Had dinner here tonight as I was solo while my wife was out of town. The restaurant was a little shop in a strip mall but the food was delicious and the servers were very kind. You knew you have found a gem when the TV has soccer playing all in Spanish and no English signage except the menus for the most part.

I live in Louisville. I've sorely missed tamales, pozole, breakfast tacos, etc. pretty much anything Mexican since I left Austin, TX. I asked woman I ASSumed who is Mexican if she knew where I can find some tamales and she recommended this place. I made a plan to visit this place this weekend. We walked into this magical Mexican grocer which has all the secrets to Mexican cooking and culture. What was more exciting I knew we wasn't supposed to be there cause we got the looks black folks give white folks when they invade our spaces. This is when I knew I hit the jackpot! We got a dozen tamales, 1/2 chicken and pork, and we went to the restaurant next door to eat pozole. It was yummy!

I feel like I have gone to Mexico when I dine in here. We used to live in Highview and would order takeout almost every week from here. We're crazy for a green sauce they have that comes along with salsa and chips. Also in love with the shredded chicken tacos that are served in a soft corn tortilla with onions, cilantro and sliced radishes. Their chips taste fresh made too, thin and crispy. I can't speak to any other menu items because I am so addicted to these I can't order anything else. Good cold beer, Pacifico is my choice. The music is peppy, service is friendly, atmosphere is cute. Being able to speak a little Spanish helps but not required. Worth the drive or door dash. The food is super cheap too. We've been coming here for years and stop by anytime we're even remotely close. Yum.

The tacos here are 10/10, some of the best basic authentic Mexican tacos out there. As for some of the other items they could use a bit more seasoning. My wife had the grilled chicken and to me it was bland but that could be because I had already tried the tacos, and my sons kids quesadilla was pretty big for a kids menu item, and that to tasted a bit bland to me. The tacos deserve 5 stars but the other items brought it down. I would note to anyone who hasn't been here they do not do fountain drinks, it's all bottles and they will give you a cup of ice if needed.

I have never eaten here. I only go for my plantains and tostones so that I can fix at home. I sometimes pass this place on my way home, so it's an easy get in and get out store for me. I gave them 3 stars just because they never greet nor speak when entering nor when paying as far as hello, thank you or what have you. At least not to me.They just ring you up, tell you how much it is, take your $, hand you the bag and you out.I've seen mostly good reviews on their food, but this is not a place of choice that I would choose to sit down and eat. I use it as a grocery store for certain items and that's it.

I returned here while on another volunteer day nearby at Dare to Care just around the corner. Based on my memory of my first visit, things have only gotten better! They appear to have expanded and are more dine-in friendly that before. It is clean and bright and the the staff are friendly.I opted on this visit to get my order to go: four small tacos. Chorizo, barbacoa, carnitas, and pollo. They are NOT skimpy on the protein filling! The tacos come in two sizes, small and large. Since I got the small ones, I went with four tacos but I should have just gotten three...they were insanely filling! They come topped with onions and cilantro and my order came with radish discs and lime wedges. They were really tasty, and I think the chorizo was my favorite. But all chorizo things are my favorite. Soda is bottled and not fountain, which made my to-go order easier. The main downside was that the to-go tacos were all wrapped up in one piece of foil all together in a bit of a messy way. But I wasn't terribly bothered by it. Also I should have said yes to some salsa to go with a couple of the tacos. The chicken was a little dry.But it was all pretty tasty, and in all cost me about $11. A lot of food for not a lot of money! If I lived more in this area, I am sure I would frequent La Sierra more often!

La Sierra Mexican Restaurant is a hidden gem. This place is totally unassuming. It doesn't look like much at all from the outside. It's located in a strip mall, and honestly I wouldn't have paid it much attention if B's office wasn't nearby and he hadn't found it and taken me there. But, I'm so glad we discovered this spot, because it's really good! We started going here several years ago, when it was much smaller. Now they have expanded, and it is much more like a typical Mexican restaurant (with a store attached). The service is always quick and friendly, so this is a great spot to grab a workday lunch. Everything I have tried from the menu has been awesome. I usually opt for a burrito, and B goes for tacos. Everything is always hot and freshly prepared, and it's always really flavorful. No matter what you decide to try from the menu, you have to try the green jalapeño sauce. It's amazing! They bring it out to your table the way they bring out salsa, and I put it on everything. It's so delicious! It's not really spicy, it's just really flavorful, so it's a great addition to anything. If you're looking for a great, authentic, Mexican restaurant, look no further than La Sierra!

We ordered tacos to go but would've felt comfortable dining in as they've done a good job spacing booths and tables during the Covid 19 pandemic. We ordered large asada, barbacoa, and carnitas tacos and sampled both their green and red sauces. The red sauce had some tremendously good heat. While I'm usually partial to a good jalapeño sauce, I think the red sauce is the stronger choice here. The tacos were as good as they are at any of the authentic Mexican restaurants in town. The ingredients were noticeably fresh, no doubt due to grocery, which is almost next door (a Subway separates them). The grocery is also worth your while; it's deceptively big and also has a small food bar.

Prices online are not accurate. Got there and was charged 4$ more than it should have been. They are aware of this and still will not update the prices. Would not do anything to rectify the situation. Will not be ordering food here again.

The meal was just okay. The staff was more interested in huddling around and talking instead of making sure the customers were happy with their meals. The soup my wife ordered had shrimp steel with head and unpeeled with the vain intact, and the Flys were terrible. We had to cover our food to keep the Flys off. Oh, the cups for sodas were terrible. You couldn't tell if they were clean or dirty. I have eaten here twice, and I will not do it again .
