We went here on a Sunday afternoon for my daughters dance recital. It is located right across street from memorial park on fourth Street. It definitely needs a little bit low because this place is definitely on the older side. It is showing it's age with the seats that are kind of worn down just kind of has an old fuel on the inside but it's overall still a pretty nice building but it is definitely on the older side

Stage One isn't currently able to perform their season at Kentucky Center due to rennovations caused by the fire damage. They are being supported by local venues, including Louisville Memorial. Seeing a couple of reviews that mentioned parking is only found on the street, we allowed extra time to find a spot. Thankfully that wasn't too hard and we weren't forced to pay a meter. The inside lobby has high ceilings and an open floor plan. A few tables were set up to pick up tickets at Will Call and sell items related to the play. People could also purchase tickets or upgrade to an annual membership. Seating is available upstairs and downstairs. There were several seats available and a large stage area in front. I was thankful the seats were a nice size - close but don't squeeze your thighs and room to cross your legs. The play was endearing and funny. Unfortunately it was difficult to hear some of the actors. We were seated close to the stage, slightly to the right so I wondered if other people were straining to hear the play. The lighting is also very basic and only curtains keep you from the sounds and lights in the lobby. It can be distracting when people go in and out, but don't fully shut the curtains. I now realize the difference in these details as compared to other theatres. I'm slightly bummed the next play will be hosted here as well but happy Stage One doesn't have to cancel their season.

Pretty Christmas decorations and nice historic building. Love the pillars out front. Large auditorium great for big arts events. I have seen this space used for concerts and dance recitals. Nice use of space while the Kentucky Center is repairing Stage One's normal performance-space.

The absolute worst experience i have ever had in a venue. They auditorium is really nice but the sound engineer messed up our production. The mics had too much feedback, the engineer forgot which mic belonged to the singer, and he lost information on scene transition which really turned a great play into a horrible experience.

Louisville Memorial Auditorium has always been a bit staple to my life, as it was where my high school held all of our choir performances as well as our graduation. Not only this, but the building is beautiful and so rich in history. They seem to put on different random events every once in a while, and it's a great place to see a show. There's not really a bad seat in the house, and they are comfortable seats that make it easy to sit down for an hour or two to watch a show. They also have a small balcony for additional seating. If you are attending a show at memorial auditorium, you won't be disappointed!

I love this auditorium. It has that old historical feel to it. I actually had my high school graduation here and now I get to return every spring and winter to see my niece perform in her dance recitals. It's a beautiful space and has so much character. The venue has been maintained extremely well. Be mindful of parking however. It's street parking only. Also small tip, there is no A/C. So in the summer it can get a little steamy. So dress accordingly.

Old war memorial auditorium. Has fallen into disrepair. Moldy mildewing smelling, and faded pealing paint. Sad

The War Memorial Auditorium. That is what this is called. It must have been so grand and so amazing when it opened! Don't you just wish you had a time machine sometimes?! It is a beautiful auditorium but you can see the wear and tear that it has taken over the years. Back when I was a teenager I went to an Arlo Guthrie concert here with some friends. (Haven't heard Alice's Restaurant? You need to. It is from a genre called "folk music" which his father Woody Guthrie was very famous for making popular around the time of the Great Depression. [And if you don't know what that was, you Definitely should look it up!]) Anyway, the seats are cushy and there is a wire thing on the underside of the seats which I am dying to know what it was used for. I think maybe for the men to slide their hats - brim up- into to store them until after the show. I am sure they had a coat check but I don't know about a hat check so that my theory. The inner forum or ring houses a glass display case that holds flags of several nations as well as the flag of many famous people, Roosevelt, Patton, etc. which I found fascinating. The lobby is spacious and it seems to me that it would be very fun to host a party there! I was there for a dance recital (which was interminable but had a relative in it so...) and was glad to see that people are still using the auditorium. It was very cool.
