This little Amish buffet is in the middle of nowhere and fills the need for an empty belly and the need to get away for the afternoon. This little gem is a hotel, restaurant and shopping experience all in one. The fresh Amish goods you love are served on the buffet and they have a nice bakery where you can purchase all kinds of desserts. From the home made noodles to the home made bread, butter, apple butter and just about anything else you can think of this is your spot! Come check them out and enjoy a nice drive to central southern Indiana.

(This is for the restaurant) My husband and I had been here several years ago and enjoyed it very much. We wanted to take my mother and father there for their birthdays, this year. I have dietary issues, so I called 3 times to ask if there was anything on their buffet that I could eat. I never got any phone call back despite my leaving messages. I finally got hold of the cashier who was not very pleasant, she was more bothered that I called to ask questions and she even doubted my food restrictions. She said the manager was there, but they were getting ready to leave, but she asked the question and the manager said they would call me back the next day, but.....I'm still waiting 2 days later. But, after asking the cashier if there was any meat not breaded or in gravies, she told me no. I asked if I could bring a burger with no bun with me, so I could eat with my husband and parents. (This is question the manager was supposed to call me back, to answer.)So, we never got an answer. They are not very helpful or customer service oriented. We will still take my parents because I think they will enjoy the village, and they are more important, but I will eat before I go and not with them.

Updating my review after 12 (seriously??) years. I had lunch here today and it is just as good as the first time I came here back in 2012. Wonderful Amish cooking. Hand peeled mashed potatoes, noodles, gravy, dressing, stewed tomatoes, corn, green beans, bean soup, chili, fresh Amish butter. Everything on the salad bar was fresh. Many options to build the perfect salad.Desserts included baked fruit cobblers, amazing fresh baked cookies and more.Service is friendly and everything is kept very clean.Gasthof is only a few miles off 1-69 and well worth the detour.

Home cooking and authentic midwestern recipes and service. Take home pie and you feel like you picked it up at the state fair 100 years ago.Everything has a down home quality, recipes refined but not overly fancy. Everything is simply really good food you might have gotten on a Sunday dinner from you grandmas if she was a great country cook with some ribbons for her cakes and pies from the county fair.Prices are fair, and I suggest asking for small portions so you can try a few things before you're too full to walk! There is a small shop with gifts, handmade items, and deserts to take home. Restrooms are clean and the staff is friendly but professional.Everything reminded me of the way my mom and grandmothers used to cook when they took their time and made things from scratch or if the food was being made to take to a sick neighbor or the church picnic. If you're on a long road trip or live nearby it's worth a stop or add it to your driving plan but give yourself time to slow down and enjoy it. And if you over do it you might need a nap before hitting the road again lol!If you're in a rush and want McDonalds speeds this is not the place. If you want to sit down, catch your breath and slow down in a friendly unrushed environment this is the place.

We were looking for restaurants on our route to Vincinnes and a Google search brought us here. It's an interesting place with shops and a restaurant. My main focus was the restaurant - we had been to northern Indiana Amish country and I missed the comfort food. The restaurant is a buffet, with a number of selections. The salad bar had the typical assortment of iceberg lettuce, toppings, and mayo based salads. The potato salad is shredded hashbrowns. In the hot foods, they had fried chicken, dumplings, mashed potatoes, egg noodles, stuffing, pot roast, and a few other selections. Nothing really memorable and much of it tasted like prepared food, like canned veggies, gravy mix, and the Jenni-o turkey roast. The stuffing was really dry. They did have sliced bread with butter, apple butter, and corn syrup/marshmallow peanut butter spread. Desserts were fine. Cookies had been frozen and were thawing on the display, so some were moist from condensation under the plastic.Overall, it filled our stomachs, but nothing to bring us back again.

Would definitely recommend if you're in the area! Came on a Wednesday for lunch, and was greeted by a delicious buffet full of homemade Amish cooking. The mashed potatoes were so creamy, and the chicken gravy on top was absolutely superb. The Dutch noodles were delicious and cooked in a nice (chicken, I think?) broth. There were also delicious pork cutlets, and homemade bread with perfect apple butter. The fried chicken was fried quite nicely, but could've used some more seasoning. The corn was quite bland, considering it is June, but they had delicious green beans! I also loved the dessert bar, with a nice hot fresh cherry cobbler and a chewy homemade chocolate chip cookie. All the servers were also super friendly and helpful. Looking forward to coming back!

The salad was extremely fresh & delicious. All the cold salads were very flavorful. Service was always on top of any of our needs & drinks stayed full. The restaurant is very large & spread out enough to relax & enjoy the company of those you're traveling with. Really liked the flea market on site as well.

Wanted something different for lunch and decided to make the trip. From my house, it was a 2 hour drive down 69. I haven't driven back roads in a while and was delighted to see all the farm animals and the Amish carriages. The restaurant seating is pretty large. Before you get seated, there's a general store. Reminds me of Cracker Barrel kind of but this one seems more authentic. I wished we stayed to shop. The buffet has a large variety: large salad bar, vegetables, meatloaf, fried fish, chicken and a large, large variety of desserts. I love that all is homemade. And it was delicious! Out of respect, I personally didn't snap pics. The bakery is connected as well and we left with a German chocolate cake and a cherry pie.

The food is out of this world! Roast beef and gravy that has such flavor that I had to go back for more. Fried Chicken to DIE FOR! Soups, salads, sides, additional entrees are all amazing!!! The waitress Natalie was STELLAR! , She made sure we had all the drinks we needed, BEFORE we needed them! The quaint all wood barn and decor is charming and very homey feeling! Can't wait to come back!
