The "Legacy of Black Horsemen" was shown at the Lyric Theatre. A wonderful documentary, sponsored by KET, it highlights the early days of racing when black horsemen were an integral part of the industry. Perhaps you can find the film online. If you are a racing fan you will especially enjoy the history put forth.28

Planned Valentines Day for a couple months. Candlelight concert. Had to park a mile away..... that was okay. Then had to wait in a long line, that was okay. Then at seven o'clock they came out and said musicians didn't show up! I mean do they not confirm? Will probably never return to any event here.

We have come to the Lyric Theatre many times to hear the Woodsongs Old Time Radio show. We enjoy our time here and have enjoyed every show. The theatre is comfortable and we always get a good seat for the show. One tip I have is come a bit early there is limited parking by the theater. Also go to the bathroom before the show since the ladies room is small and there could be a line after the show. This is a great treasure for the Lexington community.

We came down to the Lyric Theatre for Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour. It was my first visit here. I got tickets at the door about an hour before the show, open seating. We heard two great guitarist Leroy Perkins and Samantha Fish. Highly recommend to attend this fun and well done show.

Once upon a time, the Lyric Theatre was solely for African Americans, it eventually closed and fell into disrepair. Smart, fabulous community members fought to keep it from being torn down and eventually private donations plus city planners were able to rehab it and get it going again. The Lyris hosts WoodSongs Old Tome Radio Hour on Monday nights. This is a live radio broadcast featuring all sorts of musicians. There's an impressive line up. You'll have to get through Michael Jonathan, the host, and his initial set, but bear down and it will be worth it. The Lyric also hosts many community events and has an art gallery as well as a reception hall. ITs a lovely venue, currently run by Whit Whitaker, known for his gorgeous voice. He's a Lexington music icon and will be a great asset to the venue.
