Long River Chinese Restaurant

Very good food! Best Chinese around Franklin, Edinburgh, and Columbus!! Good prices, good food ,nice people!

We were on our way from Indy to Louisville and stopped in for a quick bite. Our first time. They have all the Chinese carry out standards. Prices were reasonable. Service was fast. We sat at one of the 3 tables. The food was good- pretty much what you get at any Chinese carry out but I would say the place was super clean and the mother and son team were personable.

I ordered my favorite Chinese dish from here, which is Kung Pao Chicken. It was perfect. There is a restaurant about 1 mile from me that uses breaded chicken in their Kung Pao, and it's chewy and horrible, but not at Long River. The fried rice, egg roll, and Crab Rangoon were amazing as well. Two thumbs up!

Long River is primarily a take out Chinese restaurant on the west side of Franklin. They have a few tables, but in the winter months, it gets kind of chilly sitting there whenever someone opens the door. There is no table service...just order at the counter and wait for it to be ready.They have most of the standard Chinese food items that you expect. My wife and I both got a pint of egg drop soup (served piping hot!) that was really tasty and had lots of egg white in the thick soup. She also went with the Chicken Fried Rice that comes with a lot more peas and carrots (and some onion) than she gets elsewhere. The flavor was okay, but not exceptional.I had the Beef and Broccoli with white rice. The broccoli is cut in large pieces, but was cooked properly. The beef had a nice flavor, though my wife thought it a bit overcooked when she sampled it.We also tried an order of fried dumplings that came with a zesty dipping sauce. The sausage center had a nice layer of spice on its own.They have canned soda and bottled water available. Although there isn't much atmosphere in the small dining room, don't let that stop you from placing an order for some take out!Review #2076

In Franklin you only have two choices for Chinese takeout. My husband and I have been going here for over 13 years and it's one of our favorite places. Yes it is your typical Hole in the Wall Chinese Restaurant, by no means Gourmet, but we love their General Tso's chicken with steamed rice, I adore their steamed dumplings and the sauce is amazing. We also get their plain lo mein which are girls love and their shrimp fried rice.

This is the best takeout Chinese in the Franklin area. I always get hot food and a correct order. The family is nice and prompt with orders. I have never been disappointed in the 4 years that I have been ordering from here. Great job

Our food was delicious and extra kudos to the staff! The electricity was out due to a severe but short lived storm that came through town. They cooked our food by flashlights and an open door! We were told when we ordered they were asking for cash only. That's dedication to your customers!!! Way to go Long River!!

This is one of the best Chinese take out places I know anywhere. The food is always good. The orders are always correct. Thee prices are fair. And the family that runs it are great. My mother was one of their first customers and, years later even though she is now in a nursing home, they regularly ask me how she is when I pick up my order. Yes, it's fairly Americanized and not especially authentic but it's still very good. Highly recommend!

I ordered shrimp toast tonight and it was inedible. Totally burnt and no taste of shrimp. Even the styrofoambox smelled charred. Why would they send it out like that?! What a waste of money.

Stop by because I had to go to the BMV near by. I ordered the shrimp lo mein. It was better than most I had. Its hard to screw up noodles, shrimp, and vegetables but their was better than most i had because they use medium size shrimp instead of the tiny shrimp. They give you enough shrimp to last the entire meal. The sauce they cook it in compliments everything. I will definitely check out how everything else is here.
