I first came here by providence because the restaurant I had intended to visit was closed. Several visits later I have realized that this restaurant exists by a divine act of God. Do not let the bars on the windows, sketchy neighborhood, or gun shots in the distance fool you, this is likely the most unique and best restaurant in Bowling Green. Skip the swanky restaurants downtown and experience the "real Bowling Green" here. They have all the regular hispanic dishes that we know and love (burritos, tacos, etc.), with some added El Salvadorian specialties such as the pupusas. My personal favorite is the pork burrito.Don't forget to check out the grocery store next door!

This is the OG taco spot in BG. Love everything they do, plus the market has all kinds of good snacks and foods.

I love Mercadito Hispano! Their tacos, pupusas, burritos, and everything else are the bomb. The staff is extremely friendly. There is a tiny language barrier for a little quite boy such as myself BUT that doesn't hinder the process at all, and in fact enhances it. The place has a casual lunch atmosphere and I come here as much as I can. Today I tried their pozole for the first time and adored it. My coworkers are annoyed with me right now for carrying on for 20 minutes about how good it was. This being the second time I've ever had pozole, I'm making reviewing it my new thang.

WOW. This is some of my favorite Hispanic food EVER. It's quite a gem in Bowling Green. If I'm being specific, this is an El Salvadorian restaurant though to many it may seem like just ambiguous "Mexican" at first. Once you try the food, you know something's different because it's just so so good. The first time I went, I got two chicken tacos and queso/chips. The tacos were small (authentic) and the tortilla tasted fresh and made from scratch aka delicious! The queso was everything you could possibly want from a warm bowl of cheese. The chips were very obviously fresh from the fryer and are the best tortilla chips I've ever had. I haven't tried the salsa yet but I bet it's worth it! The service has been great, too. The lady usually working the register is very helpful trying to pick out what you'd like (the menu can be a little confusing) and she is very patient! Overall, this place really is a gem. If you live in town or are just passing through, don't let the exterior turn you off! It's worth a stop in and you will love it, I promise!

I loved this hole-in-the-wall little place off of interstate 65 in Bowling Green. I was passing through and looking on yelp for some food local tacos and found this place. It was totally worth the short trip off the interested. The place is in the middle of no where and is a little Hispanic grocery store with a small restaurant attached. Let me tell you, these tacos were amazing! I loved the hot sauce that came with them as well; definitely spicy but with flavor. My mom ended up getting some churros for the road from the store and enjoyed those as well. I recommend going for tacos here for sure!

Great homemade dishes! The queso and salsa are really good. The papusas are good - a bit like an enchilada stuffed with cheese and beans. The burrito is huge! Great folks here and a good grocery store attached. Come give it a try!

Can you say pa pousas lol well I might not be able too spell it but their great. Not knowing Spanish it is helpful that the staff can speak English and are willing to help food is cheap and good I often will order them shop at the grocery while waiting since it's fresh food it takes a few min but is well worth the wait. Be careful though some of the food is hot

If you are a tamale fan be sure to get the "Mexican" tamales. The banana leaves make them delicious. They are not spicy, so for me I just shook some of their "pick one from about 20" hot sauces. Could become a habit.

This restaurant is nothing short of a gem! The area is rough around the edges, but the folks are great. The food, well the food, my my. Authentic, fresh and full of flavor. The steak burrito is my go to. The sauces are excellent! You will most likely be the only English-speaking person in the dining room, pay that no mind. Great staff, excellent cuisine. You will not be disappointed.
