Mr JJ puts his special touch in everything he does. His latest creation, the green sauce is spicy, herby, and full of flavor. I tried two new to me things, the Falafel is like no other. It is made from scratch, fresh and delicious. It comes with six pieces and creamy dipping sauce. I also had the salad with Beef Shawarma. It was an explosion of colors, textures and flavors. Mr JJ added crunchy pita pieces, lettuce, white and purple cabbage, tomatoes, red onions, and even fresh crunchy cranberries. The dressing was light and delicious letting you enjoy every bite. I sprinkled some of the new green sauce on, and it brought it to another dimension. I accompanied it with a freshly made mango slushy! Yum! Next time, I'm trying the humus with meat. It looked amazing! We brought Mr JJ's crunchy and sweet Baklava for dessert tonight. Can't wait! Please run to try this business!

What a pleasant surprise. Customer service is elite & the food was great. Such flavorful fresh food. The inside is well thought out & comfortable. I honestly can't say enough good things. This is a new favorite go to spot. 10/10 recommend. I wanted to tip on card but they have a box that extra cash goes towards feeding the homeless. What a blessing this place is to our community. Go check it out! Thanks again for the awesome service & great conversation. I'll be back :)

People need to be talking about this place more, I had the absolute best experience here. I was getting gas planning on getting takeout after a long day of work. I saw this place out of the corner of my eye, wondering why I'd never seen it before. I decided to give it a try and it was the best thing I did all day.The inside is very simple, nothing flashy, with a couple of decorations. These are the best places. I needed a minute to get a feel for the menu, and the gentleman running the place was very kind, friendly, and helpful once I made up my mind. I ordered the family meal, figuring my husband and I could eat on it for a couple of days, and it would enable us to try a nice variety of their offerings. Best decision ever. While waiting, the gentleman pointed me to some free Arab-style chicken noodle soup for dine-in patrons. The soup was soul-warming. As for the family meal, we were very impressed. Everything was absolutely delicious and very obviously made with so much love and care. Keep this place on your radar! I can't wait to come back and try as much of the menu as I can. Come check this place out!!

I just went to get two pieces of baklava for mother's Day and a little hummus while I was waiting I'm going to get some soup and burnt my hand on the soup... Didn't realize it was on scalding... Asked for a small pat of butter to hold me over for the burn until I got home. Response: "we don't have butter"This must be a new baklava recipe. Not sure down

I can not emphasise how flavourful and delightful the food and the atmosphere were. I really enjoyed every bite of my food. You could tell the food was cooked with so much passion and care. This is was my second visit and the owner remembered me which made me feel like an old acquaintance. He goes above and beyond to check on his customers and make sure they are happy and like their food. I took my mother in law for her birthday, she was trying to find the secret recipe of his rice and he wouldn't reveal that lol. We had a great time and he joked with us.Thank you JJ for complimentary soup, delicious food, and great atmosphere. We definitely will come back.

This place is a gem! Due to of the mixed reviews I've decided to order takeout and give it a try (all of the photos look too good not to). They don't take orders over the phone but you can pre-pay on the website or go into order. When we walked in to pick up, the owner was on his own running a one-man show. Still, he was extremely friendly and seemed happy to be there. He was very welcoming and even joked with us as if we were regulars. The two platters took about 30 minutes to prepare which I think is reasonable. Everything came out very fresh and hot. I had the mix three kebab platter to try everything. Came with one skewer meat kofta kabab (ground beef and lamb mix)one chicken kofta kabab (Very juicy. Definitely a favorite) & one shish Tawook. (I think this was also chicken but marinated & blended differently. The texture was a little more chewy than the chicken kofta) Both dishes came with a side salad, hummus and what the restaurant calls "one bread loaf marinated with JJ red sauce". It's a flat chewy "bread" that's smothered in a tomatoes smokey paste. I could eat a hundred pieces of this bread. It was so addicting. The red sauce added so much flavor you could just have it on its own. I am surprised the platter did not come with any side sauces like tzatziki or garlic paste. Maybe it did not pair well with the platter. I just happen to really like tzatziki sauce. Going forward, I'll definitely add it to my order.I regret not dining in to try the free soup on the counter. It was self-help along with the water. Upfront was a small refrigerator with multiple options for cake and sauces. (also regret not grabbing some to take home) Overall, I'm very happy with my experience. The food, the service, the owner, everything deserves 5 stars in my book. Will definetly be returning to try the rest of the menu.

The 'exorcist' (so professional - not) has deleted and updated his response to me about 5 times now, including several TOS (terms of service) issues where he called me a liar, said I worked at another restaurant, said I never went to his restaurant, etc. None of that true. See the attached bill statement - I was there. I spent over $20 for ONE meal. I left as nice a review as I could while being honest, I even wished him luck. I could have said a lot more, but the bottom line is if you leave a less than 5 star review, which is not deserved from my experience, he'll become absolutely obsessed with you and keep writing and rewriting his rebuttal to something that just cannot change - it was not good for me. Let it go, dude. You were not good with me and neither was your food, and now you're just making yourself look even more crazy. You're bullying people to prevent reviews you don't like, and that's not cool. So if you like massively over-peppered food with lots of bitter spices, to the point your palate burns and is numb for 2 days, and to be argued with when you wish to add tzatziki (which he did do) and which is just as flavorless as his 'garlic' sauce, by all means, go here. I'm glad for those who liked it, but I'm not in that camp. There are superb well-established Mediterranean restaurants in Lou, such as Safia and Shiraz. If you've not tried them, do a comparison. I also highly recommend Annie's Cafe in Beechmont - the BEST!, Taj Palace on Goosecreek - the BEST!, El Molcajete on 4th, La Pinata on 3rd, Thai Noodles on Preston, Yummy Pollo on Bishop lane (so good, so gracious!) Guanajuato (restaurant inside grocery) on Preston and on Bardstown - and more. And I don't work at ANY of them, like DUH. I just don't recommend THIS restaurant. If you saw all the crazy iterations of responses, coupled with his chosen 'professional' name on here, it should be enough to let you know everything you need to make safe and sane choices for yourself. There are lots of good restaurants in Lou, explore them. No one needs this kind of drama.

Excellent customer service! The food was good too! It was full of flavor! There is a lot to choose from on the menu but I had a craving for salmon so I picked #18 fried salmon. It came with rice, salad and hummus. You get plenty for the cost (about $18). It also comes with 2 sauces, tzatziki and a green sauce. I like the green sauce best. I ordered my food to go but noticed they had plenty of inside seating. They also had a wide variety of non alcoholic drink choices and desserts to choose from.

I have been to JJ Grill and eaten there. You find my recent review by searching. I need the Yelp community to know if you don't leave a perfect 5 star review the owner will harass you and your friends while posting your photo on his business page and local FB group. The food is fine. I made my initial post about not safe for Celiacs and others with allergies. Please make sure you leave 5 star review for Mr JJ or he will ruin your life. Beware.

I'm not even sure where to start here. First off, JJ the owner is an incredible human being with a passion for his food you likely won't see elsewhere in this city. He meticulously prepares and presents your food to you himself. The food? Holy moly y'all. Those pictures should speak for themselves. Unbelievable quality, preparation and presentation! Everything and I mean EVERYTHING was delightful! The chicken liver entree was other worldly. Please go pay JJ and his family a visit. The hype is real!!!
