We rent a cabin in Brown County State Park every fall. Always, we eat at the Little Gem in the Abe Martin Lodge. It's always been a dependable spot for a decent breakfast. Nothing fancy for sure but one could always get good service and a simple meal. In the past, one could order either from the menu or get the buffet. We've never been buffet people and always chose from the menu. This year, only the buffet was available and it was at best mediocre. I was hoping for at least scrambled eggs. Instead, quiche was offered. Overcooked, overheated and bland, it had been sitting over the candle for too long. Ditto, the bacon and hash browns. Pancakes were hard. There was also chopped fresh fruit and cups of chobani yogurt. My wife settled for the fruit and I had yogurt. Neither was a bargain at $14.95 per plate. Our server told us that because of the busy season, they had gone away from the menu. I'm not opposed to breakfast buffets in restaurants in principle. After all, chain hotels serve them all the time. They are okay and replenished frequently. They are also included with the room. The meal we had at the Little Gem was neither good nor a bargain. The Abe Martin Lodge should find a professional chef and not cut corners on food. Our server was fine.

I love our state park inns. Even though the menus is not extensive it has your basic Indiana favorites at good prices. Alway had great service and meals at the inn and I'll be back
