El Mundo on Bardstown Road is a standout spot for great food, excellent service, and an unbeatable happy hour. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, with just the right amount of energy to make it a fun yet relaxed dining experience. The menu focuses on fresh, flavorful Mexican-inspired dishes, and the tacos are always a favorite. Whether you're in the mood for tender carnitas or their flavorful veggie options, there's something for everyone. The house-made salsas and guacamole are also must-haves.Happy hour is where El Mundo really shines. Their drink specials, especially the margaritas, are top-notch, and the prices make it easy to try more than one. It's a great time to stop in with friends or unwind after work. What really sets this location apart, though, is the service. The servers are friendly, attentive, and know the menu inside and out. They're quick with recommendations and make sure your experience is always enjoyable.El Mundo on Bardstown Road is the perfect spot for great food, drinks, and warm hospitality. Definitely worth a visit!

Met up at El Mundo for a Galentine's Day dinner with some friends. I love the neighborhood this restaurant is in and the colorful decor inside. They have an extensive drink menu - I didn't order anything this time since I was driving right after but many of the margaritas lookes good! Our server was very good and made sure to note food allergies for those in our party who needed accommodations for that. I ordered the carnitas platter and it was a huge portion size! I actually got three meals out of it. I wasn't expecting to assemble everything myself, and also thought it needed to come with more than two tortillas since the portion sizes were so big. As far as taste goes - it was good. I don't know that it stood out as being better than other similar Mexican restaurants but I liked my food ok. The basil verse was delicious! I didn't care for their salsas but the queso was pretty good. Will I go back? Probably not, but it was an ok meal without any complaints so I would say try it and see what you think if you're in the area.

One of the best Mexican spots in Louisville- always good service, consistent food - great options to choose from and fantastic Margherita's. Buffalo Grande is a great burrito and their guacamole. Highly recommend

We came here during happy hour with a toddler. We were seated very quickly and were very pleased with how friendly staff were. We got the house margaritas and an order of chips and queso, I would try another dip next time but it was good! I ordered the chile relleno and my husband order the enchilada special they had going on. Both were fantastic! My toddler had the rice and beans and we was thrilled with it. We will definitely be back!

A go-to spot on bardstown road. Varied food offerings and some of the best tequila and mezcal drinks in town. Good daily specials and excellent happy hour. Nice patio seating in warm weather. Only downside is some of the inside seating areas lack ambiance. Make a reservation.

First time here while in Louisville visiting my daughter. Cute restaurant but get ready to walk some stairs. We went up a couple of floors and there was at least one more. If you are someone that has mobility issues and do not handle stairs well, you might want to call ahead and see if they have a table that can accommodate you.Great meal! Wish I would have remembered to snap a picture. My daughter and I split chicken fajitas. They were very tasty and plenty to split with some chips and salsa. Side note: the chips and salsa here are not complimentary like in most Mexican Restaurants. That is the only reason for the four stars instead of five. All of our meals were very good. This will definitely be a place to add to my Louisville rotation

Recently went to El Mundo for a friend's birthday dinner and it was excellent! We were able to make reservations for 7 people the day before Valentine's Day, we did eat at 5:30 pm but was still impressed we got in!The new location is a bit of a multilevel maze, but we were located on the 2nd floor and had a large table for our group. Arriving early also got us access to the happy hour menu with $5 margaritas and deals on chips and dips, which we took full advantage of. The chips and queso was delicious, but not enough queso (ha)! The chips were very fresh and refills kept coming! In ordered the southwest green chile enchiladas ($14.25) with chicken, rice and beans. It was a good portion and the food was very good. My husband ordered the carnitas ($16.95), which he liked but will more than likely try something different next time. They had a simple kids meal took for $5 each. We ordered the cheese and chicken quesadilla. We'll be back for happy hour and that queso!

I LOVE el mundo. Best bean dip I've ever had, and their current seasonal pina colada margarita is out of this world! Love the staff here too!

El mundo is always a safe bet! Parking can be super super tricky because of the area (super small lot and heavily trafficked street parking). Salad was good but chicken was a little too charred (and I like my meat very charred). Service was great.

I think the new spot is better than the original! They have a great outdoor deck to enjoy your margarita! Even when the weather is cool they they have heaters and blankets to keep you warm.I'm making my way through the menu. They have the best margarita in town! And even better margaritas with the happy hour prices. My current favorite appetizer is the chips and queso. Every entree has been great. I'm going with the Chile Relleno as my still favorite and the Stacked Enchiladas as a close second. I have to give the Grilled Chicken Burrito as honorable mention
