We had a great time at Kyushu hibachi restaurant for my daughter's birthday celebration. The restaurant is located off Hurstbourne and there is ample parking. We arrived early around 5:30 and were seated immediately. If you're arriving during the normal dinner hour, be prepared to have a wait. They have 6 or more hibachi tables and some of the tables seat more than the typical 10. Service was excellent - prompt service and staff refilling drinks throughout service. We ordered sushi as an appetizer and it arrived so quickly and was a huge roll. Would definitely recommend for sushi. Our hibachi chef was excellent - we had a food allergy at the table and he was very mindful not to have any cross contamination. The food was very good, the chef took his time and was very well trained. We love hibachi and would recommend this restaurant.

Stopped in for a beer and some sushi. Couldn't enjoy my food since a staff member decided to both FaceTime on speaker mode and watch loud videos on his phone while leaning on the bar. In my camp there's no better way to tell your customers you couldn't care less about their experience. Sushi Nigiri I had was ok, hence 2 stars. I won't be back

The food and service were good. The ambiance was still the same old decor that was here when it was named Kansai. They still using the bar area for storage. The sushi has always been good and our hibachi was steamy hot and seasoned well. The strawberry mojito was delish the paradise drink tasted like cough syrup. The crab was watery inside the Rangoon. The egg rolls were just not good. The soup and salad were basic. Overall, I would dine here again.

We were in town for my graduation commencement, and came here for dinner with the kids. We originally wanted to do hybachi dinner but the wait was a little longer then we wanted to wait with 2 inpatient kids. So we opted for a table and our server was Jessie. She was AMAZING! Thank you for being thoughtful on my special day, and making sure we were taken care of! Food and service was amazing!

This review is 3.5 (I really wish we could give half stars). We had been here before when the restaurant was called "Kansai." The building looks the same inside as before. The menu is also the same or is very similar to Kansai's old menu. We had a table of eight and were seated promptly at 5:30. The service was quick and excellent, and they were so good with our toddler and our friends' kids by giving them chopsticks and interacting with them. I had the No Name Roll, and it was pretty good. The only complaint was that I had a side of hibachi vegetables, and they were a bit "mushy." It had large pieces of torched salmon and had a bunch of shrimp in it. My husband had teriyaki chicken. He liked his food, he just thought the hibachi was a bit overpriced for chicken. Our friends enjoyed their Crunch Munch Rolls. All of the kids loved their chicken nuggets.

OMG!!! This is a hidden gem in Louisville. We celebrated my daughter's bday here and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I am a picky eater and this restaurant was perfect. The wait staff was nice. We ordered a dynamite roll and it was delicious. The chef seasoned every portion of the meal from rice to streak to veggies. I highly recommend this restaurant.

My first experience with Kyushu and I'll be coming back for the hibachi grill experience. Reservations can be made for parties of six or more, and the table holds 10-12 ppl. We were seated with others and it didn't deter my party of five from enjoying time with each other.Warning! The grill creates a warm experience. I'd recommend dressing lighter, even in colder weather. I was thankful for my t-shirt and my cheeks still flushed.I enjoyed the teriyaki chicken which came with a plate of rice, veggies, soup and salad. Next time I'm skipping the soup and asking for double salad, a tip I learned from a friend. Lots of sauces are available as well. My friends chose salmon and steak, and everyone said their meal was great.Wine, beer, cocktails and other food items are available. If you aren't doing hibachi they have other seating for menu options.Service was friendly and the show of food being cooked was fun. Lots of standard jokes, bursts of fire and catching rice in your mouth. The decor is simple and humble. This experience is mainly around the food.

It's Kansai, same staff and owner. New name. Friendly faces we've known for years even after moving away and coming back- twice!Friendly fast service, delicious food. From appetizers to entrees. Had a new waiter we hadn't met before, he was excellent - he didn't give us his name but still was quick and friendly and made certain of my food allergies a few times and reiterated our orders at each step. Obviously I was impressed, not many take such extra precautions even after telling them I have food allergies. The place looks about the same, low lighting in areas and brighter in others- once you see it it's not bad just part of the ambiance.

Okay, listen. I *wish* that I could tell you more about this experience but they had this drink special called a "Mistletoe Margarita" and I had like four of them, maybe five...so...That all started because they made us wait until our entire party of ten people was in the building before they would seat us. So, because I had to sit in the very cold vestibule, I had to imbibe to warm myself. Tequila makes me wanna fight so the bartender and I agreed that substituting vodka was the smartest play for all concerned. A solid decision. The drink was delicious and nobody got hurt. The company was fantastic and the food was good. There was a lot of activity going on and it was difficult to keep up with the conversation in that seating format. I'm pretty sure that I was supposed to be paying attention to the chef, anyway. Either way, it was fun and I enjoyed the experience.

Well let me say that I was looking forward to a nice dinner. What we received was beyond expectations! I highly recommend the fried tofu as an appetizer. I ordered the bento box. OMG it's beautiful and the portions are GENEROUS! I had to put most of it in a to-go container. Adult beverages are not skimpy... Service is top notch... And there's a lively dinner crowd. I'm sure we'll be back!
