sounds odd but it's delicious. Go try it for your next event!

Mert's describes their Praline Cakes as "spirited", owing to the bourbon infused in their cakes They are light and airy, and drizzled with chocolate. They're divinely delicious! Packaging is beautiful, and they even do custom designs on the boxes. They'd make great gifts, or a little self indulgence.

Virginia made our wedding cake in 2005 and "divine" doesn't do it justice. It was absolutely delicious and well worth every penny we paid for it. Not a slice was left at the end of the reception as we had guest going back for more and trying another flavor. We had a 3 tier cake - butter with a raspberry filling on bottom, devil's food with a chocolate ganache in the middle and then another flavor on top which I can't remember now. Every layer was delicious and we keep saying we're going to have her make us an anniversary cake and ship it up.The decorations were simple but exquisite. All in all, the cake was perfect and I would highly recommend her again and again.

I was so happy with my wedding cake. Virginia did a fabulous job and the cake was amazing! I had a chocolate ganache with raspberry on the bottom with a red velvet on the top. Loved it!

I've been ordering Mert's Cakes for MANY years. I surprised my Husband with one after seeing it on the Food Network maybe eight years ago. I always order it online and it's promptly shipped to my house. They are even able to accommodate the date I usually need the cake by. Overall, the delivery/service all the way to Arizona has been fabulous.Now, the cake. It is to die for. Buttery, light, moist, with the perfect amount of rum. Even with time and shipping the cake is always presented beautifully and it's always fresh and delicious. I highly recommend you give this amazing cake a try!

We tried multiple bakers before we went to Virginia when in the planning stage of our wedding. So glad that we went! Absolutely the most delicious and beautiful cakes in Louisville! I have referred many people to her and everyone I know that purchased cakes from her have been blown away. She has quite a gift! I wish I could get married every weekend just for the cake! (try the lemon cake with raspberry filling....amazing)

She is at it again!!!! Virginia at merts cake is incredible. She made a cake for my sons first birthday and now for his second. Omg i dreamed of this cake for an entire year. The strawberry and mawmaws butter cake melt in your mouth. Plus, virginia did research on my toy story 2 theme. I was shocked to find out she actually dug deep and noticed toy story 2 had stars instead of clouds. She is wonderful and you don't have to worry about how it is goiing to look or anything. You just know she will knock it out of the park! And ps this is the only cake we have ever had that is entirely devoured at the party. Never any leftovers so you have to act fast

My husband and I hosted a small wedding at our home. We ordered a cake from Mert's Kitchen and not only was it beautiful, it was absolutely the best cake I have had. I am gifting their Paline cakes this year.

Virginia made our wedding cake almost 10 years ago - to this day everyone remembers our gorgeous and delicious cake. We had a 5-tier cake plus 2 extra different flavored cakes and they were GONE! Our caterer said they'd never seen a cake completely disappear in all their years of weddings. Virginia has made several cakes for us over the years: birthdays, baby showers, anniversaries, etc. and each time it's moist, delicious, and gorgeous! She's very well priced, the sweetest woman in the world, and is a total cake visionary. She is absolutely fantastic!

The owner of this shop was condescending and looked down her nose at me when I to her my budget for our wedding cake. I have spent a lot if time cake shopping and meeting with different bakers to get the best price. Everyone else had been accommodating and gave me what they could offer for my budget. Virginia laughed at me and told me I would not find that price anywhere. I told her I had found several in the city who were in that price range. She then began to tell me that the other shops would be ordering the cake pre made for that price. She is mistaken to say the least. There are several cake shops in this city who will bake a cake from scratch, that taste good and is beautiful. It does not have to cost a fortune. I have never before been treated this way as a consumer. Shocking. Spend your money where people treat you kind and want to work to earn your business.
