Love this place. I was in town and decided to check it out. It is now my favorite bbq place - the food was beyond delicious. Like lick your fingers type of good. Try it - you won't be disappointed

I remember an experience I had once while in a deep woods. The memory is faint now, but the fear I experienced that night will never go away. I recall being on the edge of death. Bound to the trunk of a great elm, though I could see no rope or other physical restraints. Footsteps. Before me stood a creature too terrify to imagine. It stood on two legs. While its figure was human, it lacked a head. Rather its face was formed across its upper torso. It smile deviantly at me. It stood there for what seemed an eternity. It swung its arms front and back, offering a dull clap with each forward motion. Finally it approached. I winced. It took its hand, buried it into my jean pocket, and it took out a single, bare spare rib. It was from Marx Barbecue. I woke up the next morning at the Esquire Inn on Fares. My lady friend had something sizzling in the hot plate-- ham, from Marx Barbecue. I've never told anyone this story before. This is barbecue in the true Western Kentucky tradition. The original sauce is delicious. It's impacted by a lot of umami from the tomatoes . It's savory and bold. Not sweet. The pulled pork is great country barbecue. Prices are reasonable.

Evansville's hidden gem. Hard to find, but worth the quest. They are catering my Thanksgiving for the third year in a row. Always delicious! The best combination for lunch is a soak on rye (with extra pickles and onions), cold macaroni salad, baked beans, and a big bowl of burgoo!

They cater, so they have that going for them. Unfortunately I did not like the BBQ and neither did most of the guests at the party. We had a massive amount of leftovers, which our dogs really appreciated! So there is that. Take the drive to Owensboro and go to Moonlight BBQ it will work out better in the long run.

If you want smoke flavor this is not that BBQ. If you like tomato sauce over ribs it is. The ribs were tough and had more fat and gristle than meat. Sorry to say, I was not a fan.

Found out after arriving that you can no longer walk-in and get a plate lunch for dine in or to go. They are selling everything by the pound and pint/quarts of cold sides in a cooler. I was told they serve the food at the Hilltop. I'm sorry, but they are so slow at that restaurant that a working person doesn't have that much time.

The regular Barbeque sauce tasted like pute tomato sauce. The smoked turkey had no smoked flavor and was sliced paper thin. My husband stated the German potato salad was not good, and he is not a picky eater. We will not go back

My family and I went here for dinner a while back. My sister and I had the pulled pork and it had tons of bones in it?! We weren't sure if it was bones, but there were hard things in it. The sauce that it was in wasn't very good either, it tasted like tomato sauce. I don't remember what the rest of my family had, but they didn't have any complaints, which is why I'm not rating just one star.
