We recently moved to the area and have been wanting to try this place since before our move. Our first visit happened to be on Breakfast for Dinner night and it was delicious! I ordered the Banana Pudding Pancakes which were perfectly prepared and not too sweet. My husband had the Ham with Tomato Pie and Biscuits with Gravy. This was our first taste of Tomato Pie and we are both fans now. Delicious! The owners were very friendly and welcoming. We really enjoyed visiting with them. The cafe is cute and homey. You order and pay at a counter and they bring out your food. Very simple setup which we liked. Can't wait to come back for future meals!

The restaurant is a little out of the way. We stopped by after spending the afternoon at Kentucky Down Under (under the great place, by the way). Everyone was really friendly, as someone else mentioned, coming here is like visiting with family. There are sandwiches available all of the time and three (3) specials, as well as several vegetable and dessert options.I had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and creamy summer pasta salad. The food was great. I wished we lived closer, because I would love to come try some of the other specials that are offered. I also had the lemonade, which was refreshing on a hot summer day. If you are in the area visiting the caves or other attractions, try and find some time to stop by. You will not be disappointed.

After our family went through Mammoth Cave, we were tired and hungry and used yelp to find some food nearby. We found Esters Cafe and Catering was only a short drive away and had a menu we all thought sounded good. We had our dog Rosy with us, so we sat outside in the backyard. Gabe came out back to say hello and tell us about the specials. The food came out quickly, and it was all delicious. You can taste that it's homemade and we loved it. I had the glazed ham and mashed potatoes, husband had meatloaf, and kiddos had the burger and fries and the pb&j and tomato pie. We loved the food, but we loved the service even more. Gabe and Susan were so friendly, and they really made us feel welcome. They even gave our Rosy a snack. Next time we are in the area, we will eat here.

One of the best little out of the way restaurant. Nothing fancy just plain country cooking. Really love there food. Owners are awesome and friendly.

We were driving cross country for vacation in July and stopped to see Mammoth Cave. This place was the highest rated restaurant nearby, and the reviews were ALL TRUE!! Ester's was the best restaurant we visited on our long trip, and we certainly wish it were much closer to our home in Texas! Everything we ate was homemade, and we could tell it was all cooked with love. I got the veggie plate and tried the tomato pie even though I have never liked pimento cheese. But the chef, Gabe, makes it his own special way, and I loved it! There is indoor and outdoor seating here, and children are very welcome. We also visited with the talented Gabe and his delightful wife Susan and couldn't have been more charmed by them both. Thank you both again for such a special, memorable meal!

First time visiting Esters. Service was definitely a plus. Staff was very friendly and helpful with our choices. We both had Roast beef. I added tomato pie (give it a try...it's amazing!) and pinto beans with cornbread. My husband added tomato pie and broccoli salad. Both of us were definitely full when we left. We topped our meal off with strawberry rhubarb cobbler. This was another thing we had never tried. It was perfect! Would definitely go here again.

Stopped in on fried chicken Tuesday and all they were serving was a boneless chicken breast that did not look to appetizing nor did the sides. Was expecting boned-in dark and white meat. The older man behind the counter was very rude to his young cashier and staff. Waited 10 minutes before I was to place my order and there was two ahead of me in line. Walked out and did not eat there after I found out what they were serving.
