I've been a long time fan of Green District Salads and the salad shops that came before them. We're fortunate to have a quick service fresh salad option in downtown Louisville. The shop is located in a small storefront near a little alley and across from the MetroHall driveway. The line is usually long, but they offer online ordering for pickup which is great option if you're in a hurry. The menu has changed over the years, and the process to prepare salads has morphed but the flavors are still there. My favorite salad is the Thai One On that is now made with old bay shrimp, a mix of iceberg and romaine, cabbage, edamame, carrot, cucumber, green onion (I usually sub red peppers when working), wonton strips, and Thai peanut dressing. It's a fresh and lite salad that helps fill my belly without weighing me down for the rest of the workday. Unfortunately the salad is $12.95, so not incredibly budget friendly but it's a filling and yummy salad. Once you order your item, staff asks if you have any changes to the item. They also now ask if you'd like the salad dressing mixed in or on the side. I usually like dressing on the side, but highly recommend getting it mixed in here. They don't have a heavy hand and mix it beautifully for the perfect flavor. You can also create your own salad, for more reasonable pricing. They also offer wraps, grain bowls and toastys. I haven't tried wraps, toasty or grain bowls since I'm OG and prefer an old fashioned salad .

I had a Ricky Bobby-Q salad and I'm not kidding when I say this was by far the BEST salad I've ever had! Going to try to recreate it at home in Columbus, but I know it won't be the same. If I'm ever back in Louisville, this place is a must stop.

I love GD salads but lately the ratio of dressing has been super poor. I don't love a ton of dressing, but half the cup isn't enough to dress their large salads, and it has been ending with a dry salad.

"Do you want to try the salad place for lunch?" my coworker asked.Not really, that sounds... kinda silly.Boy I was wrong. This place isn't silly at all. Lots of options from some pre-defined ingredients to a build-your-own option, it's way more exciting than just "the salad place."Not a big space and the line takes up most of the part of the restaurant you can walk in, so plan on taking your salad to go. Only downside to this is that you can't really see the whole menu before you have to order, so you may want to plan ahead and look at your options online before trying to make a snap decision inside.I had the Ricky Bobby-Q salad (without ranch) and can highly recommend that, but everyone in our party was very, very happy with their choices so it doesn't seem like you can go wrong.

I love this place. I love the legendary salads and they literally have any protein that you can think of to create your own salad. The kickin chile chicken salad is my go-to whenever I visit this location. The staff is always nice, and the line moves fast during lunch time, so you don't have to wait long.
