We went here because it was on our fork in the road card. It was an adventure as it is nearly an hour drive but we enjoyed it. There was a lot of things on the menu I would be excited to try. We got there on the anniversary so there were 3 Christmas themed drinks that were $4 each which was a great deal. The moscato punch was great! As an appetizer we got the JB's béchamel Boats. These were basically a little fancier potatoe skins. They were very good. It came with 4 of them and the Bechamel sauce did make them special. I got the Norwegian Salmon which was honey glazed. It was good. I would recommend. I wish it was more charred on the edges. I got the mashed potatoes and the garlic Parmesan broccoli. If you like garlic, you will love the broccoli. It was really flavorful! You get a ton of mashed potatoes and they were good. My boyfriend got surf and turf. A filet mignon and scallops. He got two scallops and they were both wrapped in bacon. It thought they were smaller than what he was expecting. The steak he thought was good as well and the French onion soup he got as a side. As dessert we got the chocolate lava cake and the bread pudding. Both were really good! The atmosphere is decently fancy with waiters dressed in nice clothing and nice table clothes on all the tables. Definitely a good vibe. I would go again but would try other entrees.

JB's SteakhouseFor Robinson, JB's Steakhouse is the only "upscale" dining establishment. It is conveniently located on the square, right across from the courthouse. We ate here two times while staying in town on an extended business trip. On the first visit, I chose the steak from the "Two for" menu. While cooked to the correct temperature, the steak was a bit tough and lacked flavor. The baked potato was OK, and the bread pudding was delicious for dessert! I chose the pork chop on the second visit. It was excellent. The lettuce wedge salad was very tasty, too! On both occasions, the staff was friendly and provided excellent service.

Finding an elegant and delicious place to dine in rural areas of Illinois can be tricky, but this place would exceed your expectations even in a larger city! We have eaten there several times enjoying their balsamic steak salad, caprese chicken, and other entrees -- all were very good. The service was exceptional and warm. They make a great ole fashion as well. Don't miss an opportunity for a nice meal at a fair price

The interior of the building and atmosphere is very nice. Our server was very polite and attentive. The salmon was very good. Then came my steak. I ordered medium and it came out well done. Chewy and dry. They were very nice and fixed me another steak. I said let's go medium rare. The same steak came out. Chewy, dry and just not a good taste. We drove 40 minutes to try it out so probably will not return.

Robinson, which 25 years ago the Chicago Tribune described as a "Cornbelt Babylon" with "a high level of local degeneracy" has a new eatery. And what a treat it is.Disclaimers before we get started. First, I'm acquainted with the owners. This is rural America. Nearly everyone in the county knows me. Most of them are cousins. My wife is from out of state. I made the safe play. Also, JB's is 21 days into a soft opening, so I'm modifying my grade and review to focus on the characteristics that will persist and ignore the features that are likely to be changed before an official opening. Best to review what diners in the future are likely to experience.JB's is located in a century old, newly renovated, storefront retail building on the south side of the square in Robinson. In addition to the restaurant, there is a bar, large group room, and a small banquet room. JB's is a short menu steakhouse that offers a great selection of classics with a twist. The focus is on premium steaks and associated entrees including some seafood offerings. Weekends feature nightly specials. The highlight of JB's is the steak. I'm not a steak expert. We raise beef cattle on our farm. So, I always have good beef at hand. I'll spring for something other than steak when I'm dining out. I wanted to know what a local place could offer. And it's impressive. My steak was born, raised, and grazed 8 miles south of JB's at Black Gold. If you're not familiar with Black Gold Genetics, it is an award winning breeder of angus cattle. Local, exclusively pasture fed, organic, never frozen, USDA Prime certified, dry aged steak. It's world class stuff, straight from Cornbelt Babylon. Honestly, I don't go for all the hype. I've eaten some overpriced, tough steak in my time. But, this is the real deal. We had the 10oz. NY strip ($26), medium well with scallops. Best steak I've ever eaten. This should bring steak lovers from afar to try. Steak accompanied by a rice & quinoa pilaf that was outstanding. I typically avoid the big steakhouses because of the salty, butter-slathered sides. The pilaf was light with a pop of tomato flavor. Just a great complement. The steak was well trimmed and accurately prepared. Scallops were a great add on.We also had the seafood pasta. Again, a rich dish that didn't taste heavy. Linguini had a nice snap with no stickiness. Clams and calamari were fresh and generous. We also had the grilled chIcken caprese salad. Well balanced salad with sweet cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, and a house made cream dressing that really made the plate. Some final points to make: fresh baked bread served to each table. Solid service. They offer a vegan lasagna, forward thinking for this area. JB's has the makings of a serious destination for diners who appreciate a great steak. It offers a unique dining experience and tremendous value for the dining dollar.

We were blown away by JB's Steak House. We are visiting from Houston, Texas for a wedding and wanted to enjoy a nice meal on the Friday evening before. Every single worker we encountered were warm and welcoming, and taught us a lot about the restaurant and Robinson. JB himself came over and introduced himself and was very personable, we met the chef too! The drinks were tasty and the food was fantastic! Before we realized it, we were there for 3 hours, and enjoyed every minute of it. If you ever find yourself in the area, I highly recommend stopping by.

The sea bass was WAY overcooked to the point I needed the steak knife to cut it. Very disappointing.

We celebrated my parent's 50th wedding anniversary at JB's Steakhouse, and our experience was outstanding! The food and service were excellent! We had a party of 16 people in the Banquet Room, with plenty of room for more. The room had round tables seating 6 with candlelight centerpieces, and light music played overhead. The room was equipped with a TV which allowed us to airplay a slide show of pictures throughout dinner which resulted in many great stories and good laughs. We had our own waitress and private restrooms. My parents loved it! If you are looking for a place to celebrate an event, I would highly recommend JB's Steakhouse!
