Happy Belly Waterside

First off let me say this place is in a great location, there's so much to do and the views of the water and downtown Louisville are emaculate! The service was a bit slow it seemed like he was trying to help the lady cooking and man the front order window and fix her mistakes all at the same time. Poor guy was doing everything and if I were to give this place 5 stars it would be because of him and his hard work. The food... Ahhh I really wanted to love the food. Prior to ordering I asked about the meats the chicken and the steak as I. A very picky eater. He informed me the steak is skirt steak and the chicken is thigh meat. So I ordered the bowl with half chicken and half steak... The steak meat quality was more like the hamburger steak meat stuff and kinda like beef fat. Although the chicken was thigh meat it was juicy and flavorful. I ordered half yellow rice and half cilantro lime rice. There was no yellow rice to be seen lol I believe I got half plain and half cilantro. Either way the rice lacked flavor and was very watery, unfortunately. I also got the vegan egg rolls, as you see on the menu it says 4 in an order, as you see in my pictures there were only 3. Apparently they ran out of wraps. The egg rolls were swimming in oil from end to end literally dripping but they were very crispy and hot which I loved but they were so oily and lacked flavor so. I would suggest letting the oil run off the rolls prior to serving them and adding seasoning to the contents inside for a better experience. With the rice if cooked properly it shouldn't be watery as it was, also adding saffron for yellow rice would make sense. This place has great potential and I will be back! The lady doing all the cooking and messing up orders needs way more training. Kudos to the guy holding it all together, you're doing great bro!

I am looking forward to spending many of my Summer days here at this location. The ambiance and delicious food was like no other. I ordered the Octopus Tostadas and never thought something so flavorful and fresh would come off a food truck. Happy Belly Bistro is a gem you should try for sure. There is Cornhole and breathtaking views to enjoy while you wait or you can even grab a cocktail so Bring some friends and see you there
