Mamma's & Pappa's

I love this place. They make you feel like family. And the food....pure comfort food. We sat on Pappa's side - that's the bar for 18 and older. The bar is dated, and filled with gregarious regulars eating fried catfish and sipping "fishbowls". Fishbowls are huge glasses of beer. A Sunking Weemac in a fishbowl is $6.50 and where else are you going to find one of those? They serve about 20 different beers that are listed on a board. On Friday night, most tables are full, but we find a booth and order our fishbowl. "Pappa" walks through occasionally checking on the thermostat and greeting patrons. The room has a fun energy. The menu is a mix of burgers, po boys, fried fish, amazing looking salads and more. I never get off the appetizer page...they had me at Fried Oysters "make it a dinner" with choice of sides. A big bowl of hand battered oysters comes out with cocktail sauce. The oysters are bursting with flavor. I choose the marinated cucumbers and cole slaw as sides. Both sides are handmade, slightly sweet and delicious. My husband has the Oyster Po Boy with fries. The bread is like a flatbread, delicious and crusty. The fried oysters are topped with lettuce. It's a winner of a sandwich. The fries are fresh cut and very good. We didn't stop there. Homemade deserts were listed on a board. There it was "Homemade Persimmon Pudding." Wow! Whip cream? Yes! The portion was generous, sharable. The pudding reminded me of a fine pumpkin pie, but with persimmons. Michele, our server, was fantastic. She was friendly and made recommendations. Food came out quickly. She checked on us regularly. 5 star service. On the other side on the restaurant is family friendly.... Momma's side. There are booths filled with families. There is also a covered patio outside with a few folks sipping fishbowls with their trusty canines at their feet. Momma's and Pappa's is a fun place with great comfort food in the heart of Indiana.

The food was warm and the person pudding and the tossed cheeseburger and chips. My dad had thei potato soup and it was good. I give the service was really Kaleb G was good.

What a great family restaurant. The prices are good and they are well staffed and attentive. The food was really good all the way around. This is for sure a place Bedford can be proud of. Be sure to stop here when you are in town or passing through.

Excellent service by Kennedie. Delicious food too. You can even go by yourself. They have a salad and soup bar if you're into that and everything in the menu for all ages and dietary restrictions. I tell everyone to go before they leave town. I'll be back next time I'm around. Thanks for your hospitality.

So we are here twice in the week we were staying in the area. First time - everything was great! Ribeye cooked to perfection - medium rare, good steamed greens, fresh salad, cheese curds were fried in clean grease. And staff was friendly! Second time- we ordered the same stuff. But we received sirloins instead of ribeyes, green beans were very very salty. The steaks were swapped out and apologized over.Overall. You've got a 50/50 chance of getting the correct steak according to my experience.I take that as it's a hit n miss restaurant. Sometimes on point- other time ya wish you went somewhere else.

For a hole in the wall, off the beaten place kind of restaurant this place was fantastic. While working our way down to French Lick from Greenwood, we got hungry while in the Bedford area and settled on checking this place out. Learning they had a salad bar was the tipping point and it didn't disappoint. Not only was the salad bar bountiful and clean, they also have a soup of the day. The soup was some of the best tomato bisque I've ever had!!! In addition to the soup and salad bar, we ordered the chicken tenders. Hands down the best chicken tenders I've ever had. The chicken was tender and juicy with the breading light and crispy. Our server was friendly, but did seem a little more focused to a table next to ours with all men sitting at it. I bet she thought 3 older ladies would be cheap with our tipping compared to the men. We still tipped her very well - but she could've been a little more attentive. I wasn't good about getting any photos, but this place is worth checking out it in the Bedford area. Oh, one last note; they have a bar side (on the right) and a restaurant side (on the left). The restaurant side is brighter and a better ambiance. The bar side is darker and well, like a typical bar.

Read that they had prime rib on Fridays and Saturdays. We happened to be in town Saturday evening... However, no prime rib. We still enjoyed our dinner, the hamburger steak passed my husbands thumbs up test! Nice family, dining area, lounge separate & shaded outdoor seating. We'll return

Poor quality in food which is a consistent theme in Bedford. Good salad bar which is only soup and salad.

This is the kind of local restaurant that no longer exists in many towns, with an expansive menu and reasonable prices. While they had the typical fried delights, such as tenderloins (which was delicious), they also have solid options for those who are gluten free. And did I mention their steaks? Especially noteworthy was the friendly service.

Very nice. Just not a five star restaurant, but good food, attentive staff, and somewhat reasonable prices considering the recent inflation increases. We had to wait a few minutes to get a seat, they were very busy, which is a good sign that many people like to eat there.
