Hot Buns Food Truck

I went to the Annual International Food Truck Festival and I was really excited to try this place!! I was a little disappointed because they were sold out of almost everything on their menu by the time we got there, but that's always a good sign. I ordered the beef curry bao and vegetable dumplings. The vegetable dumplings were really good! I could eat 1000 of them!! 10/10! However, I took one bite of the beef curry bao and it was ice cold. I'm not sure if that's how it was supposed to be served, but It personally was not my favorite. I've tried Bao buns from one other place and they were hot, so I think I was just expecting something a little different. The flavor was definitely there, it was just not for me. Service was quick and the employees were very nice! I would definitely recommend this food truck if you are looking for Bao or dumplings!!

I had Hot Buns for the first time at the International Food Truck Festival at the Waterfront today and I think I found my kryptonite! It was absolutely delicious and I made sure to follow them on social media to not miss the next event they will pop up at. I already want more! So so good!!

We had the buffet option of Great Buns at our wedding. Liz was super responsive and patient with my many questions. Super easy to talk to and plan with. They allowed us to go the sustainable route and provide our own silverware, napkins, and plates. The food was set up with great presentation. I loved the big steamer. They brought the food out quickly and all 70 of our guests were fed in around 20/30 mins. Lots of our guests were new to bao buns, but we have received nothing but praise for the food!. I highly recommend hiring this food truck for your next event!! My only feedback is to have labels on what bun/dumpling was which and to have a sign with allergens on it, i.e. nut allergen.

I had wanted to try this food truck for awhile, and I finally did at Flea Off Market.The food was ready quite quickly, and the people I ordered from were very friendly.I ordered the Korean Pork Bun, the Thai Curry Beef Bun, and the Peking Rice Bowl for my son. Overall, we liked the Thai Curry Beef Bun best. It had a nice combination of flavors that complimented the pillowy-soft bun.The Korean pork bun had some great toppings (pickled daikon being my favorite), and the meat was tender, but I thought it could have had a little more flavor.We loved the rice in the rice bowl; it was almost like sushi rice. But overall, we were not a fan. Maybe there was too much picked onion, or too much sauce on the chicken. Not sure. Also, we found a bone fragment. It can happen to anyone, but it's not a fun surprise.I wish I had retired the dumplings. They looked delicious!

Why did we wait so long to try Hot Buns? They parked at the fall festival for Fleur de Flea, and between the food, weather and grabbing a patio table I was the happiest gal. The Hot Buns team chalked social distancing slots for customers in line. Service was quick and friendly, payment by cards available.I got the combo with 2 bao buns, Peking Chicken, and 5 pork dumplings. The dumplings are good but would've lacked in flavor without the sauce drizzled on top. The Peking chicken came with cucumber, pickled onions and cilantro. They describe the buns as pillowy and they aren't lying. Looooved the bao buns, very flavorful. The rice bowl is a good option too. Large portion and you can pick one of their proteins to add to it. As I'm typing this I wish I'd bought one to bring home and heat up for dinner. Another time! This food truck is a treat and I am looking forward to bumping into them again.

This is good!! I ordered their Thai brisket curry rice bowl. It came in a "Chinese carryout" style cardboard box. This made it much more portable and easier to eat for the diner compared to the usual paper boat. The brisket was tender as can be with just a hint of curry flavor. I really enjoyed the addition of cashews and fresh Thai basil leaves. The portion was very substantial. I didn't need to order any dumplings to get full. They also use the *good* rice. This Asian is happy about that. My friend ordered brisket bun and chicken bun. She raved about both. I will definitely follow them to other locations. I need to try the rest of the menu!!

Hot Buns has been on my list to try for a bit now -- and not *just* because of its awesome name! So I was very happy to find them at NuLu Fest this weekend. I ordered Combo 3, which is three buns plus five dumplings. I opted for the Peking Style Chicken, Thai Curry Brisket and Teriyaki Mushroom buns. Somewhat surprisingly to me, the mushroom was my favorite. It was so full of flavor -- I might get this over the other bun options in the future.And the dumplings had a kick to them, so I would have a drink handy if you're a bit of a wimp (like me).I was able to order fast and had my order within a couple of minutes. This is definitely a truck to keep in mind when you see it out and about!

Yum! Hot Buns was at Waterfront Park toddy and I'm so glad we decided on them over some other great options. We split mushroom buns and vegetable dumplings. Both were absolutely delicious! I can't wait to find that truck again!

Great food truck serving Asian steam buns! A friend and I stopped at this truck for lunch on a Tuesday. We each had two bao and shared an order of veggie dumplings. Both buns I had were very good but the mushroom was my favorite! Super flavorful and satisfying. The vegetable dumplings were also very nice with a sweet and spicy sauce. I will definitely be back to this food truck!

One of my favorite places to eat. Wish they came to Lexington more often! Excellent food, great friendly service
