Lucy's Diner

Found this little hometown diner while out shopping in the area. Appears to be a local hangout. The ambiance could use an update but the service and food make up for it. We just had burgers and fries but they were juicy and delicious. Our waitress was efficient and helpful. She answered all our questions about the food and other things of interest.

Never coming back! Came here on a Sunday morning to have brunch with a bridal party of 5 before heading over to the bridal district to go wedding dress shopping with our bride. The food was great and our server was nice. The problem is the owner herself. She's supposed to be the face of her business and she was one of the rudest people we have ever met. She was checking our party out up at the front desk (which is where you have to pay) and we all had separate checks, which she immediately voiced that she was annoyed with, saying "why couldn't one of you just handle it". She then asked if any of us had cash and when we replied that we didn't, she kept repeating "cash? You don't have cash?!". We then asked if she'd accept card and she replied "yes, but cash is faster". To be clear, the place was not busy. When we got there, there was no wait. We sat at a table right by the door and anyone who walked in was told they could go ahead and sit wherever they want. So we were very confused why she was rushing us and giving us a rough time with the separate checks and not having cash. She then asked if we were a bridal party going over to the bridal district. We said yes and she responded with "of course you are" in a very condescending tone. I was one of the last of our party to check out. I always pull out my phone and use the calculator app to figure out 20% tip. When I did this, she immediately said while laughing, "oh honey, are you serious? Did you not go to school?!". We were all shocked and immediately called her out saying how rude she was being. We asked if she was the owner, which she replied she was. We then repeated how rude she was with us, and left. We received no apology. The family behind us checking out even came up to us outside and agreed how rude she was and that they won't be back either.

Looking for a local casual place to have lunch? Go to Lucy's! Food is delicious, very reasonably priced, and ample portions! Lunch for 4 for about $30! And Lucy is right there working in the kitchen and at the register! We had beautiful fluffy French toast, a fish sandwich, side of goetta, a burger, and a plentiful ham and beef double decker! Get the special waffle fries as a side! We will definitely be back!

Ate here with wife tonite. Their hours are not currently listed on Yelp, but they closed tonite at 7 (we got there at 6:50) The special was meat loaf (one of my favorites) but not listed on the menu, so that's what I got, It came with mashed potatoes and green beans. Also had a lettuce and tomato salad and a bowl of vegetable soup--the latter was similar to Frisch's, but homemade and good. We got several pieces of lemon meringue pie to take home.Wife had a burger and fries which she liked. Service was prompt and friendly. Prices are reasonable--a lot of bang for your buck. I hope to return for one of their double decker sandwiches.

The owner is very nice (unpopular opinion) she has always been nice to me and my mother however. This place is cheap diner food - nothing over the top but you get your money's worth. I personally love the open faced roast beef. This is a hidden gem that is low cost.

I called today to ask if they were hiring. The first time i called i said " Hi is this Lucy Diner." The lady over the phone was extremely rude and said, "sorry this is a restaurant you have the wrong number" I then said, "I'm sorry this isn't Lucys Diner?" The lady hung up on me before i could even complete my sentence. The second time i called I said "Hi i was calling to ask if you were hiring for waitress or dishwasher" The woman over the phone interrupted me "No! No! No! No!" Furious by her rudeness i hung up the phone saying "Yall Rude asf" and i felt bad honestly i called back the 3rd time saying, "you guys need to work on your customer services, you are beyond rude!" I hung up and came straight here. That lady handled herself wrong as worker, business owner, or who every she was. I would never eat anywhere where someone could be rude to people over the phone there's a way to talk to someone and she needs to be coached on that. that is all.

It doesn't matter how good your food is... It's also how you treat your guest. We had a horrible experience with the owner during check out. Food was great! Our server was so sweet! We were having a great time...but once it was time to check out things unfortunately went down hill very quickly. So we wanted to have Sunday brunch at Lucy's Diner, because I used to always come here as a kid with my parents and at noon I had an appointment for me to try on wedding dresses at blush bridal. We get ready to go up to the front counter to pay and we are in a great mood. The owner comes up to the register and was already frustrated with us that we were all paying separately and not together...there was 5 of us. Then she proceeded to be aggravated with us that we were using credit cards and not cash. And kept insisting that she wanted cash. Then asked if we were here for the bridal district shopping street, and when I said, yes, she said, "of course you are" with an attitude. Once my other friends paid after me, one of them pulled out their phone calculator to make sure they got the right tip for the server... she proceeded to say "oh wow honey... did you not go to school". Was aggressively grabbing our credit cards from the counter top and slamming down the pens for us to sign with. Felt very uncomfortable and embarrassed I brought my friends here. We are never coming back to Lucy's Diner!

I love the small business diner feel. She really puts her heart into her business. The food is great and great prices. The service is ran by family which is always appreciated.

The food came out fast and was delicious. We had the western omelette, the French toast and the sausage links. The sausage was wonderful and would definitely recommend it. The servers and owner were all friendly. The place was super cute too, exactly what we were hoping for.

Oh my goodness...we visit Lucy's every year as we meet family from IN and KY. I would say the service has always been "ok", but today was a horrible experience. The poor server (young lady) was overwhelmed with our party of 12 and the fact she was the only server, but she was kind and sweet. We were as patient as we possible considering that our food began to arrive before anyone had a drink. The food was "ok", not piping hot by any means, but edible. The owner was downright nasty and unkind...the kindest words thatI can use...she deserves much worse description. She was rude to our group on multiple occasions (when we inquired about missing items we had ordered etc...NEVER once apologizing, just basically grunting and making terrible facial expressions). THEN she snapped at the poor server for giving several of us styrofoam cups for our drinks snd told her "no more!!"!! We will not return next year, no way...I pray that sweet server finds a job in which she is treated as a human as no one deserves such aggression and disrespect!!
