This place is legit. Reminds me of the carnicerias (butcher shops) and panaderias (bakeries) I grew up with in Los Angeles, CA. Excellent selection of pan dulce (Mexican sweet bread) and great selection of meats as well. The tamales are AMAZING and well worth their price. They used to only have them there on weekends but it seems they now have them every day last I checked. Red tamales are pork and not spicy. Green tamales are chicked and chiles and have some heat to them. Overall this place has most everything you need to make an authentic Latinx dish at reasonable prices. We are frequent shoppers.

If you wanna find the best tamales in southern Indian/Louisville look no further. They have both chicken and pork for only a $1 each! The store in its self has some fun finds- dinosaur shaped pasta and fresh bakery items

Just a quarter mile off of the well known path of Lewis and Clark Pkwy sits this relatively new place called El Mercadito. I've been here twice now and finally added this business into our lovely Yelp world. This place is a "Panaderia", a "Carniceria", and a "tienda"..essentially an all in one grocery store but filled with a lot of neat Mexican things. You can find Pinatas here, you can find Mexican Candy, Mexican sweet bread, and pretty much everything else you can eat or decorate with- with a Mexican brand name. You can find all the aisles with enough room to walk through without feeling cramped. Everything appears clean and organized. The employees there have been friendly and helpful in assisting me find something specific both times I have been there. This place is a bit hidden- it's on Eastern Blvd but deep within a large lot. Find it and give this place a try for some great Chorizo or sweet bread!

This market is like a home away from home. Living in Los Angeles it's easy to take for granted the ease of which Hispanic products can be obtained. This market has a lot of what's needed to make authentic Mexican dishes and to satisfy junk food cravings as they also have many imported candies and junk foods. Delicious tamales were available when I went in on a Monday. It's worth the visit if you're looking for the proper ingredients for your next Latin inspired dish or if you're curious to try snacks from another country.

This is a great little Mexican grocery store. It has all the essentials like meat, dairy products, some produce, spices, drinks and of course, snacks! The store has a private lot, which is always nice, and they have full shopping carts and hand baskets. El Mercadito resembles a very clean and well put together mini market. They have fresh meats available and nice bakery items like cookies and muffins, and they're yuuuge! This place is really fantastic, I got two fresh limes, five Mexican sodas in glass bottles (they have a huge variety and soda from Mexico is one of my favorite things in the world!), and four fresh made pastries for exactly $10.00! That's a real bargain to me.Just a note -- They have cold medicine, cleaning supplies and other household goods, too. Also, $10 minimum on cards, however I do suggest bringing cash because it's a little easier on the cashiers. My only qualm is they don't have a huge produce section, which is fine. I definitely plan to stop here once a week or so.

I decided to come here after reading good reviews on here. Was very happy with what I saw when I walked in, very clean. It's been years since I had fresh Mexican sweet breads!! living on west coast most my life, I was spoiled getting it when ever I had craving for it. The selections was AMAZING!! so many to choose from and I had hard time choosing. But I did end up getting several cookies, breads and pastries. I was in a hurry when I stopped in so didn't get to look around but the pastry shelves. Very friendly staff and prices were great. Can't wait to go back.

El Mercadito! Ah walking in here reminds me so much of being in one of the Hispanic markets that we've been in out West. The store while small has such a large selection of Hispanic goods and is an authentic Mexican market. Aside from a few aisles of tall grocery shelves, they offer fresh services in the form of a bakery, a small kitchen, and a butcher counter. I have fallen deeply in love with their baked goods but more than anything their TAMALES! Holy guaca-moley - these are fantastic! They are made with pork (red) or chicken/green chile (note: these are SPICY!). They are only available on the weekends but are mind-blowing. They are also only $1 each! So, they do sell out quickly! Pro-tips: stock up on them when you can, call ahead to see if they're available or when more will be available, and be friendly to the staff. In addition to their perfect handmade tamales, their bakery selection is massive. All in-store made goods. Hispanic bread is not overly sweet but they are fresh and delicious. The croissants are fantastic, massive, and my favorite item. Being non-hispanic, the employees do come up and ask me if I need anything or am looking for anything special a lot more often than the other customers. They are incredibly friendly and always willing to help! Definitely check out this hidden gem.

I'm a big fan of the TAMALES! they are fresh and usually ready on Thursday or Friday morning. They have a huge pot of them warming and ready to sell / eat. There are a few flavors: pork (my favorite) and chicken with green chile as well as chile and cheese. Their fresh sweet breads are very popular too!
