Today I attended the UofL Trager Institute Gold Standard Award Ceremony which was catered by Mastersons. I was pleasantly surprised that they served the most delicious vegan lunch consisting of two portobello mushrooms on a bed of quinoa with black beans and sweet potatoes. All I can say it was amazing. Masterson's was able to make the dish so tasty while also including the appropriate nutrients. So many caterers, as well as fancy restaurants, serve awful vegan meals. The meat eaters said their chicken dinner was also very tasty! Kudos to the chefs!

Masterson's catered linens and table service for our reception. They coordinated well on site with the food vendors. Anna the service captain was excellent as were all of the staff, from beautiful table setting to great service refilling water and keeping plates cleared. Would give 5 stars if not for a few communication glitches with head management which Anna handled quickly while going over our needs for the event on site. Very happy with their service!

I called from out of town for a food delivery to friends who had a recent loss in the family. Emily with Masterson's was very prompt with her responses and pricing was very reasonable. The day of the delivery, the driver called me when he had problems getting access to the home. We were able to resolve this and Masterson's even gave me a follow up call to confirm. A few weeks later, I received a Thank You note from Emily to thank me for using Masterson's and to offer her condolences again. Excellent customer service and I would gladly do business with them again. Kudos!

We used Masterson's for my sisters wedding, and I wish we would have gone with anyone else. They told us they would serve cocktail stations all night as long as people were eating, but they completely ran out of food before everyone even got some. The kitchen staff seemed clueless and couldn't keep the food that they did serve hot. Besides all this, the food did taste good, which is why I'm giving a generous two stars. But overall, I would not recommend wasting your time or money.

I've used Masterson's for many corporate events & they always exceed expectations & stay in budget. I've taken them out with me on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail to do events at all of the distilleries. They perform in all kinds of settings & can work out of the back of their truck if necessary. Great staff, wonderful food, & can serve a few or hundreds.

My friend and I arrived at Captains Quarters (a Masterson's restaurant) 4:00 Wednesday April 11th 2018 to have dinner on the river. My first time there, my friend's favorite place to dine outside by the river. She has also planned many meetings there as well, some with 50 + seating as well. When we arrived the matre'd told us "outside seating was closed until tomorrow". We dined anyway. Halfway during our meal we noticed people being seated outside. My friend was so ashamed, and frustrated she left and went back to her car. I had to get the check and confront the manager with what I felt was either my friend or myself feeling discriminated against. He couldn't look me in the face while insincerely apologizing. I don't appreciate that at all. I'm sure he's obviously not a Masterson family member, and if he is the Masterson family should be ashamed.

Had my reception at The Olmsted and I cannot say enough good things about Masterson's. They were fabulous to work with. My guests had a plated dinner and got to choose their entree - every meal came out correct and was hot. My guests raved about how good the food was and how attentive the staff was. Nothing but compliments for them!

Overall, I think when things go well with Masterson's they are great. When they do not go well, they are awful at service recovery. Take your chances that things will go well. Pros: -they coordinated our food, cake, table settings and linens, and everything for the bar, which is why we chose them- we had an out-of-town wedding and wanted one-stop shopping -they were great about accommodating our request for a biscuit bar with custom signage -food (BBQ) was good- we got a lot of compliments Cons: (all customer service related) -though Sueanna told me they would be at our venue at 2:30 on the day of the wedding (and confirmed that in her final quote), they did not show up until 3:30. We called at 3 and were told it was our mistake- that they were never going to be there at 2:30. This left a photographer with nothing to photograph and a florist with no place to put flowers -our wedding was at Buffalo Trace Bourbon Distillery. We paid extra to serve bourbons that were made there. Our guests (not her staff) informed us we were "out of bourbon" an hour into our reception. My husband was berated by bar staff when he asked them about it. No attempt was made to get bourbon for the rest of the wedding. -Sueanna did not call us to apologize for not having bourbon at our wedding AT A BOURBON DISTILLERY, because "you're being unfair, I would never call you on your honeymoon". She claims instead she asked her on-site lead to tell my husband to call her. We didn't get the message. -Sueanna only had excuses on the phone when we finally got in touch- the bourbon had apparently been left on the loading dock at the warehouse. "My staff didn't tell me in time," "it was a stupid mistake," "there was traffic between here and there," and my favorite, "we couldn't air-lift bourbon to your wedding" - my husband was the initial one to call Sueanna, she decided that a $500 reimbursement was fair, since she estimated that that's how much our guest drank in the time after the bourbon ran out. A few weeks later, we still had not gotten the refund. When I called, I was told "well, you really should have called us sooner." After my conversation with Sueanna, she ended up refunding us $700. Every wedding has things that go wrong. We had others that did, but this is the ONE that still upsets me now, 2 months later, all because of the way it was handled.

Masterson's catered our wedding and did an amazing job. Sueanna made great menu suggestions since I am gluten free, as well as suggestions about linens that fit in with our theme. On the day of the wedding, they came in, got set up and let us worry about getting ready. Anna, the captain of the team, was so helpful and helped guide us through all the customs of the occasion. She really did a fantastic job of keeping things on track, making sure our reception was stress-free, and ensuring our drinks were never empty. The entire staff was incredible. Plus, the food was hot, fresh, and tasty. Masterson's will definitely be our caterer of choice in the future.
